  1. Anyone running the Elka linkage with a longer shock made by a different manufacturer or is it a proprietary combination?  I called and talked with Wayne at PEP and he didn't have any specs on building a shock for that link.  I Like the idea of more travel but not interested in running an Elka shock.  Curious if anyone has had one built.

  2. Second this. That or the yfzx chassis. Once the prices drop some.

I went and looked at one at the showroom a while back. Bottom cradle is steel so fab would be no more of an issue than the yfz's that have been done. It wouldn't be cheap but LED could make some in frames that would bolt right up. It's just a waiting game for me. Mass part outs aren't far off.

  3. I think a banshee motor in a donor yfzr as soon as a lot of them start hitting the part out cycle would be a solid build. You could accommodate for most of the forward center of gravity difference of the 350 motor with a little increased ride height. Maybe instead of 1/4" taller up front, go 3/4"

  4. He's got all the CAD prints he did on that mini frame on his fb page. It looks like he's using the same software to design his banshee frame that he used to design the frame, lt a arms, and lt swingarm for that mini on. He told me he's put a team of guys together to build his new hybrid frame. He's got two different machine shops, and a shop that does heat treating and powder coating working together with him and the chassis fabricator to get the frame he designed built right.

He told me he had altered the original prints he posted on the internet a while back. The frame he's building is three separate pieces like the raptor 700R frame. You guys will have to give the guy this, if he's not full of crap and he does get the frame he designed built he will have one sweet shee.

I've sent emails to several big name suspension and shock manufactures to see how much rear suspension travel you can get out of a banshee using a aftermarket rear shock and swingarm with the stock banshee rear linkage. Jim says 10.94 (11) inches and zilla says it's not possible without the elka long travel rear link. I'm anxious to see who is right because that can make or break his design.

Not sure why you would go to all this work and use a banshee oem rear. It's not all about travel. Leverage ratios of the linkage play a huge role in the performance. Banshee geo is very limited in this department

  5. LSR was cool with doing 3 frames minimum but it seemed everyone wanted an updated yfzr version. Would be nice if they would at least update for better pipe and carb intake choices on the 250 geo.

  6. This is a billet crank with a special extra deep weld. It isn't billet nor welded. Jim's word can not be trusted.

After being caught in his lie, he makes up bullshit reasons to him giving the guy a deal.

    That's pretty bush league.

  7. Yes, I'm going to mx a 10mil super serval. I'm 5'11 220lbs, so it will be interesting for sure. You MX with a +4 swinger?! Don't you nose dive with that thing?

Look at pic above. Nose is above center. If anything it likes to loop out. Mines 97hp. When the front tires leave the ground and you have that extra contact time with the rears being further back, it can get dicey if you don't play nice with the throttle. I only ride the banshee at my place. Mainly a duner and isn't public track legal without nerfs.

  8. My commitment to mx racing is so minor that I hired an AMA operator to build a track with replica features on a piece of land I own. This is before I got to know DDQ. In hindsight, I should have pushed all that dirt into one giant hill, added a little baby double or step up and everyone would be begging to come ride at my place. It's almost January so while everyone is trying to watch hill climbing on TV all the major networks will be pulling their usual BS and only showing supercross and arena cross.

  9. I made a post today about an issue with some screws coming out of a Mattoon lock out.  This bike has had a few other issues with screws and bolts coming loose.  Frame, mounts and plastic fasteners and recently the intake bolts have been wanting to back out.  I attributed a lot of this to riding more mx since I built my track earlier this summer.  Talking with Cam, he feels there might be a harmonic issue somewhere in the motor that's causing this.  I made the earlier post before this conversation and want to clarify that I wasn't trying to slam Mattoon's product and hadn't considered this harmonic issue as a potential cause.  More or less wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this.
