  1. get the 250r. If you can get a reliable machine for $1000.00 go for it. they are awesome bikes. Maybe not the most powerful but that is not always the most important factor. You could buy the 250r and replace the front plastic and sell it for a profit. 250r's pretty much have a fixed priced now a days.

  2. As you stated in this post, when you changed plug wires so did the problem. Check the resistance on wires and caps!! Clean caps and plugs and then check resistance on caps and coil wires. Get a Clymers manual or look up in the tech section of this forum for ohms of resistance.

Listen to this guy. Exaclty what needs to be done here. I would even suggest pulling the plug caps and jambing the plug wires dirrectly onto the plug if it will stay put while starting. I had a 95' cr500 that had a plug cap go bad and trouble shot for hours. In a final attempt, I just figured what the hell.....I pulled the the plug cap off the wire a jambed the wire onto the top of the plug and she ripped on the 1st kick. Just sayin. If you don't hove an ohm meter, this would be an easy way to bypass.

  3. better than mineral spirtits.....go to sherwin williams and get a gallon of reducer #54. They are having a good sale this weekend. That stuff is gnarley. It is used as a reducer/ clean up for epoxy and other similar coatings. I use it to clean really tough grime. It will probably take off automotive paint. Let that sit in your pipes for a while and should clean out a bit of grime.

  4. yeah, i know its an open desert racer. That's why i liked it. There is a wide variety of terrain where I live from tight trails up in the pine trees to wide open high desert washes and dirt roads. I am hesitant because the more I think about it, I really would like to have a multi purpose bike. I'm still debating. My 450 is in great condition but is an 04 and they are tough to sell. Seems like the grow on trees around here.

  5. hey guys. Been loving my banshee since i picked it up in march and have set it up for trails and I honestly couldn't be happier with it. It got me thinking about bailing on my 450. I came across this add on craigs list and may be trading my 04 trx450r for it. Any guys on here that know about the 250r's? What should I look out for? It has a stock motor with a wide ratio trans. Has a no link rear set up, +2 a-arms works shocks. The plastics and seat are ugly but that can be fixed with time. Any thoughts or suggestions to look for are appreciated.

  6. Found a great deal on a mint -2" modified stock swing arm on CL. just installed it and took her out for a ride. This is one of, if not the best mod i have done for the handling and suspension department. Yes, it will still climb well but holly shoot it handles great now. wheely on comand over obstacles flys much straighter and hooks up way better out of the corners. I'm tellin ya, if you don't drag race or hill climb everyone should consider thowing one of these on their bikes.
