  1. Thanks bro, cant wait to get it up and running.. wish I was not so busy at work or I am sure id have her running this week before the local ride to the badlands.. Always love ripping up the trails and dunes there.
  2. Sup Bro, Thanks for the response. I did find that its the rod bearing on the crank, so the piston was prob doing a lill slapping and also f'ed up the piston due to this bearing issue. Fortunatly looks like WINDYCITYJOHN400 lives close to me here in Chicago and seem to have a good plan for getting this back together. Looks like im gonna run a Stroker Crank +4mil with vitos superstock pistons. Thanks to everyone for helping me out and again thanks to WINDYCITYJOHN for taking the extra time to get me hooked up.
  3. Ok so looks like im fucked... its deff the crank rod bearing cuz the thing moves all over the place.. I pulled the cylinders off and shit is sloppy as hell on the bad side. How hard is this case to split? Im pretty mechanical but have never done anything like this. Am I gonna run into other issues or what exactly am I going to need? Should I get a stock crank or go over? I really dont want to drop a ton of money into it but I want it running good.. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jon
  4. Will do, was curious on how to drain that. On the other hand thats what I was afraid of.. The way he described a knocking noise makes me think that that piston was hitting or something due to the fact that crank bearing burnt out. So whats a good crank and how much am I looking at? Also curious what else I should do after I get the bitch ripped apart. I dont want to go crazy modding the thing cuz thats always led to more problems and more money.. just a few nice mods and want it running smooth and reliable as possible for a banshee. Thanks again for your help.
  5. Ok, sounds like he used the biggest jets that came with it but im not sure... its a keihin carb with the stage IV 2 to 1 intake. The thing im worried about is it looks like the piston is messed up around the edge like it was hitting the head or something.. could this be a crank bearing issue or wrist pin? Im pulling the jugs off today and gonna take a closer look at the crank, so I will post more pics when I can. My fingers are crossed hoping its just the pistons and maybe wrist pin cuz im trying not to spend the money on a crank at this time. I am also not sure why the one piston is so clean besides I guess there is only a few rides on the new rebuild. When he rebuilt he did the carb and pipe so I will check the jets and make sure it was sealed up all right. and no air is getting in. I know the guy who helped him do the work and hes pretty good with motors.. hes raced dirtbikes his whole life so I would think he would take the proper steps but who knows cuz I wasnt there. Im just trying to piece the shit together so I can get this bitch screaming again. Thanks for everyones help so far, Jon
  6. Similar thing happened to me but I didnt blow a hole it in but she deff burnt up. This was actually a friend of mines quad.. and he rebuilt top end and then shortly after in top end the piston burnt out lost compression and died. Just pulled the head off tonight since he gave me the quad cuz he dont have the time to work on it and owed me money and this is what I see. I hope its just a top end rebuild and not something more because I got it for a steal... I will check for air leaks once I put it all back together maybe that was the problem since when he did the rebuild he added a new 2-1 carb and pipes.
  7. both cylinder walls seem smooth but the side thats all messed up is all discolored on head and piston and walls... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. So I didnt have a compression tester here and I got impatient so I pulled the heads off and this is what I seen. What would cause this to happen? It seems like when I push on the kickstart I feel a lil grinding too.
  9. how can I tell if its a crank bearing or not? Feels a lil wierd when kicking it slowly with my hand on the motor feel a lil clunk. I dont want to chance really trying to kick it over if its a rod or something.
  10. I ride street bikes with this guy and know how he rides.. hes kinda a high rever and late shifter.. I gave him 2 options with oweing me this money... the quad... or his rocket.. the quad is now in my garage lol I will check out the wisco pro lites.. so should I buy a kit with diff heads to match the bore? or just do the cylinders and go from there?   11. Ya im hoping its something simple.. or should I say not to time consuming and expensive.. I know there is lots more things I want to do to it but for now I just want to get it running and go from there. My buddy owes me a bunch of loot for a few jobs I did for him, I took 1200 off the bill for the quad with what I listed, extra set of sand paddlers, hjc helmet almost new, AS t6 boots, and a few other things.. Ive road all my life and really cant wait to hit the trails and the dunes with this. I just havnt messed with alot of 2 strokes and not sure what the best route to go is. Im hoping to rebuild top end myself, and maybe do some head work and get her fired up.. then next time its smoked go deeper with crank and other shit. I appreciate advice and hope to get her running soon. My buddy said he had the cylinders honed before he did the pistions but its never been bored out so.. not sure if im gonna have to bore it or what, and what kit to go with im still searching these forums like a mad man.   12. Why you say part it out? She rips and I want to bring her back to life... Just curious if it just sounds like top end or something more. Like I said he was flying top end and she just shut down on him, im wondering if it sounds like he just burnt pistons and rings or if it sounds like something more. How much you trying to give me for what you need?
  13. Whats up all, new to this forum and could use a little help with a banshee I just picked up. A guy I work for owed me some money and I took his banshee in exchange for the loot. The banshee has been sitting for over a year cuz he says he hasnt had time to work on it. Got a great deal on it but she isnt running right now, so heres the scoop. He did some lil things to it, added exhaust to it (trinity stage 4) and a carb which is a keihin, but has a stage 4 plate on it not sure what the deal is. Works shocks front and rear, and thats about it. Problem is he said he was top end pinged out and she just cut off, and wouldnt start. Im thinking it just needs pistons and rings. He told me a year earlier he did the top end with wisco pistons. Im just looking for some suggestions on where to start. I asked him if it kicked and started he said once he got it back home it kicked and started but sounded like shit so he killed it right away and hasnt tried since. When you push on the kickstart it moves so doesnt seem seized. This is the first banshee ive owned and have always had 4 stroke qauads and want to really start ripping this banshee soon. I am posting a few pics hoping it helps anyone wanting to guide me a lil in the right direction see what I got going on. I would like to do some head work, but honestly id like to just get this thing running asap so any help would be greatly appreciated. I figured id start with a compression test and go from there but im curious how deep im going to have to go in this project. I am also curious what pistons, bore, etc.. if someone would give me the time to help me out it would be greatly appreciated. I do web/graphic design and would be more than willing to help someone get something together if they wish.
