  1. alright! i will try more stuff. my neighbor is an electrician so he knows whats goin on lol oh! the banshee is going to look a lot better when im done. i just need it running so i can start my rebuild!
  2. Jeez there's a rev limiter on the parking brake??? How does that work!? Lol how do I eliminate it? And also in the pictures there's a black box hanging on the exhaust.what is that?
  3. okay. i need to know how to test the stator. and what the gap should be. if anyone could pleeeease tell me! thanks for the help guys. im trying to understand this xD could you also correct me if im wrong here but i believe from me just tracing the wires today the spark starts from the stator, goes to the cdi, and goes to the coil which creates the spark to the plugs? am i correct or no? lol
  4. also i just found out that it has the TORS removal kit in it. (if that changes anything)
  5. ugh! i am just all confused. i hate electrical issues
  6. I actually do think that's what he said he had in it.. Damnit I was hoping I could get away without buying one! but what else could it be that I could check for?
  7. Yes I'm posative it has a new stator. And would one of the boxes be the cause of no spark?
  8. What are the 2 boxes under the seat in the back on the frame?
  9. How's it going guys! Well I just picked up my 1990 (used to thread on here to find out ther year so +1 for that) banshee! (Not sure what year the motor is tho 3GG-010514) I knew it didn't start when I bought it but that's okay cuz 4 $600 its a steal. So me and my dad started checking things out and were stumped. It has a brand new coil, and a brand new stator in it. We honestly both don't know anything about electric so any help would be great. I'm wondering what tests I can do to trace where the problem is! Please any help would be awesome! Thanks a lot guys
  10. thanks a lot nos and carbine!!! You two were awesome help I most likely will be asking a lot of dumb questions, and probably getting more smart ass comments to my questions. Lol But I got plenty of time to reaserch, and ask questions. I will start building in the winter. I just want to finish my kfx first. I got about $1200 I want to dump into that and then I will start on the shee!!! Nos that's how my kfx is with the over rev. I can hold a gear for ever without hitting the rev limiter. As for the suspension, I will prolly get the r6 shock for the rear, and then buy something aftermarket for the fronts! I will have to do some reaserch on motor work. Once again! Thank you so much for the help!!!!
  11. im not too serious about it as of right now. since i race motocross i just really want to rebuild it. i just think flat track banshees are badass looking! we have a flat track here in ny and they race every saturday so id be racing there. i will get the swaybar. i was on the trinity website and it looks like they have some insane stuff for banshees! i saw that they got a pro tt kit which looks nice and comes with everything i need for a top end rebuild. has anyone bought this? if so around how much was it?
  12. hey, what up everyone? i want to know what everyone is doing with their engine for a flat track setup. should i get a big bore? or keep it stock? i realy dont know much about engines (hence the reason i am buying a banshee to rebuild it.) so any tips would be good. i have been reading around and i see that the -2 swingarm is the hot setup. but what about gearing? and i have been reading that some get an r6 shock, and blaster or 300ex shocks. but is there anyhting else thats better than this? and what about a arms? +1? +2? whats the good setup for that? the first thing i am worried about rite now is getting the motor work done. its my winter project so i got some time for everything else. i just realy need to know what pistons, cylinder head (if i need it) i just need to know what is the best thing for a full top end rebuild. (bottom end too if theres a good setup) pretty much tell me the "dream" banshee setup and i will build it (this guy is funny lol thanks a lot for all the help in advance!
  13. Haha! Yeah I thought that's what I should have done lol thanks a lot for the info!
  14. Alright! Flat track banshee it is!!!! What piston and heads and everything should I get for it?
  15. Hey I'm from ny too! And I am also new here. Registered yesterday. Where abouts in ny are you? I'm just east of buffalo.
  16. awesome i will definatly look into that manuel! and i havent decided if i am going to race mx with it, or kust keep my kfx450 for mx and make my banshee into a dirt tracker
  17. hey guys! i may be picking up my banshee next weekend! i got a couple of pictures of it today.and from what he sent me (only the front for some reason) it looks like its in pretty good condition! the first thing i am going to do is rebuild the engine. so i need to know what i need to do it! this will be my first time doing an engine rebuild. so seriously any tips would be awesome! i could use all the help i can get on this. my dad said i should get a big bore kit. could i do this myself? i didnt think i could, but i could be wrong. once again. this is my first time rebuilding a motor and any info would be awesome.

    AREA 51

they have a quad track there! they got open practice every tuesday on the ameture track. its sweet i ride my kfx there all the time. you should bring ur banshee there! it would be a hit!
  19. thanks a lot for the welcome! yes i know this thing will be a money pit. as my kfx already is! spendind 300 a week on parts, and racing gets a bit expensive! but im not one of them spoild kids that doesnt know the value of a dollar. i payed for both of my quads by working, and i pay for all of my own parts and racing! i work full time, and am gunna start college this spring. im mad excited to be a part of the forum! thanks again!
  20. hows it going everyone? let me introduce myself, my name is mitch, i just turned 18 july 2nd. i have been riding quads since i can hardly remember. i bought an 08 kfx450r 2 septembers ago and i love it! i am currently practicing with it, and trying to get good enough to join a circuit next year and race in ameture, or novice class. i know im already good enough im just trying to dial my skills in. now where the fun starts i am a new banshee owner! i pick up my '93 banshee in 2 weeks! i stole this thing. its got a new durablue axle, full fmf, and new k&n. (not sure what else it has) i was looking for something to rebuild over the winter, either a 250r, quadzilla, or something like that. then me and my dad were talking about his old banshee he had, about how he told me if i could kick it over i could ride it. man i remember i kicked that thing over my hardest, and it shot back up and smashed me in my shin! i was probably 8 then lol anyways i thought it would be cool to build a banshee instead! there easier to find and a little bit cheaper than a r. so i told my moms boyfriend to keep his eye open for me. turns out his friend is selling his! i asked how much and when he told me i didnt care what it looked like or anything. i cant find one anywhere under $1000. he told me he would sell it for $600 since it has been sitting in his garage for so long. i am so excited for my rebuild!!!! now here is where the questions come. i was wondering why you dont see anyone racing mx with these!? i mean come on! they have to be good on the track!? i think i am going to set mine up for flat track. but i may keep the stock suspension on for a bit and play for a bit. i kinda figure that a majority of you guys have rebuilt yours, so if you dont mind me asking what would be a rough estimate of a rebuild?
