  1. dumbest thing yet, i am doing a timing plate mod as im too cheap to buy a modded one, pulling timing plate out using impact driver and thought stuff was going to break, it didnt thank god but as i pulled it from my quad i was walking across the shop to my tool box and dropped it on the ground, the 2 tabs that the pickup bolts to 1 broke off, i was pissed, so i just grabbed some jb weld and put it back together. it is still curing but i think it will hold up for a bit till i can afford to buy one, atleast i hope so. anybody done this b4? other than that forgetting to put a head gasket in cuz i was half cut and starting it, it ran for 30 seconds b4 there was to much coolant in there. not good.
  2. i cut mine off, when i was drunk one night, dont remember it but i did a good job, just get a good pair of gogles and maybe a mud/rain suit for the wet days and givver sh!t, works for me and u stay dry under
  3. thanks for the info. now to save a grand and get as much bang for my buck.
  4. i have the part numbers for crank and rods and called a powersports parts depot and gave them the numbers and was told its a stroker crank. how do i go about measuring it to make sure myself? got my motor put together, installed and running this morn after a 6 month tear down and will pull it apart again. it only takes me 30 min to have motor out and almost all torn down (without scratching or damaging anything)
  5. hey guys, i have a 2001 banshee, 4 mill hot rods crank & standard rod, weisco stroker pistons, boyseen reeds in stock cage, stock carbs (260 mains), a durablue twin filter and airbox lid modified for more flow, FMF fatty gold series 2 w/ powercore 2 silencers and a dirt digger cluch (really hard pull) stock gears and 20'' rear tires. soon a trail port and bigger bore. my questions is, is it worth it to mod the stock timing for +3 or +4 timing for more power. as i dont want to spend a wackload or wait 6-8 weeks for aftermarket. and with my jets i moved the needles up 1 notch to richen it to run it in the snow the rest of the winter -10c -30c, do i have to rejet or will i be fine? what jetting should i have for this setup? what other mods can i do to get more power. my buddy just bought a new yzf450f dirt bike and i can almost walk all over him but he manages to get me in the end and everyone around seems to be rocking 450s with big bore/strokers and i want to show them my $3500 machine just shiton there $12000-$15000 machines. and not to many people interested or know anything about banshees around here or modding them. Thanks
  6. Stock juggs, head, carbs, bore is 65mm , no porting and air box is all cut open.
  7. Took the motor out of my banshee, ripped it apart and fond out i have a hot rods rotating assembly (crank and rods) i grabbed the part numbers off the parts and did a little bit of digging and found out it is a stroker. It was a happy day Crank HR204 (4 mill stroker) Rods CK 121 B (standard length rod) Pistons Wiesco 8306A (stroker piston) might be 8603A but cant remember? I have done compression tests and both cylinders are sitting at 155 psi, when pulled head off the motor i noticed the piston it slightly contacting the head on a 1/4 of the edge of the piston. My head gasket measured in a 12 thousands. My question is how much HP does a setup like this run? I am also running FMF fatty gold series and power core 2, jets, boysen reeds, cut air box. There is almost 2 feet of snow out side so i want to get my engine done so i can go ripping again.
  8. hey im running FMF gold series fattys with power core 2 silencers on my 2001 and trail ride all the time, kinda alrite pipe, i find myself clutching once in a while to get a lil more out of it but want to get the pro circuts for a lil more bottom end as i cant hit 6th gear around were i am( not enought open room)

  10. i want to get my motor polished. how much does it usually cost and how much time is involved. is there somthing i can buy to do it myself as i would like to keep costs down. i even want to powder coat the frame, a arms and rear swinger, does any one know how much that usually is? thanks.
  11. thanks for the reply's. im going to have to pick up a manual for it this weekend and give it a shot. i was racing one of my buddys when it happend, still killed him on his 450 raptor
  12. hey i have a 2001 banshee, it is running synthetic motor oil in the tranny. it shifts from first into second alright but it is hard to get into 3rd 4th ect. its almost like it is binding or jammed up. i just got it and the previous owner didn't do any maintenance other than change plugs. will changing the oil to a different one help or is parts starting to go? it sometimes makes noise when warm? thanks in advance
