  1. Ditto those who answered with cutting the bolt with a saw. I have been through 3 of them on quads I have bought. Use a small bottle jack to slighty spread the frame-just enough to get the blade of a saw between the frame and swing arm. A air chisel may have to be used to drive the frozen parts out. Good luck.
  2. I need to replace the rear bearing carrier on the wife's Banshee. Still using a stock swing arm and plan on buying a carrier with a zerk fitting. Which is better and what is the difference (performance wise) between the tappered bearing and the twin row bearing type carriers. Thanks.
  3. I forgot to add a cool head with 20mm domes.
  4. I started with the Banshee in my signature. I just added 65mm Vito's Forged Super Stock Pistons, V-Force 3 reeds, an adjustible timing plate set at 4* and some very mild porting to the jugs. My original jetting was 300m, 30 pilot, stock needle and jet set at the 3rd clip. This was being run at sea level (Oregon dunes) betewwen 55 and 65* and was a little on the rich side. Will this same jetting set up be a ok starting point or what would be some recommendations. The carbs are on the work bench now so any changes would be easy. Thanks for your help.
  5. Make sure you line up the locating notch in the dome with the finger in the head shell. jbooker82, I didn't know about this. I will have to look at my head. Thanks!!
  6. I bought a used pro design cool head. The prior owner used a gasket sealer (rubbery substance) to help it seal. From my searching on here, the only thing most of you have used is some grease to get the O-rings to stay put. Is the sealer extra insurance to avoid a leak or is it not even necessary? Also do I need to use copper washers under the head nuts? Thanks for your help.
  7. Interesting topic. I've always followed the rumor that running aviation fuel in anything other than airplanes would burn your motor up due too the slow burn time. This would save me the hassel of having of having 2 gas cans for wife's banshee (pump gas) and my TRX250r (50/50). Any of you guys running aviation fuel in your 4-strokers (YFZ450)?
  8. [in my opinion it sounds like you might have a fuel issue. Have the carbs ever been apart for a cleaning after the jetting? How do your reeds look? (assuming you have stock they are probably cracked or warped) Since jetting it in 03 I have not had the carbs off nor have I checked the reeds. I will check that next. I did remove the exhaust and through the ports I can see that the cylinders have a glossly look to them, but I can still see some cross-hatching (wording ?). When I checked the compression the motor was cold and not warm. Not sure how much of a difference that makes.
  9. Hello everyone. First post, but long time reader. I bought my wife's 2000 Banshee in 2003. It was a beautiful completely stock low hour quad. In 2003 I added FMF pipes, Turbine Core II silencers, K&N filter in stock box (w/o lid) and jetted it per FMF instructions. The quad ran great. Here we are seven years later and the top end performance isn't what it used to be. It doesn't feel like it has much of a power band anymore. As a note, the motor/tranny/clutch have NEVER been apart. The oil have always been changed with Castrols syntec 5w/50. Fuel mixed with 91 pump and Golden Spectro 50/1. I use B8ES NGK plugs. The plugs over the last couple of years are getting more oil on them. I thought the motor was getting tired so I did a compression test and was surprised to find it was 120# in both cylinders. So maybe not as tired as I thought. The brakes aren't dragging, air filter is clean, doesn't lose oil, and the carb clamps are tight. Any ideas of what to check for?
