Problems Need To Be Solved !
geoffisacnt replied to Banshee Rider239's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
check your jetting, mine did the same, my jetting was way out of wack -
Well I came out today and decided to take the airbox lid off and give it a ride....presto. runs tip top next to no hesitation at all. So as of right now I have a 25 pilot. 300 main. Needle on second from pointed end. And the air fuel screw turned about 1 1/4 out. No airbox lid
-
yea trust me im kicking myself in the ass for it i was just in a rush and frustrated. im gonna move the needle clip back and go from there.
-
that is my mistake. i changed the main, and the needle at the same time. i shouldnt have messed with the neelde. so i will move it back to middle. and see if that helps. if i still have the hesitation i may go down to a 290. cause my plugs went from an almost black to a medium brown and the quad is running better so at least im goingint he right direction
-
starts great first kick. i just pulled the plug and it is a slightly dark brown color from top to bottom. so im under the assumption its a little on the rich side. after riding a bit it seems like my problem spot is now right before power band. which is leading me to believe that i need to raise my clips back to the middle on my needles. i may be wrong though

so once again i am posting about jetting. the bike was set at two turns out 25 pilots 310 mains. needle on second from blunt end. decent top end no bottom end at all until you hit powerband. just choppy and boggy. so i threw 300's in it 25 pilot. needle on the second from pointed end. at 1 1/4 turns out it runs a little better. still a little choppy. not smooth at all. im around 1000 ft or so maybe a little less. any ideas? oh i forgot. as far as i klnow the only mods are the fmf fatty pipes and silencers. it has the k and n filter with the snorkle removed and holes drilled in the lid.

Idk this guy is like the local" shop" they dyno them any everything. And everyone swears by them. He explained the process something about porting then putting dimples. And blah blah blah
-
Ill have to ask about that. What is a reasonable price for that? Also I am planning on getting the adjustable timing plate.
-
What does milled or cut do?
-
Okay so I've got a pretty much stock engine on my banshee. I use it basically for trail riding and coal hills. I am considering a trail port. The local shop told me prob 175 for a trail port. They are a reputable shop and guarentee their work. How's the price? Anyone have ported cylinders for sale. What else should I do with the port. Cool head? I want to continue pump to use pump gas. Give me some ideas or advice please
-
Yea im not worried about crrying the oil you can fill a baby bottle with enough for 3 gallons. Im worried aabout mixing the oil and gas properly.
-
It was a joke. I have a mix cup. Baby bottle is convenient
-
Haha I don't have the money for a fancy mix cup. I use a baby bottle lol. Thanks though for the info guys,
-
No I mean like how do I properly mix the oil in the gas at the pump. Put the oil in first then gas or gas in the oil and shake the quad a little....haha that's what im confused about
-
Any of you guys have a technique for gassing up at a pump. My banshee chugs gas and I find myself cutting my rides short cause I need gas and can't just go to a gas station. Do any of you guys have any tricks for mixing the oil and gas at the pump without a can?
-
i am gonna buy some 27.5 pilots. im gonna leave the mains for now. till it warms up. should i leave my needle on the middle clip or no. once it warms up i am gonna rhino line the shit out of my a arms and rear swing arm.
-
slightly leaner or slightly richer? 300 280. i dont know what you mean.
-
yea i pulled them yesterday cause i was having starting issues. i have 310 mains and 25 pilots. so im getting some 27.5 pilots. i have the needles on the middle clip. i have to keep the air fuel screw at half turn out in order for it to run. so def gonna change the pilots.
-
i found them on rocky mountain for like 2 bucks a piece. so i went out just now and turned the fuel screw all the way in and then about 1/4 to half out and at about half vaaaaaaboooom fired right up. so its def my pilots. my carbs are slightly out of sync still but its 19 degrees out and ill do that on a day its a little warmer.......what do you think about my 310's should they be okay or up or down. like i said my elevationi s around 1000 ft or so. i only trail ride and rip up the coal hills.
-
yea i got the choke tube back on. i have to order the 27.5 the stealership wants 10 dollars a piece for jets. so will turning my air fuel all the way in be a temp solution?
-
everything went back together just as it came out, it wouldnt start before i cleaned the carbs. im not sure aboput the float. i inspected them and they appeared to be good. like i said that carb was pretty much spotless on the inside
-
im at around 1000ft. it has full fmf pipes. single k and n filter. thats about it. oh and a sweet vaginatarian sticker. ive had it for two weeks or so. has also started no problem every other time and like i said it started up okay yesterday. once i screwed with the air fuel is when i stopped starting. so im thinking i need to turn them in to around 1 turn out. richen it back up. cause i know my stock 25 pilot is too small. opinions ideas? the thing ripped all the times i took it out. just lacked in bottom end until you got close to powerband. when i pull started it today witht he jeep i had it about 1.5 turns out. and it was running pretty good. but once i started adjusting the mixture screw out to about 2 is when i started to die out. and yes the bowls went back on the right way. carbs are synced and look good.
