  1. Ok, so led is probably my best bet. Can anybody recommend a good rectifier? I have never used a rectifier, do I need one for each circuit or can one be used for both...I'm not sure how they work. Also, my stator is rated at 100 watts per circuit. Should I be looking for 100w LEDs or should I not max out the stator's capabilities.
  2. I don't think led or hid will work with AC current. I was more curious about what wattage halogen to get and what others have used and been happy with. Would a 100watt halogen dim at idle with a 100w circuit?

Anyone have experience with these ones? http://www.trailtech.net/lighting/halogen/mr16 My frame doesn't have the factory light mounting tabs, so any universal light is fine by me. Just looking for opinions and ideas. Thanks

  6. Sorry for the delayed response, I just wanted to be certain before responding. Turned out to be the orings between the domes and cylinders(the brown ones). They had somehow deteriorated on the combustion side and the cooling side. I retorqued after the first few heat cycles so I'm not sure what caused this failure. Cooling system pressure test didn't really point to leaking orings either. At any rate, runs great now, just needs a little fine tuning. Thanks everyone for your input and sugestions. Much appreciated.
  7. Kenny, I have tried nearly all safe jetting combinations recomended by the builder and others on this forum with similar engine configurations. Carbs are new. No, I don't have any other carbs. What possibilities could make new carbs bad? I did do a static pressure test on the cooling system Pressurized to 15psi and the pressure bled down to 13psi then held 13psi for nearly 24 hrs. Pressurized to 15 again and now there is no pressure drop I don't know what to make of that.

  9. I know this is a really old thread, just curious if you resolved the problem? What was it? I am currently having similar issues.
  10. Rechecked the flywheel. No rattle or any sound of loose parts within...can a flywheel still be bad if it passes "the shake test"?
  11. replaced nology coil with oem coil...same problem replaced oem cdi with known good oem cdi...same problem replaced racetech stator with oem stator...same problem
  12. Reassembled cylinders and head. Borrowed a different compression gauge. Compression reads 135 in each cylinder.
  13. Probably 1-2 hrs total. Just while diagnosing this problem, since assembly.
  14. Does the condition of these pistons indicate anything to you guys? I have never seen this before.
  15. Double checked end gap and they all fall between.017" and .019"

  17. What exactly was the issue with your domes? Was your compression low or just an excessive squish band?

  19. Yes. I kicked until the the dial quit moving and then some. End gap was to spec from what I remember...I will double check tomorrow. Bored and honed and ported by HJR and he had all parts in hand. I appreciate all the suggestions and please keep them coming as I am running out of ideas. Very frustrating.
  20. Squish test shows .06"...what am I aiming for? The domes were cut for pump gas.
  21. the rods say G-115 on them...I assume this means 115mm.
  22. I was afraid of that...I bought all the parts from HJR as a kit, and assumed they were correct. But still not sure that's it, I will find out during tear down...Will the rods be marked with their size on them? I didn't notice during assembly.
  23. Should have done it sooner...checked compression-60psi in each cylinder. Not sure how it could run with compression like that. I will pull the head and inspect. Things to look for? The 4mil with stock cylinders from HJR should use 795 pistons correct? I will tear it down this week, hopefully I find my problem.
  24. I'm beginning to think the oil that is spitting out of my exhaust contains coolant. Lot of residue on front side of motor too. Could a leaky head gasket be the cause of a problem like this?
  25. Just swapped out the race tech stator for oem...same problem
