Running worse than ever today.. The side thats running has a whiter smoke coming out of the exhaust, checked the plugs, the one thats running good has a dry plug, the one thats not is wet and oily.
-
Switched them around and seemed to go into the powerband alot better on BOTH sides??...... confused? I'm thinking of getting the carbs cleaned out, the reeds replaced and the coiols along with getting the carb slides adjusted?
-
I was out on it again today to retest and its worse than it was last night now..I noticed on the exhaust of the side thats not working properly has wet oil round the hole and on the side thats working normal has the normal carbony stuff inside it.
-
Just changed the plug and its going into the band alot better but still hesitant at points, any help guys?
-
Just checked that and one of them is pulling up a little bit before the other. How do I adjust it with the tors unit still on? Would that be enough to make it have not come into the band?
-
Im going to check the coils tomorrow and and change the plugs. I'll clean carbs if everything is the same after the first test. Yeah my bike is almost definitely in need of a rebuild. Think ill get the rebuild, new reeds and get it serviced in general before summeer.

Ok I'll try all that, how do I adjust the carb slides with the TORS unit still on?

The right hand side of the quad isn't going into the powerband although it is running. The left goes up and takes off on that side and goes into the powerband but on the right side you can hear it tingling and wanting to but it doesn't go into it properly. I checked the reeds and they looked fine although I have ordered some new ones. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Need to change the oil in my banshees gearbox and found this one for an okay price. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTUL-TRANSOIL-MOTORCYCLE-GEARBOX-OIL-10W30-DT-DR-RM-/250777906616?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a63872db8 Wondering if it will work fine? Thanks.

I came up with a cheap temporary fix. Unscrew one of the screws beside the kickstart holding the cover on. Make a sort of bracket out of metal that and drill a hole in it so you can screw the screw back in through that and back into the cover. Make sure there is some space left on your piece of metal. Find a good strong magnet and either glue it on or put it on with strong tape. It takes the rattling down considerably and it isn't half as annoying or as loud as it used to be.

Do you think it would effect performance because I have lost a LOT of top speed recently then noticed this, I was thinking reeds before this but I thought this could be a possibility. Thank you.

Hi guys one of the carb slides is moving quite a bit before the other one when I push the throttle in. I still have the TORS above the carbs. How do I adjust the slides with the TORS? I'm assuming I'll loose quite alot of performance if I leave the carbs the way they are? Thanks

Ok I will drain everything. What oil should I use for the gears that I can get off ebay.co.uk? And will any anti freeze be alright for the quad?
-
Wow, Can't believe it, there was a thaw last night and the kickstarter moves and I just got her started on the first kick. Now one thing, if whatever was frozen inside the engine, does that mean there will be water in it now because the frost/ice melted? What do i do?
-
That is a pain in the ass. Hopefully be able to pull the head myself and inspect the damage then. Assuming these are OEM stock pistons, I think 54mm? What do you think I should get them rebored by?
-
Need to add this bit in: I forgot the only mod that it has is FMF POWERCORE 2 Silencers and stock expansion chambers. The bike is a 1994 and the guy had it from 1996 and says it hasnt had a rebuild in all that time but Its great condition for its age.

Well it could of been metal or dirt it didnt seem to come off with a magnet but the quad barely had any compression when it was running it didnt blow my thumb off the plug holes it kinda vacumed it in. And it could seize like that after turning it off? I will probs pull the head with reference to the service manual as I am not really mechanical. Is it alright to drain all the anti freeze and all that you need to do to to pull the head even if its below freezing outside and probably in the shed? Also the plugs were quite oily. Thanks,
-
Well I have pulled the plugs and all I can see is one plug is dirtier than the other, the older one. I think there are wee tiny bits of fragmentation on one of them though, although it MAY be dirt. Is there anything else I should be looking for? Going to pull the clutch cover off if I get a reply soon. Thanks

This is my first banshee. I dont know what jetting it is, I didn't change it since I got it from the guy. As far as I know there isn't any mods done to the bike. I am only 6 metres above sea level. The guy I got it from is about anything from 20 - 100 metres I have just found out. I will take a look at the spark plugs to do and post back before I attempt anything else then. How would I get water into the crank? Thanks for the replies everyone, VERY MUCH appreciated!

I didn't actually try to get the bike started. I switched it off and left it for a day as I was away and came back to a stuck kickstart. But the engine was running perfectly before I switched it off the days before. No ice in the clutch cover, won't bumpstart even in 6th gear the wheels wont turn. Coolant is not frozen and isnt frozen in the tubes up to the water pump. Going to take the clutch cover off at some point. Thanks for the help guys, does this post help yous anymore? Thanks

Well I was out in the snow the other night and took it home and washed it while it was hot. It had plenty of anti freeze in it. I leave the quad for the next day as I am away, I come home today to find out that my kickstart doesn't move down. It's as if its jammed solid. I was running it at 320 ml of oil to 10 litres of fuel. I dont understand how it was running PERFECTLY when I switched it off the few days ago. The temperature overnight was probably about -6 to -10. I had gloves sitting in the shed and they froze solid so it was pretty cold. I also noticed before I switched the quad off it wouldnt go into neutral when the engine was running, it would jump into 2nd from 1st. I know neutral is a fine gear so it wasn't that. I only got the bike a week ago and I stumped because it was working fine before i turned it off and left it. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Hi guys, I have just bought a banshee and am wondering what 2T to use in it. I had a 2T KTM Enduro bike and I used castrol power 2t FULLY synthetic. What do you use in a banshee? Is it synthetic? or Fully synthetic or what is it? And whats good oil that I can get off ebay in the UK. Thanks in advance guys!
