  1. Yea I under stand that. If you have ever herd a rod knocking in a car or truck. It really close but a bit deeper sound.
  2. Hey sleep quick question can any of the issues you mentioned can a tapping noise on a perfect beat? I'd say one every 1/8 every second ish. It's was Def a constant tapping not intermittent.
  3. Hey couplex, I'm not sure if it would open the holes up a bit more or not be of how hard that backing plate is. Hell I hade to take it to a machine shop to have it drilled with carbide bits be it was so hard. I ruined 2 drill bits and a stepper bit. Lol
  4. Thanks for the ideas sleep. Lol take a look at them and see but be I spun the trans and he'd the noise with two different transmissions ( mine and a spare ) I really hoping that the bearings are my issue. I love my shee and I wouldn't have any other bike. It just been a battle with this bottom end noise.
  5. Please for give the bad typing. I suck at it. Lol
  6. Th at's true they are all metal to metal but the only thing that moves is the gear can rotate in either direction if the cushions are bad. The metal rivets will are stationary with the basket. As far as re at aching the basket I bought a drill and tap for the basket itself and had the backing plate drilled with carbide bits be it is not just stainless steel. It much much harder then that. I bought tapered allen head bolts to use which will only leave about 3/16 of the bolt head showing above the backing plate. Which still leaves plenty of clearance for the idler gear with out hitting it. If and one would link to have any more info on rebuilding a stock basket let me know. Now for the noise issue I've been having. After I rebuilt my basket with good bushings and put it all together when I pulled in the clutch it made a different tapping noise the when it was released ( while running of coarse). Frustrated as hell I tore it down again and while the trans was sitting in the bottom half of the case I spun it fast with a air impact and eventually discovered it's was trans daft bearings. So I believe anyway. The noise wasn't continuous but when it happened it was the exact sound. So putting it together in 2 weeks or so and it better not make one unnormal noise. Lol
  7. I am looking for brand new transmission bearings for my 01 shee. if you have em let me know thanks. 330 605 3534 dave
  8. if you are interested let me know 330 605 3534.
  9. I have a good bottom end minus a crank clutch basket stater and fly wheel. But I do have a low hours crank I can sell as well with it.
  10. as in reeds? no it louder then reeds if thats what you talking about (valve). There were some of the cushings left. about 3/4 of new ones, so again how are people saying clutch baskets make noise when there are literaly no metal to metal contact points if there were some cushings left still???
  11. Hi all. ok so i had a slight knocking tapping noise start in my 01 shee last year. pulled the top end off and found the exhaust side of the pistons was hitting the cylinders. bored honed and new pistons later the noise was still there so i guessed is was crank bearings (they had a little play but still in spec) so a new crank later. (all new seals replaced and all trans bearings were all good including water pump bearing which was replaced ) the knocking /tapping noise was still there. errrrrrrrrrrr. lol in comes the clutch basket into all of this. There was a good amount of back and fourth movement of the gear and clutch basket, i cut off the rivets and im in the process of replacing the bushings but heres my main question. if you have ever seen inside a shee clutch basket there are coushins in there but there is not metal to metal contact possible to make any kind of noise from the basket and gear back and fourth movement but i have read they can make noise????? i have read up alot on these baskets but no one seems to have any kind of engine noise issue like im having. any info or help would be greatly appreciated
