  3. jesus, dont tell him that..."free rev" which is slang ive never heard or "deiseling" is from a lean condition, but if it was that lean it wouldnt even start, what happens is once your engine is started, if it runs lean and hot enough, it will become so hot it doesnt need a spark to ignite the mixture, the heat and compression alone will make it fire, if this happens, even after running out of fuel it will continue to run on air, we did it on purpose in school and ive seen it happen to a blaster on a friend, we pushed it outside, ripped the tank off, ripped the carb off, plug wire, it finally slowed down when i got the balls to grab a wrech and spin the plug out, i was so scared the piston was coming thru the culinder, but as soon as i released the compression it shut right off, first of all, it takes a while for one to do this, you dont just cold start it and it revs to the moon, clearly the slides are stuck open from a bad cable, bent needle, dirt, etc or someone turned the idle way to high...unless you have a hole in your cases or a bad headgasket i dont see it revving tio the moon the second you start it, it would take some time to lean out and do that, an air leak would case more of an irratic slow idle than a screaming like your talking about wat you need to do is look in the rear of your carbs and make sure your slides are closing all the way check this video out, it will show you how to check that... after that get some silencers and jet it correctly... stick to 4 pokes 450r...hehe
  4. whats the min banshee requirements you rekon to make the glen burn ? I've climbed it with s chit ton of shees, i can tell you a good running stock engine with pipes will make it if you have like mud lites or paddles or something similar...I climbed it on my buddies raptor, but it had paddles and i was screaming like hell in 2nd the whole way, mmy 2001 shee with wisecos, coolhead, pipes and vforce had no problems at all...power does help tho...

  6. i know alot of people including me who use vaseline beacause its alot less toxic, i'm not 100% sure of it, but some greases may have chemicals in them that will harden or soften the o-rings or case certain reactions from the temperatures they are exposed to, vaselline pretty much just melts off at like 80 degrees, plus its clear...to me i always take the better safe than sorry route

  11. dude that bike is wayyyy nicer than my 01 and i sold my 01 for 5500 buy it now on ebay in 2006, its just the economy, honestly man ,if youre not starving for the money, keep it as equity...keep it shined up and start it once in a while, i have been doing alot of trading myself, seems like the way to go...possibly can find a decent trade on whatever it is you are looking for plus some cash ?

  15. mineral spirits or carb and choke cleaner, i have a parts washer, you can prob pick one up to fit cases in for like 20-40 bucks on craigslist, just put mineral spirits in at and wash away !!!

  17. Well, i dont personally have one because of the price, but i know alot of people who do and really like them...id say if you have the cash go for it, someone on here might have one for cheaper slightly used though...

My buddy had the same problem, make sure both front rubbers are good...look at your rear plastic where the seat sets on it...theres like a 1" by 2" patch on both sides that is decently thick, he just took some plastic squares (cut out of a junk air dam for a car we had laying there) and glued it to the seat to make up the difference...i guess you can use some sort of rubber which might be better too, if i did it, i'd use a piece of that hydraulic hose, its rubber, but tough as hell because its fibered to, pretty much just industrial radiator hose...then you have the option to glue it to your seat, or just zip tie it around your frame where the platstics sit...hopefully tou can do one of them and get yourself happy...
  19. port your jugs and weld your crank man....you're already around 360cc...those toomeys can handle a really good port job, open that sucker up and ask your builder what carbs to run, that thing will rip...ditch the stock timing too, i bet for LESS than what you want to spend, you can scare yourself everytime you hit the gas...

Wow dude, something doesnt sound right, you dont just bolt pipes on a banshee and it bakes it backfire and stuff...anywyas, your clip on your stock needle should be on the 4th clip down from the top, that altitude prob a 270 main and a 27.5 pilot with the air fuel screw about 1.5 or 2 turns out from lightly seated, check that your floats are in good shape and operating correctly, the float height should measure 22mm from the carb body to the top of the float without compressing the spring on the float neelde, if you hold the carb upright, the float will hang loose, then rotate it until the float just barely stops moving, use a caliper to measure 22mm from the top of the black plastic float to the flat part of the carb where the gasket would be... but it sounds like something else is wrong from what you are explaning...what ratio do you mix your gas at and what kind of oil are you running ? if it was running before you switched the pipes and then strated runing like crap, you had to hit a wire or something...jet your carb and put it all back together, be sure not to switch your slides as there is a left and a right (the cutaway on the slide goes toward the rear of the bike) make sure you put your airbox on right and that there are no leaks, air or fluid...check your plugs are gapped at .022" and if shes still messed up its not your jetting...

If your engine isnt ported, i dont think bigger carbs will do much for you, 35s may even be too big, youd have to talk to someone who plays with big carbs, i build 60-70hp sleepers with stick carbs, so i'm not the right guy to ask...check and see if you have a timing advane, if nor get eother a plus 4 degree key or an adjustable timing plate, other than that, looks like you have a decent stock ripper, i would say porting is your next step...as far as the powerband kicking in, its fun isnt it ? Once you get used to it, you will just rev it and drop the clutch instead of feeling that bottom end bog and accelerate like no 4-stroke can dream of, hahaha good luck with it man...
