  1. I'm building a Banshee from the frame up. The previous owners have dicked this quad quite badly. Missing bolts everywhere, cracked pieces etc. It's a shame really. Coming from a four stroke, I don't have much experience with the 2 smokers that you guys adore. I've been a fan of my cousins Banshee (06BCbanshee) and the mods he's done to it, but now I have my own and I don't really know what to do with it. I'm stripping her right down to the frame, and starting with a custom built gusset kit, fabricated by me. Then I'm going to move onto the motor work, and get this broken Banshee brapping once again. I hear all these great things about the 4 mil stroker kit, from Weisco, and the bottom end torque that it ads. I want to start my engine work with this crank, and a set of Weisco pistons and rods to go with (all forged internals etc.). I need you guys to help me match mods and tell me what works for you. What should I do with this busted Banshee? Give me your advice on mods and how to pull the huge power out of these motors that I hear about, (60-70 horse) and maybe add a little laughing gas. After moving on from the motor, I need advice on good set ups for track riding, and TT/Ice racing. What kind of A arms do you guys like? I'll be running Elka suspension and linkage, they are my main sponsor. Swing arms? Lower the subframe? How can I make my transmission shift smoother and faster and hold up to the coming power upgrades? What's good for braking? Do you guys have suggestions on caliper/rotar combinations? Anything that you guys love about your mods (custom or not) tell me, and tell me what you'd like to see. I have the time and money, I just want to get it right the first time. In Brap we trust.
  2. You had me at "I like motocross" and lost me, when you said "I ride a honda"

  3. yes that truly was an interesting mess when I pulled off the cylinder. I've heard of stuff blowing up, but i've never quite seen it like that... Anyhow, I talked to father figure about the next Ice racing season. He agreed to help me out with buying SOME of the parts lol but I'm pretty sure this banshee is getting built from the frame up, for ice racing. Future plans: Everything. lol Anybody know a good thread of someone that had a successful 4 mil powerhouse build? Also, what can I do to make the transmission smoother?
  4. Just poured half my engine out of my pipe. Nice salad of needle bearings and piston.

  5. Thanks for the reply, I'm happy to say that this is a full on project bike. I seen on rocky mountain ATVMC that they have a hot crank complete assembly (with the rods and bearings and all that good stuff) for $450. It is stock size, but my dad suggested to me that we keep the internals stock and stick with bolt-ons (I got V force 3 reeds, ProCircuit Pipe, Uni air filter etc.)
  6. My name is Kyle Lyth, I have a KTM 450sx and race Pro Class in Western Canadians and CMRC, along with Pro and Pro Amateur Triple Crown and QXNW this year. I also Ice race in the CMRC. I'm not new to riding. Anyways, I'm 16, I bought a blown up banshee for $300... I'm new to 2 strokes, and I need a hand with the mechanics. I'm very fond of the four stroke counter parts (YZ-F 426 rebuild x2, KTM 450sx rebuild x1) and haven't owned a 2 stroke since I was 7. I took the the head pipe off the left cylinder first, and poured half the cylinder wall right out of the pipe (lol). Right side was intact. Took the cylinders off, discovered the case left side of the whole motor was just a salad of piston remains and needle bearings. Right side piston cracked and damaged Left side completely destroyed, bent crank, and rod. My question is, what the f*** happened? Starting repairs soon! I'm also wondering what I should look out for and what I should replace. My cousin is Shawn Lyth, I believe he is on here somewhere...
