The problem I'm having is I cant pull the reed cage out of the cylinder. Everything is unscrewed the intake is off and just the reed cage is sitting in the cylinder. The left side I managed to just pull out with some force. The right side wont come out no matter how hard I pull. Any tricks? What should i use to loosen the grip between the cage and the cylinder? Picture below.

What could happen in 6th gear pinned? Also what do you guys do when you're racing a guy on the street? Do you guys start in 2nd? seems like i run out of gearing in first too quickly for it to be effective and my front end is up in the air.

Whats a good indication of a safe RPM to be at when shifting? I've just been basing it on sound and trying to ride out the powerband a bit in each gear. I was just racing a couple 4 strokes and I kept missing shifts and revving a lot higher than i normally would. Mainly what I'm worried about is the kind of engine damage that can occur when you overrev a 2stroke? I've been reading on some other forums and people are saying that no damage will be done to 2 strokes when you overrev them, it simply won't make anymore power. Any truth to this? I run motul 800 so I'm hoping that does a good job of protecting my engine

Yea it's just connected metal on metal, there is some black stuff that appears to be helping seal it but it could just be carbon buildup from the leak. Got it this way from the guy I bought it from, what kind of issues can I see from this kind of leak?

While I was adjusting my air screw i noticed that my right pipe has slow leak where the silencer meets the pipe. It looks minor, my question is can this lead to problems and if so how can i reseal it? It doesn't look like there's anything sealing the pipe and sliencer together, the other side is the same but it doesn't leak. Not sure if this has anything to do with the leak but the right pipe also smokes slightly more than the left.

Yea i managed to get to the screw it was just a bit of a pain and required an extra long screw driver. Anyway turns out i was running lean, im only about 1 full turn out on the air screws and it runs much better. Bottom end is improved and doesn't bog down at low rpms anymore.

The banshee has an air screw on both carbs correct? If so how in the hell do I adjust the carb where the screw is in the middle of both carbs? The way my banshee is wired there's like 5 wires going through that area and I can't even see the screw.

I do use the choke when I start it up, I still have to give it gas to keep it going. Then after it will idle without the choke on, if i rechoke it wont idle.

Hey guys, whenever I first start up my banshee for the day its never able to idle without me giving it some gas. I'll hear the engine fire after about 1 or 2 kicks but it wont idle for more than a few seconds without me giving it a little gas. After maybe 30 seconds of giving it gas with some light revs it seems to idle fine. The other thing I notice is once I get it to idle on its on as stated above if it sits for more than maybe a minute the low end bogs down real bad. I'll hit the throttle and it just sounds like its about to stall out until I rev it higher. Once I ride for a bit and the engines warm it will fire and idle first kick and the low end doesn't seem to bog anymore than any other banshee would considering the power curve.

Probably a dumb question.... I just got my bottle of Motul 800 oil and the only mixing ratios on the back are in liters/milliliters, I have an old bottle of Havoline 2 stroke oil and it has all the gas/oil ratios on the back. Do those ratios still apply to the motul 800 or do different oils have different ratios?

Just felt like updating this thread. After I completely washed off my banshee with soap and water the rear shock doesn't squeak at all anymore. I can sit on it and all I hear is the compression of the shock and some minor creaks I can hardly notice. The funny thing about it is now when I push down on my front shocks the right shock makes a squeaky noise sometimes! Looks like I'll never been completely squeak free, luckily that shock doesn't squeak unless I push directly on it.

Alright I'll look in to the pod filters, as far as air flow whats the best setup?

yea the only thing about that is I'm concerned about removing the stock air box completely. The reason is I ride mostly in sand and it would seem that without the air box a ton of sand would clog the filter.

Hey guys, currently I'm running a K&N air filter in the stock airbox. I took out the air filter yesterday and I saw that the foam piece that is meant to seal the filter to the airbox is ripped and definetly isn't going to seal properly. Aside from that the damn thing doesn't seem even seem remotely tight. What do you guys recommend to replace that or what air filter setup do you guys prefer. Lately I noticed that one exhaust seems to be smoking a little bit more than the other, when I put my hand in front of each the right one seems to have more steady and slightly more pressure to it. The difference is really slight and sometimes it's hard to tell but it's there. I tried syncing my carbs, and they looked like they were already synced as close as I could get them. What else could be the problem?

Update: I've regreased all of the grease zerks in the rear (minus the one undernearth the swingarm blocked by the skidplate) and sprayed wd-40 on just about everything that moves under there... the squeak hasn't changed at all. I did find a little problem while I was down there, I noticed my coolant is leaking out and there was a small puddle of it building up on my skidplate and I'm sure its gotten on a lot more than just that down there. I can't figure out why the coolant is leaking, it seems to be a slow leak from the bottom of the reservoir. Could the anti-freeze leaking out onto the bearings and possibly the suspension have caused the squeakyness?

Hey where do you buy your motul 800? And do you use the road version or off-road, I can't seem to find the difference between the two

Yea looks like I won't be needing to drain the tank afterall, I went for a morning ride and after about 20 minutes or so I ran out of gas. At first I was like, oh no problem I still have my reserve fuel but when I switched to reserve I didn't get any more gas Apparently the guy I bought it from didn't set up the reserve right so I ran my tank bone dry and had to roll it back to my house....

Hey guys, wasn't really sure which forum to post this in. The guy I bought my banshee from has been using yamalube and it had a full tank of it when I bought it. I want to switch to a fully synthetic, should I try to burn off as much gas as I can (including reserve) before I put in the new mixture? Would you guys recommend just draining all of the mixture out first? Also what are your thoughts on synthetic vs semi-synthetic, I was considering switching to Klotz Supertechniplate at 32:1. Lastly, if I switch the oil in my mixture is it recommended I switch my regular oil to the synthetic also? Or does that not matter at all.

Alright that makes me feel better, how loud is the squeak would you say? Like is it very noticeable when the engine is off?

Yea I'm going to re-grease it, the squeaking only really concerned me because it started happening after I rode in the trails, it never squeaked before. Not really sure why it would start squeaking like that randomly....

Hey guys, ever since I rode my banshee in the trails I've been getting this loud squeaky noise every time I press down or sit on my banshee. It's definitely coming from somewhere in the back. What's most likely causing it? It's fairly loud.
