  1. Thank you for the link to your bottom end assembly. It will help me out very much and eases the fear I was having during this first 2 stroke rebuild of mine.
  2. Has anyone had any luck repairing one of the nuts that are molded into the rear side of a stock fuel tank? I have one with the screw still stuck in it. I had to slit the front fender plastics and slide it out from behind the screw to get the fender off. The screw will not tighten or loosen, nut is spinning free. Thanks
  3. No leak down test done. The case is ready to split now so I am a little to far to back up. It was the left side melted and compression was 110 on the right and just below 90 psi on the left. I called the previous owner and he said he ran with a leaky left pipe at the cylinder before he put on the FMF's. I am putting all new seals and gaskets in at assembly and I will go through the carbs as you suggested. The cylinder bores were within .001 of being straight and round but the left side was .006 oversize. Cut rate bore job I guess. Thanks for the carb heads-up
  4. Thanks for the help finding F.A.S.T. I can't believe after 2 days of looking at this site the sponsor banners did not ring a bell. Go figure. Thanks guys
  5. I was wondering which online parts people some of you guys use. I have read about Jeff at F.A.S.T on a few posts but Google has no idea what I am talking about. Thanks
  6. 96 Banshee is getting a new top end. One of the pistons is in average shape(for a wore out piston) and the other has a melted spot on the top-front of it. Any ideas on what could have caused this so I can repair/replace the problem before firing it up with new pistons. I bought the shee this way so I have no idea how the previous owner treated it. It has a Pro Design coolhead, VForce reed valves and FMF pipes. I am not sure yet about any other mods. Thanks to all of you for your Banshee knowledge.
  7. It was stuck in 2nd gear when I bought it. (96 Banshee). The shift shaft ratchet was not located correctly on the cam. The shift shaft and return spring post were in bad shape so I have new ones coming. My question is, with the gearshift shaft , ratchet and stopper/spring taken off, should I be able to turn the star by hand to navigate through all the gears? I did get through the gears when I relocated ratchet before disassembling, but it was not a easy task. Lots of sprocket turning and wiggling was needed. Any info would be appreciated.
  8. Thanks for the link. Looks like a much better option than replacing the entire unit. Mine is riveted together. Much thanks for the help
  9. My clutch basket and primary driven gear look to be in good shape but the gear rotates on the basket about a quarter of an inch. Is this normal? If not, is it extreme wear and should be replaced? I do not race the bike, just use it for weekend fun. Any help would be much appreciated.
