Mate the way i see it is i pay my insurance and road tax i have just as much right to ride on the road as anyone else... i live in a little close i was doing my jetting on the main road next to my close, if its late or early ill ride into the close hit the kill switch and roll to my garage i do or did think about the neighbours. One of them asked me not to work on the bike outside my house coz the smell of the smoke so i dont anymore i take it round to the garage. its not like i just dont give a sh*t, thats whats got my back up even more the fact that i have been trying to be quiet and not piss em off. i'd like to take my neighbor to a more remote or deserted area courteous?! they sent police to my door! so the way i see it now is im fully legal deal with it. Oh? And whys that ddq? coz i pay my insurance and road tax and expect to be able to drive hassel free like anyone else?
  2. Ok so this morning i was woken up by police knocking on my door saying theres been complaints about me riding on my street.... Im fully legal taxed insured and what ever. I was doing my jets yesterday so i mighta been blaping it up and down the road but thats not something i do everyday. Anyways it wasnt my riding but the noise, its been said that im reving it up on perpos just to piss em off... I was doing my jets and tried to explane that to the police besides the fact that its just a loud bike and not much i can do about it & that im fully legal and there nothing much they can do about it. And they try and give me an asbo warning for my banshee! meaning if i get a couple more complaints they can take it off me and squash it. As far as i know they cant do f*ck all about how much noise i make so long as im not speeding or driving dangerously/recklessly? So from now on im driving really slowly outta my road... but reving the nuts off the shee anyone from essex uk fancy a meet down my street? lol
  3. Argh... no more boging but now it feels like it has less pull/power & speed in the uper gears almost like theres no power band... I'll start with taking the air box out and putting some pod filters on as a screw in the manifold is hitting the exhuast pipe. I'll get the pipe welded after thats done coz the screws made a little hole and then start on the jetting. I have paul turner mids, no air box with pod filters and the rest is stock. Where would be a good starting point with the jets? I did read somewhere a guy had the same pipes with stock exhausts but i cant find it now, i think he was recomended a 280 main jet with stock pilot (what size is stock pilot?) & 4th clip?
  4. 40:1 Castrol power1 2t (tts) Purely coz someone said it was the best stuff i can get to use here in the uk, i dunno if it is or not though, is it? Its not cheap though at £12:50(halfords) - £18:95(most motor spares shops) Id like to try that scented stuff but not sure if i can get it over here ?? I know i can get it from the us but 9 times outta 10 the shipping costs the same if not more then the actual item.
  5. Cheers for replying mate, I just checked and nope the throttle cable wasnt caught up just set up with the slides in the wrong carbs. So when i put them right the slides were opened up... shoulda thought of that in the 1st place really d'oh! Its running so much smoother now and quieter I wonder how long the slides have been mixed up for. The guy said it didnt idle when i brought it, it idles a dream now with the slides in the right carbs... I cant wait to see what it rides like in the morning I dunno who posted the thread about jetting, slides ect but thanks my mates slides were mixed up too and we wouldnt of ever noticed had i not read the thread on here
  6. I took my carbs apart to clean them and noticed the slides wer the wrong way round so i put them the right way round, put everything back together and kicked it over... Niiiiiiii It just revs full out & i shit myself and turn it off. My mate says "youve got cleaner in the carbs, turn the tap off and let it run dry" so i do, it runs dry and i kick it over again... does same thing but dies down, if i touch the throttle now it revs to high heaven. So i look over the carbs make sure everything is ok and iv managed to trap a pipe in the air filter clamp... (the water pipe i think) so i free the pipe and try again, its not reving as much as before and dies right down but as soon as i touch the throttle it revs right up again. It would rev up if i pulled the choke out a notch too so i messed with the air screws and managed to get it ideling okish then tried the throttle... it reved right up and wasnt coming back down! I hit one kill switch... it kept going! i hit another... and it still kept going! I yanked off both spark plugs! AND IT STILL KEPT GOING! By now im thinking wtf shall i run for cover or i dunno! I turned the petrol off whacked the throttle back and it bogged out wwith alotta smoke coming from the rad. Im too scared to try anything else lol i thought it was gonna blow, anyone have any ideas whats wrong? The slides have always been the wrong way round from when i brought it so maybe the guy that had it before had adjusted the throttle and maybe jets for them like it and thats why?

  8. I dunno about that horn it looks alil camp... Im not actually sure how street legal i am but i have road tax and insurance so dont get much hassel. I did once in a petrol station about not having wing mirrors, he got on the radio to check it out and they didnt know so he lemmie go on my way. I havent got a speedo or indicaters and it hasnt been through any tests but as far as i know i dont need em for agricultural. There a head turner alright, i live on the sea front near the clubs and amusments im scared to stop at the lights or a turning down there on a friday or saturday night coz women jump on the back trying to take photos! lol dont get me wrong im not scared of the girls just if any of these photos pop up on face book my mrs would think im driving round with girls on the back and go ape lol.
  9. Roughly from 16ft to 300ft, its stock as far as i know, yes iv still got the air box on but im gonna have to take it off and get some new filters. I noticed today the tapping or what ever you call it had pulled out of the bolt holes on both sides in the middle of the pipes and they had move alil and melted into the sides and on one side the front of the air box. Where its been sat on the front theres a screw and thats managed to make a hole in the pipe... so now iv gotta re tap the threads, get the pipe welded and change the air filter system. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the welcome guys. She was feeling alil sluggish off the throttle and sounding alil "boggy" for a sec before the power came on, from what i gather from the little reading iv done thats also a sign its rich? so i adjusted the mixer screw to one and a half turns, i think it was at about two and a bit turns i shoulda checked really 1st b4 moving it d'oh... It revs right up now no bogging or choking when i whack the throttle back but seems to have less pull/ power through the gears. Is it just a case of getting the mix screw set right or is this something i need to fix by getting new size jets?
  11. Thanks Err the plugs are BR8ES NGK's at the mo befor they were Iridium BR8EIX, I put in about 250ml to 10ltrs thats roughly 40-1 isnt it? and the oil is Castrol power1 racing 2t.
  12. Hello, Firstly what a great site you have here full of so much helpfull info! Iv learnt more flicking through acouple of threads in the last couple of days then i have picked up whilst owning my banshee for the last month... Im from Essex in the UK and picked up my 03 Banshee (registered as agricultural) from Ebay about a month ago for around £2000. It's pretty stock as far as i know but it runs ok, ive had no problems as yet and i use it every day on the road as my main means of transport. The only thing is i have been through afew spark plugs, some times it just starts running on one side and when i take the plug out its wet and blackish. It does clear up if i keep riding after a while, does this mean its running a little rich? It only seems to happen when i set the throttle so it will idle so i just have it set so it wont idle and its all good. Iv noticed theres afew uk riders on here do you all source your parts from the states? Iv been trying to find parts in the uk just for ease and so i dont have to pay massive shipping costs... if anyone could point out any uk stockists or what ever it'd be much appreciated. Im just after cosmetics really like decals, plastics & billet covers i dont want to change running parts at the mo iv still ALOT to learn about that 1st. Also are any of you uk riders on road on agricultural registered banshee's? Had any problems with police? I was thinking of going plg but free road tax and no mot makes life so much easier and iv had no hassel really yet. Thanks
