  1. how to modify stock stator

  2. how to modify stator

  3. i may be able to get my hands on a cdi in about a month, just wont be home until then to swap parts... and thats if he will play the game, he can be a bit of a knob when it comes to his bikes...
  4. yeh sorry for not being clearer on that, its a tether switch, its just easier to explain sometimes as i have seen more jetskis with them... no its not a recent addition, its been on the bike for as long as iv owned it ( the last 9 months ) and it looks as if its been on the bike for a few years. Sorry if my questions seem stupid, im new to banshees and im learning as im going along. Cheers for the help so far
  5. it seemed to be a spark issue as when i kicked it while my mate had his finger in the cap he got nothing. It has the jetski style kill switch on it, could this have a shit connection or something? i wont be able to have a look for the next week and when i can have a look at it the bike will be going with me on a trip down south, i just dont want it shitting itself while on holidays. the bike was running at a good temp to, just seems strange that it would go from no spark to perfect spark again without doing anything except the kill switch
  6. the plugs are fine, i had a mate (not to bright!) hold his finger in the cap and i kicked it but no spark. came back with my ute an hour later and it started first kick... i am thinking maybe the jetski style kill switch maybe a bit shit?? i did pull it out then plug it back in but it just seems a little strange to happen as im just cruising along
  7. no its stock stator.
  8. has anyone had their banshee just die for no apparent reason, then after sometime just start again like there was nothing wrong? i was on a trail ride yesterday and probably an hour and a half into it, cruising along a firetrail in 4th maybe half throttle and my bike kinda popped and cut out. i thought it had blown again as it was similar to the last time it shat itself. after borrowing a bike to get the car and maybe an hour had passed i kicked the bike over and it started first kick, ran excellent again. i was ready to throw it in the bin when it died... this has me fucked at what it could be, any help? bike is an 03 with athena 392cc kit, vitos pistons, fmf ssts, power core 2s, k&n filter with foam outawear, airbox with no lid, 27.5 pilots, 280 mains, needles in the middle position
  9. yeh only a few hours and no one who sells shit off ebay wants to know you when there is a problem with there gear, its easier for them to pass the buck... fuck even athena dont want to know about the shit products they make, they tell you its a problem with your supplier. I have recieved some advice from the rz guys running the athena kits and they have found shaving down the waterplugs and runnign them with the athena gasket holds up alright. mine has only been run long enough to get it warmish and ride it onto my truck but i will let you know if i have any dramas in the near future
  10. you have to shave down the water plugs to fit the athena cylinders... the athena gaskets are supposed to run without the water plugs, though i personally only got a few hours on mine before it let go...
  11. yep thats definatly what i have found so far, cheers
  12. Dont use a pink one... after thrashing the ass of it for a little bit it will shit itself!
  13. Steve from here is the guy that has given me the last bit of info... He only carrys the stock athena cast pistons to suit this set up too which as he explained are shit! Every thing i have heard suggests he knows what he is talking about and his info makes sense, just rather get as much input as possible before i rebuild and blow another motor!
  14. Its a 68mm athena set up kozy, no need to hone, bike was only just run it, not a mark in it yet... except for on the pistons of course!
  15. After speaking with an engine builder here in oz (rz motors mainly) we have came to the conclusion that with my pick up gap being so far out and my bike running way to rich, this has caused detonation which has in turn caused the pistons to break. He seems to think that with it missing down low it has allowed the engine to somewhat gather fuel, then when it has picked up the revs it has kind of hydraulic loaded the pistons up causing excess compression, mixed with the excess fuel and caused major detonation. Im a little sceptical but could see how this would work. Would anyone else agree with this theory? And he does a few of these athena kits and agrees the cast pistons that come with it are shit but never has he seen this. I will try again to load the pics
