Hey all, I recently picked up a 2005 Special edition shee.. When purchased it would start first kick every time like clock work and so i thought i made out at a purchase price of 2900.00 for a pretty well decked out banshee. well about 2 months of having it was getting harder and harder to get started... so naturally i checked my plugs, made sure i was getting plenty of fuel, cleaned my pods etc.. everything looked good. So the only thing left was to do a compression test... this yielded me 70psi on the left cyclinder and 90psi on the right..this seemed really low to me even at my elevation which is around 4500ft. especially since it has a pro design cool head although im not sure what size domes. (guy i bought it from said 19 or 20cc he "thinks") At this point it was time for a tear down of the top end which was fairly easy for me since this is the second time i have done so (also owned an 01 few yrs back)
what i found was a cracked left piston. I also noticed that the tool that i bought it from had tried to pry the cylinders up with what appears to be a screw driver and marred the based of the jugs up pretty well, Instead of risking using the marred up jugs i have decided to just purchase new ones. I noticed right away this was not going to be cheap at a min. of 800$ for new jugs. I have looked into multiple options for cyclinders but im just not sure what would be the best choice for me. I would like to keep the stock strock and be able to build with what i already have ie cool head,32mm carbs and toomeys to keep cost down. most of my riding is trails but if i can her going good again id like to hit the north sand hills in walden nxt yr.. SO THE BIG QUESTION IS What setup would go good with what i already have but keep the stock stroke?? any help would be appreciated greatly
