  1. I figured an easy way to power the system, trail tech responded to my question regarding power to the system through the coil, switch or any other locations, really not possible without a voltage regulator, fuses, or just about anything else I've read all over including 12v battery conversions. So easiest way I found is this. The system needs 12v or so to operate, so being into Rc cars as well I purchased a terengy 12v NIMH battery pack, small, compact, easy to mount basically anywhere. I already had the wall charger, but the actual battery in the Voyager can be charged with my Rc charger quickly with an adapter I built. I put deans plugs on the battery pack, and one end of the power wire. Ran the power wire from the front to just behind the air box, my bike doesn't have a coolant bottle behind the box, and it gives me easy access to the battery. I used a very small padded box and mounted it on top of the grommets where the over flow bottle sat. Charged the battery, plugged it in, perfect. I basically turned the system to full on, no delays, no auto shut off to conserve power and ran the bike. Everything works, I even let it sit for days in on mode to see how long it would last, after 2 days it switched over to internal battery power, good enough. Charging is simple, set my charger to NIMH settings, charges the battery in about 10 minutes or so, also recharges the internal battery and done. I thought about mounting a small 12v 1 or 2s hard case lipo but NIMH batteries are more stable, easier to charge, store, and take abuse without risk of puffing, so for now, this seems to work. You can mount the battery pretty much anywhere you want, there are numerous charging options, I just wanted a rear location, and already had peak charger's with options to charge any battery from nicd to lipo batteries, peaked, balanced with maintenance functions, I actually used a x6 from hobby people we have as a back up, it's small, cheap and runs off either AC or DC power with a ton of options, and they're cheap, like 20 dollars without an AC adapter, which is just a laptop power supply of using it inside.
  2. Do the leak down, seems to be a common issue, and message or ask Larry, he did mine at a affordable price, awesome knowledge, definitely knows a Banshee motor, mine wasn't fine tuned, and started first kick, once a made his recommendations, it's spot on and runs period. Good guy
  3. I just want the best location for external power, ideally the handle bar kill, which wire, color and can it be grounded there too? I have no use for wheel sensors or temp sensors on a bike that runs a basically stock motor with the money put into the chassis.
  4. Just sent you a message, I'm gonna dump the snorkel, which I intended on doing, see where it is, if it's still not right, I'll remove the lid, should be ok with the pro design filter and adaptor, if it's still not enough, I'll throw the lid on and out on the air screws an 8th and go from there, seems rich off throttle to just below half or a little less so I'll lean it a tad if increasing the air flow doesn't make the difference, should be fairly simple.
  5. We are planning some trips up North while I have time, so I decided to pull the trigger and purchase a Trail tech Voyager, so I ordered the one specific to fit a Banshee, anyone have experience with one, I suppose the main questions I have are all the options, temp sensor, wheel magnet hook up, and power. I don't know if I really need all the included bs hooked up, more interested in the easiest and best way to run it to power unless someone has actually hooked up all the features that it has without junking up a bunch of wires, the harness and everything else, and what I would actually need to just run it for trails, besides obviously power and the GPS maps which I already loaded all I'll need around Michigan. Thanks for any input
  6. Mains were 200 or 210, I pulled one just to check, it's a slight issue, I believe it's not lean enough on the air screws so I'm gonna back out an 8th and go from there, very slight issue, if they were 240 it would fall flat all over without pipes, it's just a tiny throttle response issue about a quarter to mid, I may adjust needle clip positions if air screw adjustment doesn't clean it up.
  7. I'm gonna try out slightly on air screws, seems like that's the symptom, haven't been feeling the best, but in the next few days I'll try that, seems to be starved for flow slightly, it's only off slightly, not a big issue, I'm also going to change plugs, gap them in case they are the issue.
  8. Got about 8 gallons of fuel through the quad, starts perfect, no leaks, heat issues or anything else. Idle is a tad low, but I believe needs some small adjustments, it doesn't want to clean itself up when I ride through the local trails, and not until I'm on it pretty good, even then, it's not making the power I know it should until into 5th gear and all the way through 6th. John mentioned a low end bog, it's sort of like that, but more of a what I believe to be a hesitation. I'm thinking it needs air screw adjustments, plugs are a tad dark, I'm running Maxima super M at a 32:1 ratio. Any suggestions on throwing a screwdriver on the air screws would be greatly appreciated, it's not off much, just a tad, haven't changed the plugs yet either, they look fine, and those are NGK B8's. Thanks
  9. Done, installed the Elka stage 4 long travel shocks and a arms today, added the durablue axle and Elka long travel rear shock, round carrier swingarm is the shit for chain adjustment for sure, as far as handling, thanks to MCR suspension over the years for a spot on job, made short runs today, took the same double, and could have sat down easy, it's right, still doesn't handle like my lagers protrax 250r, but considering that's a swear word on here, and I'm running a stock chassis, and Johns motor work,Lakes machine work, zero complaints, one summer and it's for sale, possibility auction to benefit my 2 younger ones, if I can ride next year, it'll have electric start, and reverse, but no auto trans without a clutch, if I have to go that way with racks, bury me. Thanks guys
  10. Once I break it in and complete setting it up I sure will. I'm really happy with the way it worked out, my little guy is 9, he was really upset when I got sick, but he didn't say a word when we got rid of the quads we had because during the 3 year process of them figuring me out, we basically lost our ass. He goes to the doctors with me, understands what is going on and he does real well with it. He saw me take an unexpected bus ride late to the hospital a little over a month ago, but he held it together. But I will tell you, when I found a spotless Polaris predator 90 for him, it's as clean as the Banshee, he cried, and he was smiling and tearing up yesterday when we were out. I'm 43, and this is my last build, and maybe ride, but yesterday was by far one of the best days I've had in YEARS easy. And I really didn't feel the best, good thing John has that thing spot on,it starts first kick, I didn't even choke it. We'll have a good time for sure, it's something he loves to do. He's been on a crf450 or a quad with me since he was a little over 2, and on his own since 4, so this is seriously positive all the way around for sure.
  11. Everything is perfect, couple short rides yesterday, heat cycle purposes, 10 miles on back roads today, and 30 easy minutes on practice track today, cleared 60ft double 3rd gear, suspension and axle and arms and I'll see if it'll clear the 120 ft table and triple, then we'll see what breaks it or me. Your awesome John thank you very much
  12. Some pictures, still have all stock parts, right down to a new factory set of decals including warning labels, didn't add a arms, or swingarm or shocks yet, hiper offset did enough for a short time. Sent from my Z813 using Tapatalk
  13. I just want to add a reply, update to the project. The quad is being picked up today, John is an EXCELLENT GUY and and excellent wrench, his communication is second to none, his attention to detail is second to none, and if anybody in the Michigan or surrounding areas needs advise, work, or whatever, I highly recommend him. He takes the time to do things right, has great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and is just a all around good guy to just shoot the shit with. Should be completely finished today, bumper, pro peg nerfs, a arms swingarm, elka long travel suspension, vipers and a host or other small things, I will post pictures when complete. I may have a shortened life expectancy but my excitement along with my boys, wife and friends are priceless. Probably not a person I didn't grow up with, raced with, rode with back so far that they still came with 3 wheels that isn't going to be involved in finishing it today and be riding tomorrow as much as possible. I would also like to thank everyone who has responded to my questions, concerns and for advise, it was and is very much appreciated, may be my last ride, but I can't say that through my career in racing, riding even in the local pits in the area that this isn't gonna mean the most for sure. Again, thank you to John, his family, Lakes Power sports z and everyone. I'm already smiling and I have a long drive there and back before we finish the rest. Bryan and family
  14. Do I get to break it in and ride it first? Actually the guy who is doing the motor will get the bike if he so chooses when I'm done, if he doesn't want it, then I decide what direction to go.
