I believe that piece is just to keep the fuel from sloshing around so bad to make sure the jet has a consistent amout of fuel to have access to. The jet has a hole much smaller than the splash guard so I don't think it would make a difference since the jet would be more restrictive. The jet is the limiting part of the puzzle. Even in theory if it did allow more fuel, it wouldn't be beneficial. You have to have more oxygen available to the engine before it would help any. Would be the same as jetting up without doing any mods. Would just make you run rich as hell if it did help, which I don't see how it would.

I'm only running a 340 main with porting, FMF's, and no airbox. Something isn't right somewhere. Sounds like an airleak somewhere. What about the left crank seal? Also what heat range is the plug you are running? I would also check into what Banchetta said! Your carbs may need to be cleaned or adjusted.

I can't believe some of you guys thought it was a guy. I didn't know it was Brooke, but I knew it was a woman! Look at how thin she is from a side view, plus you can tell by looking at the shape of her hips, and the way her stomach looks, completely gives it away that it is a girl. Her stomach looks tight, but still has that soft look to it. I think you guys pay all the attention to tits and ass and not the rest of a woman's body
