assuming you are running gas and not alcohol: make sure you have gas needles and not alky needles, also, Im not sure if it matters with gas, but I know on alky the collar on top of the dumptube has to be grinded down a little bit. If they are too tall it will run like Sh*t

Will text you first thing in the morning.

mikuni, keihin, lectons. help
Yamahopper10 replied to CAJUN BANSHEE's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I love my mikuni 38's. Very easy to tune. Good thing about the mikunis is you can change to a smaller dumptube and main jet after starting out rich. Also, they are very easy to change from alky to gas, vice versa. -
Toomey t5's would be a good choice for your application.

Looking for +6, preferably round carrier, may consider stock carrier as well. Let me know! Thanks, Cody

turning my drag bike into duner
Yamahopper10 replied to Yamahopper10's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
decided to go with a 6 over... might not turn as well, but I wont be in the woods with it so Ill be ok. -
I want to trade my CPI out of frame pipes for a set of inframe CPI's, or shearers. Can text or email pictures, just message me. Chrome is in great condition, ran on alky so no discoloring. One of the spring hangers is broke on the right pipe, but they do not leak. Thanks

Hey guys whats up, havent been on here in a while. Well due to some complications, im going to downgrade (if thats what you want to call it) and turn my drag bike into a duner. Its a stock lightened frame, +8 swingarm, stock axle, 4 mill bottom end with dunable override and direct drive lockup, ported cyls by GT performance out of kansas city. Anyways, im switching from alky to gas, selling the oof pipes and going to in frames. I want something that I can still cruise around on a little but be violent when I want it. Think a +6 swingarm will do the job? I want to be able to do a little trail riding/hillclimbing in the dunes which is why i plan on getting rid of the +8 swinger. ive tried uploading pics but it says my file is too large. Thanks.

That last part was a dumb question, a little tired after work today ha ha.

With 116s and the needles that came with the carbs it was starving for fuel on top end. So I tried the 118s, and then got different needles.. Were you running on alky?
-
Yea I AM having to clean it out, 3-4 full revs before each run, and that's with 118 dumps and mains
-
and also camatv, what is the reasoning behind going with 125 dumps and 120 mains? Im pretty new to the whole alky game still trying to get it figured out..
-
only part on the plug burning is the electrode, and it is pretty dark at .18 gap. running b9es. the porcelin is as white as it is out of the box..
-
Trying to get my 4 mill stock cylinder tuned in I was just seeing if anybody has ran the 38 mm mikuni flatslides with powerjets.. Obviously every setup is going to be different, but what kind of main jets/ dumptubes have you guys used? Right now im at 118 mains/dumps with 50 pilots, alky needles raised all the way up and air/fuel screw 2.5 turns out, boosters all the way open. the cylinders are still getting pretty warm after just a couple 300 ft passes. I plan on going to 120s here in the next few days..
-
maybe all of their cylinders are 68mm bore, and the 58mm stands for + 4 longer stroke than stock.. so 58 stroke and 68 bore would be a 421.

2011 BansheeHQ Ride - Little Sahara, OK
Yamahopper10 replied to locogato11283's topic in Riding and Events Forum
I went last october for the bhq weekend and had a blast. I was on a little 350, orange and black. I'll definetly be there this year too, new motor... hopefully I'll have a cub on my 4 mill by then -
Ha i got it figured out. I had adjusted my throttle cable way out when i put the new carbs on and never adjusted it back, so the slides were about 1/8th of the way open, causing it to rev up. Also my air fuel screws were way in. But now ive got 116 dump tubes with 116 mains (both drilled out) and my air screws are 2 1/2 turns out, power jets are 2 1/2 turns open and its running pretty good. Cant wait to go run it and see how it does on alky once i get it fine tuned.
-
Ok.. so ive just switched my banshee from 110 race fuel to alcohol.. Im having trouble tuning the carbs. I put on 38mm mikunis bored to 39, and converted to alky with the power jets.. It will start up ONLY with the chokes on, and it revs very high so I have to shut it off immediatly, and it will die if I give it any throttle. What could cause this? Pilot jets, needles? Too lean? I know its impossible to jet someone elses bike over the internet, but any info would be greatly appreciated. I know a decent amount of stuff about carbs Im just not 100% familliar with tuning yet. I have my air screws 1/2 turn out. Also, I could be wrong, but Im not too worried about being rich for now, because alky will still run if its rich correct? Ive had people tell me to take it in and have it tuned, but Im going to need to know how to do it by myself at some point anyways. Thanks guys.. Oh and by the way, Its a stock stroke, aggressive drag ported, with cut head...
