Good luck with the sale, thats a steal for everything that it comes with.
-
Yea, i would just get those two and call it a day, nice banshee btw.
-
not a pro but why not change impeller and flush the radiator or get a new one, thats what i did on mine since the previous owner didnt maintain the bike well( not saying you dont take care of it but its a very old model 1989. GL and hope it helps.

Thanks for the honesty, it does spin but has that little noise any machine shop can press those?
-
yes it is a stock crank, i really want to get her running for a while and im going to get a stroker kit for it down the road maybe tax time but as of now i want to have a running banshee not one without a motor lol.
-
So i picked up a banshee crank, connecting rods are in great shape but i was spinning the left side bearing and it was making noises, that side was dry but the other side had alot of grease on it so it didnt make noise, i put some pb blaster on it but still sounds the same, i tried moving it up and down and side to side but it would not move at all.
Really appreciate your input guys.

the banshee is almost complete just needs to get the walls honed and port job.
-
lol thanks for the support. Its going to get done by jeff at fast,is getting ported, bore over, hone and a new 4mil crank to go along with some pistons with a cool head.
-
^ i seen couple videos thanks tho.
Update the dam walls need to get bored over atleast 2 over since the scratches are bad and the shop can do them since he said somenthing about the walls being gold plated or some shit like that, so he cant do it there. Now i need a crank, rods, pistons and new jugs GREAT!!!!!!!

I'll recommend HJR for the port unless your decent with a dremmal...
I have done couple porting jobs and couple motors and they came out pretty good, ofcourse not perfect but power gains.
whos your builder now??if its jus a corner mech or a stealership or your buddy 3rd cousin that had a shee in high school .lol..save yourself alot of time and headache's and jus sent the motor off to a site sponser or who your feeling comfy with .tell them what your looking for power wise.all done in 1 place that way when you get it back all you have to do is install and tune .easy peezy .....ive heard alot of good about redline. they has some impresive dyno sheets #'s for there 4mm or ss moters.check the dyno thread. goodluck
hahaha thats true, i have experience with motors, and putting stuff together so i can do it, now i get the part about sending it out but i really dont have an extra 500+ dollars plus parts you know what im saying? it will be a fun banshee nothing over the top. Nice shee btw.
-
^ right now i will do the porting and get it running then get some 28 pwks down the road. thanks nieskes.
-
thanks guys, yea the guy at the shop told me he is going to check if i can just hone them instead of going bigger, but asfar as the crank a trued and welded crank, with stock size pistons, cool head and stock carbs is good for sume fun?
-
^ is stock bore 64mm and the walls just need a hone to be honest with you.
-
^ thanks, the thing is i want to get her running, the motor is at the machine shop getting worked on right now so i was thinking of getting a stroker kit and maybe 65mm pistons and keep the other parts stock with a cool head for the mean time since i can just get bigger carbs eventually.
-
this is what i had in mind really but if i get this one what would i need to run it, i know i would need pistons but what specific model?
Long rod 4mm stroker crankshaft with 115mm rods
-
i took my banshee motor to my machine shop and they said that the crank is no good, they dont do the pressing crank or whatever it is but i had to get new rods, pistons either way so i might aswell just go ahead and get me a stroker kit and make the thing even faster =).
Now i searched and people go with 4 mil or hot rods so i guess it would be up to me but i have a question what would you guys recommend me? I have fmf pipes, stock jugs but i want to rebore little bigger since im getting a stroker kit,the engine is stock really but i would like to hear from the pros and experienced people. This wont be a race banshee so i dont want to spend and spend when i will ride it sometimes not all the time.
-
man... thats surely a weird looking shifter you got there.must be a custom jobie
yea i said the same thing, should get the parts this week to put it all together just need a seat and waiting for the micrometer to check the bore and get me pistons for it etc.
-
Wow! You didn't get much. I hope you realize it's going to cost you about $2,500 to piece that together, above whatever you paid for that.
i got more then just that i already have everything but rims and tires ,the rear brake assembly and work on that motor lol.
-
So i bought a banshee frame with alot of goodys and a motor and the guy said it need it top end work, which is common with banshees so i was like i might aswell change rings etc to make the motor run good, when i get home i take most of it apart and had no pistons, the cylinder walls look good maybe a hone but then i see that the crank wont spin freely one of the rods is in there tight and the other one the stuck one has alot of play in to i went ahead and got me the clutch and crank tools to actually take the complete motor apart and inspect it.
here are my questions.
1-how can i check the walls.
2-what pistons size( trying to keep it stock for right now) has fmf pipes and silincers on it.
3-i want to take it so it can get inspected for everything but dont know people here in ga that can.
4-are the husk clutches any good??
5-how big of a difference will it make if i put cool head on it?
thanks
-
Here are the only ones i have so far, like i said the swing arn, front assembly, clutch all those things are on the way with some other goodys.
ohh and off topic my dd.
-
Can you post up some pics of everything?
sure can, the mayority of the parts are on the way but i will take some of the ones i have in a little about to leave work and go work on the shee.
-
Yes the steering stem would fit fine. if you are talking OEM a-arms then yes they will fit any frame. Also If the swingarm you are asking about it the OEM part then it will fit your frame. On the other hand aftermarket a-arms are made to fit any year but they might be for a specific set up. ask questions before buying a part. This goes for the swingarm as well, it will fit any year but it may end up to long to short or need more aftermarket parts to make it right.
heres my suggestions.
Steering stem, your fine, any year swaps around.
A arms, a arms will fit any a arm frame, only thing that is different throught the years was that there used to be J arms in the early years. i suggest since you dont have any to pick of a used set that is wider and better.
Swing arm, should fit any year, i would purchase a round house sing arm because the factory set up sucks dick
Thanks alot guys, i just order those from ebay. got it last night and already have the motor apart and ordering new parts.
-
hello there guys, i picked up a nice powercoted frame with a motor and all the plastics, gas tank, radiator, harness etc now im missing alot more things which im ordering or already have but i have couple questions about a few parts.
1-Will 97 Yamaha Banshee YFZ350 YFZ 350 Steering Stem Assembly fit any frame?? i got bill of sale but not tittle so dont know but the guy said it was 2003 if im not mistaken.
2-Will Yamaha Banshee A-arms and spindles fit any banshee frame? he said it was A frame since is the newer frame.
3-Are all the banshee swing arms the same? i mean do they all fit all year banshee frames?
thanks in advance.
Has anyone seen this abomination?!
