Is this Banshee worth the money?
vifferman replied to jmoore77's topic in General Banshee Discussion
The value of a Banshee usually comes with aftermarket ad ons like exhaust, a arms, chrome and motor work. The details of what it has would be very helpfull. Another good test would be to see how much compression the motor has. Use the chart at the bottom of the page in the link and you will see where it should be. A quick search of Craigslist and other sites will tell you what people are asking in your area so you can compare. http://www.nossmachine.com/banshee_heads.htm -
Maybe, but more than likely we would be left with more time to help with harder questions that a Google search wouldn't answer. There's lots to learn and share here on BHQ. I don't mind helping but when people don't help themselves it gets real old real quick.

He asked "What is it? What does it look like? AND Where can I buy one?" All things he could have 'discovered' with a quick Google search. Too much 'help me' and not enough 'try'.

Here's a great case in point: http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141257&st=0&gopid=1219793& This guy HAS the manual and wants to know what the part is and where he can get one! Took me less than two minutes on Google to get an answer. I held his hand all the way across the street, reminded him to look both ways and to remember 'Stranger Danger'. I hope he'll be okay when the grown-ups aren't around.

A quick Google search here: http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_years/4670-yamaha-1996-banshee-YFZ350H/assemblies/135856 Shows that it is part # 2GU-22155-00-00 Another quick Google search of 2GU-22155-00-00 shows: http://www.google.com/search?q=2GU-22155-00-00&hl=en&rlz=1R2GPEA_enUS328&biw=1259&bih=609&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&wrapid=tlif130013841828410&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=fw#q=2GU-22155-00-00&hl=en&sa=N&rlz=1R2GPEA_enUS328&prmd=ivns&source=univ&tbs=shop:1&tbo=u&ei=rYp-TbafK8aKrQGi3ozPBQ&ved=0CD8QrQQ&biw=763&bih=407&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=4bc4d96e154bbdb2 It took me less than two minutes and two Google searches to discover that it is the collar for the chain guard and less than $20 on E-bay and elsewhere. I'm not trying to be an ass, sometimes it comes naturally, but REALLY! it probably took longer to post to BHQ that it would to find the answer.
-
P.S. Buy a manual, $30 on E-bay for the book or $5 for the electronic edition. P.S.S. If you don't want to work on your Banshee on a regular basis, buy a 4-stroke! P.P.S.S. Life is hard, get used to it.

Search BHQ? PITA! I agree with Larry's Shee and WINDYCITYJOHN400, I've tried to look for things too and it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I also agree with gotta_gofast in that people ask questions without the proper information needed to help them. There will always be a few idiots, and those that don't post a 'thank you' follow up with what fixed the problem in order to help the next guy, but that's what happens in a public forum about a complicated machine like the Banshee. If you see a question and can find a link to a previous post attach it! If you need more info ask, most guys don't know any better but will follow up if you're trying to help them. I personally have a friend who used to race so he is a HUGE help to me as a noob in the Banshee world. Unfortunatley not everyone has a friend like that nor the money to pay a shop to fix their bike. Rant mode off, flame suit on...
