  1. So finally figured out the problem guys. Not sure what the exact part is called but it was the black box in the rear of the quad that I believe controls the ignition coils. Left cylinder wasn't firing but when I swapped that box out with my other banshees the thing ran Ike a dime
  2. It won't let me post the video or screenshot. Text me at (707)592-1670 and I can send you it
  3. I found the crossover tube and put it on, didn't change anything unfortunately and flywheel? A few people have said that but I didn't know banshees had flywheels
  4. Where about are you, I'm not exactly sac, I just say that so people know the general area. Not to many people know vacaville california lol
  5. Sacramento California, just about sea level I believe. Also if the quad is running and I put my hand over the right carb, it sucks my hand onto it. However the left side feels like it's not drawing air
  6. I don't have a leak tester, is there another way to test it? And is there anything else I should try first?
  7. Not sure, I didn't hone the cylinder, there was a single mark on it. So as far as I know it's all stock specs
  8. So he let a friend of his ride it and the friend never left first gear.. he held it first gear wide open ALL THE TIME. He continued to over heat it and finally it dropped a piston
  9. HELP GUYS! So im leaving for a trip in two days and I'm trying to rebuild my friends banshee (my old banshee). Long story short the piston on the left side was toast and I rebuilt the top end. It was super easy to do and all I did was change the stock 347 piston to a forged wiseco 347. I didn't change anything so that way I didn't have to retune the bike. HERES THE PROBLEM: when I start the quad it fires more on the right cylinder than the left. The left barely pushes smoke at all. Also the right exhaust pipe gets hot but the left doesn't. And the best part is it back fires loud enough to hurt your ears and shoot about a 6" flame out of the exhaust. Sounds like a firecracker going off. I have a video if any body would like to see but my phone doesn't seem to let me post so let me know and I can text it to you. it has new plugs, the slides aren't in backwards, I didn't change the needle on the carbs or jetting and I'm completely lost. The only thing I can think of is somebody said there's a rubber tube that goes from one carb to the other? I see the crossover tube but it isn't rubber. Where is this located and could it cause this problem? It ran PERFECT prior to the motor losing a piston and needing the rebuild
  10. Bought a dirtbike and hadn't gotten around to the tear down. And wiseco is fine, if anything that's awesome and the abuse those pistons took gave me some serious faith in wiseco pistons. The reason why I say " turns out this entire time I had wiseco 353cc pistons" is because when I purchased the quad, the previous owner informed me that it was bored out to a 405. Which at the time was very believable because my other banshee is stock with pipes and this one was substantionally faster.
  11. It'll mainly be used for dune riding/ dune drags. I already have 8" aluminum doubles wheels in the rear and 10" aluminum Douglas wheels in the front. So I have that part covered. A lot of people keep saying Swiss cheese and hack up the frame but where are some good places to be making cuts that won't majorly affect the integrity of the frame?
  12. Hey guys I don't know if I'm quite posting his in the right section but I need some help again! i have decided what I'm going to do for rebuilding my motor but while the quad is torn apart I had the thought of making it lighter! I was going to start with a parking brake delete and tors delete kit along with some smaller led headlights. The question is, is there any other tricks without spending a s*%t load of money to help drop some weight? now I'm 5'6 weighting about 190. I used to way about 210 so I know dropping weight will help but seeing that's a time consuming process I'm working on, is there anything I can do now to the bike to help? any advice will be helpful!
  13. So I've gotten quite a bit of information on my bike and have gotten some really helpful answers on where to go next with my bike. However I would like to see where some successful builds have came from. hate to sound like I'm copying people but being new to this, I would rather not have a piss load of problems with building and tuning. I am unaware of things such as "welding the crank" or when to do it. so curious if anybody would like to share all of the work they have done? I'm looking to be last at dune drag racing but still want to have a reliable quad on 91 octane at 40:1. What's worked best with you guys for setups that make good power? from what it sounds like, I want to shoot for a +4mm crank and a dune port, roughly to a 400cc. However i don't know who a good builder is to match my port job to the crank, or what I should do as far as spacers, timing, jetting, carbs etc. right now my banshee is sitting on a 353cc wiseco piston, stock everything other then the stock carbs are jetted and fmf gnarly pipes. So just curious, what are the steps and/or parts you guys did to make good power that isn't to hard for a guy like me with general knowledge of motors to build this up?
  14. This is what throws me off. What do people mean by "4 mil with stock cylinders and a dune type port". Are you saying get the crank and then just bore out my stock jugs to fit a 421cc piston? This sounds more like my type of build and I've heard people talk about it, however I don't quite understand what they mean by it
  15. Alright guys I'm in need of some serious help! Long story short I have had a banshee that I THOUGHT (previous owner claimed) was a 405cc and the quad was FAST. No im not a newby that thinks everything is fast but no, the quad hurt feelings. After 4-5 years of abuse the banshee has finally let go when I tried some VP 110 that cost me the pistons. Started the tear down process and now have come to find out that the pistons are wiseco 353's. with this being said, I ride my banshee in the sand dunes and would really love to become competitive. I'll be splitting the case to get the rest of my piston debris out but now that the motor will be torn completely down I see this as a great opportunity to build it bigger. My dilema now is that I don't know where to go with it. My banshee has never looked good. It's all spray painted and beat up but I like it because it gives it the "sleeper" look. So now I would like to make it fast but still carry the sleeper look. The motor is on the ground now and ready to split the case so the crank will be coming out anyways. I thought about running the 421 cheetah cub kit since the crank will be out anyways. I've always wanted to go with a 421 cheetah cub kit but was told I can't run my fmf gnarly pipes with it. So I started looking into Athena 392 kits but have heard not many people like them. But the biggest issue for me overall is TUNING! I don't know the first thing about tuning one of these so then I thought maybe I should just drop 353 pistons back in it. HELP!! I don't know where to take this project next. Are there big bore kits out there with pre-jetted carbs and timing mark suggestions. Is there more to the tuning then just timing and jetting? What should I be looking into if I want to run 91 at a 40:1 mixture? I'm knowledable with motors, but I'm more of a car enthusiast so looking at my banshee motor, I'm familiar with some parts, but it's an entire new ball park.
  16. So quick update guys, I've done some tearing down of the motor and found the problem.. turns out this entire time my banshee was bored out to a 353cc with wiseco pistons. So the new updated on the bike is that the pistons are garbage. I melted the domes, smoked the rings and have broken off the lower skirt to one of them. Starting to split the case soon because I have to find the rest of the piston.
  17. hey guys new to this forum because im in need of some help. for about 4 years now i have always ran 91 octane fuel at 40:1 in my banshee. as far as i know (what the previous owner brefly explained when i purchased the quad) my banshee was bored out to a 405cc and everything to my knowledge was left stock. i have no idea on jetting but the heads, carbs, reeds etc were all left stock. the quad has always been reliable and FAST. recently i wanted to try to get a little bit of edge racing in the sand and tested out the VP 110 racing fuel at 40:1 however by the time i got to competition hill my quad didnt seem like it was making full power. i could usually race up the hill in 4th and now struggle and find myself clutching it in first just to try to stay on the powerband. also i usually start my races out in second gear and the quad launches hard no problem, now i struggles in first. I have an all around power loss and dont know if i fouled something, plugged something, or possibly let the motor go. immedietly thinking it was the fuel, i drained the gas tank and swapped spark plugs out but i never got my power back. anybody know why this is happening or a possible fix? does this have anything to do with not knowing my compression or jetting sizes? wheres a good place to start?
