  3. theres a top and a bottom case half. to adjust or set your timing plate, line a number up where the case halves meet. basically, if you look at the center of the stator/timing plate and look to the right untill you see the cases there will be a line (this is where the case halves meet) if the line is lined up with 0 then your timing will be at 0. more then likely you will want the case half line to line up with +4, which would obviously set your timing to +4. click the link vvv

Awesome thats exactly the info I was after you cant get any clearer than that. Was that your bike and if so what breed of timing plate was that one or could you recomend one. Thanks for that

  4. This is very interesting and if Arizona can do it, why can't the rest of America ?

    MEXICO IS ANGRY !

    Three cheers for Arizona

The shoe is on the other foot and the Mexicans from the State of Sonora, Mexico don't like it. Can you believe the nerve of these people? It's almost funny. The State of Sonora is angry at the influx of Mexicans into Mexico . Nine state legislators from the Mexican State of Sonora traveled to Tucson to complain about Arizona 's new employer crackdown on illegals from Mexico .

It seems that many Mexican illegals are returning to their hometowns and the officials in the Sonora state government are ticked off.

A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora were in Tucson on Tuesday to state that Arizona 's new Employer Sanctions Law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.

At a news conference, the legislators said that Sonora, - Arizona's southern neighbor, - made up of mostly small towns, - cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools that it will face as Mexican workers return to their hometowns from the USA without jobs or money.

The Arizona law, which took effect Jan. 1, punishes Arizona employers who knowingly hire individuals without valid legal documents to work in the United States . Penalties include suspension of, or loss of, their business license.

The Mexican legislators are angry because their own citizens are returning to their hometowns, placing a burden on THEIR state government. 'How can Arizona pass a law like this?' asked Mexican Rep Leticia Amparano-Gamez, who represents Nogales .

'There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona ,' she said, speaking in Spanish. 'Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and who were sending money to their families return to their home-towns in Sonora without jobs,' she said. 'We are one family, socially and economically,' she said of the people of Sonora and Arizona .

    Wrong!

The United States is a sovereign nation, not a subsidiary of Mexico , and its taxpayers are not responsible for the welfare of Mexico 's citizens.

It's time for the Mexican government, and its citizens, to stop feeding parasitically off the United States and to start taking care of its/their own needs.

Too bad that other states within the USA don't pass a law just like that passed by Arizona .

Maybe that's the answer, since our own Congress will do nothing!

New Immigration Laws: Read to the bottom or you will miss the message...

It is time you knew, America!

    * * * * * * * * * Too strict ?

The above laws are current immigration laws of MEXICO!

We've got the same problems with illegals in our country and the fucking useless government invites them in with open arms, FUCK THEM ALL OFF I SAY out of our country and yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!! banghead

  5. x2, i think it was an 8", or 10" when i had stockers....just reach over the left carb to adjust the right...you can see it if you remove the seat. the wires will move

x3 long skinny flat blade take your seat off and shine a good torch down between the carbys. If that fails it might be time to get glasses. :rotflmao:

  6. I've been reading through a few threads about adjustable timing plates and pretty much have the install down BUT!!!!!! here comes the silly question HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY TIME IT . the timing plate install that's pinned to the repairs and mods forum says to use the crack or split in the case as ur timing line can some one clarify this or post a couple of pic's just to clear up my confusion here thanks.

  7. Hey guys, is there anyone using the elka reat shock linkage if so could you post a pic of what it looks like. Also what is the benefit of it. I was thinking of buying it so any opinions would be great thanks alan

It gives you a little more travel over the stock linkage and coupled up to the elka shock its not to bad but stand alone on its own I doubt you'd even notice the difference between it and the stock one. I think it's one of those deals if you but the complete package you would be happy with it shock and all but if you run it on the standard shock you'd be dissapointed. just my cents worth. :shrugani:

  8. Castrol Power RS TTS 2 stroke oil I'm assuming. I gave it a try but I just like the Klotz R50 and really didn't care for the Castrol. Fowled a few plugs.Others have given the Castrol good reviews though.

Castrol tts synthetic fucking awesome never fouled a plug yet :headbang:

  9. Hey guys, whats up? I bought a used 01 banshee, and ever since i got it it never worked right, I spits and sputters real real bad, but only on bottom end and mid range, top end it clears up, and seems to run pretty good, compression is 110 on both cylinders, had the carbs off atleast 15 times in the last 2 weeks, cleaned them throughly each time, with air compressor and carb cleaner, carb slides are synced, and both the needles going through the slide are set the same, if I remove the air filter lid, it seems to work a bit better, and yesterday i took it for a spin, just to keep adjusting the idle / air screws, those screws dident do anything at all, no change what so ever, it dident even effect the ideling, seems wierd? and the t.o.r.s is still hooked up, appreciate any info, thaks a bunch

One more thing, My brothers banshee was working quite bad years ago, and a few people told me on this site, that it might be the carb slide in backwards, that fixed his problem, this bike now, im sure they are in right, I am lost here, No idea what might be causing this problem, and agian on those idle / air screws on the outside of the carbs, I find it really wierd that it dident make a bit of diffrence, i had one carb at 1 1/2 and the other jet right out of the carb, with no effect at all, not even the ideling, and vice versa with the other one

Those idle/ air screws your talking about are they toward the rear of the carbys if they are then they are not idle screws they are air screws and need to be set at 1.5 to 2 turns out from a lightly seated position, your idle screws are located on top of the throttle override system slightly angled back. try 27.5 pilots, 260 mains & needle clip in third groove from the top as long as your carbys are syncronised properly this should be a fairly good setup for you to start with IMO.

  10. anybody else?

Stock pilots are #25 mains are #190 here in Australia anyway if pipes are all you've got on it pilots #27.5 or #30 at most and mains should be at 260 depending on altitude of course. The way you've described it runs I would check that the slides are in the proper carbys IE: cuttaways at the bottom of the slides need to be facing to the rear of the carbys it is possible to get the left slide in the right carby and vice versa usually done when both carbys are out of the bike at the same time and slides mixed up with each other upon installation, you can also open the throttle up and look through the sight glass on the side of each carby and you will see a recessed hole in each slide if they are the right way around. This problem with the slides being in the wrong carbys causes a real rich condition in the low to mid range. Hope this helps :)

  11. In the light of everyone's suggestion, I think you guys are right; she just needs some grease.

I uploaded a crappy short video though just so I can have you guys take a listen. She normally isn't this dirty, I promise...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkpK8-MDRk0

Check your rubber boots on all your ball joints you might have one seizing up due to a hole in the boot, it does sound loud though never come across that one before. Hows your steering feel ? any tighter or heavier? The only other thing I can think of and it may be a long shot is the new shocks might be sitting a little higher or lower whatever the case may be and putting the ball joints out of their normal wear area causing them to grind a little until they seat in (maybe)

  12. Hey everyone

I've rencently upgraded the exhaust on my '01. After removing/disconnecting the TORS (Thanks BHQ!) the bike starts easy, idles well but has NO powerband. It burbles, smokes ALOT, and doesnt want to get out of it's own way. The plugs looks black and wet so I assume this is a rich condition. Here are my specs:

    1) What type of aftermarket exhaust do you have? Paul Turner Mids

    2) What type of airfilter do you have? k&N

    3) running a stock airbox with lid

    4) What is your elevation? 450feet (Dallas)

    5) What size pilot jets are you using? stock

    6) What size main jets are you using? 280

    7) What temperature is your Banshee jetted for? 40-105

    8) Do you have a port job? no

    9) What kind of carbs? stock (TORS eliminated)

    10) What size carbs? stock

    11) YAMAHA premix at 24:1 per the manual

Is there a "jet kit" available with various sizes of needles/jets or do I have to buy them all piece by piece? I have

no idea what sizes I would even need to ask for.

    Thanks in advance!

Do you still have the rubber boot attached to the airbox lid? if you do chuck it . Try 260 mains and do a plug chop on that it should be ok on those settings, if however it isn't have a look at your carby slides and check that the cuttaways at the bottom of the slides are facing to the rear of the carbs you can also check this by the sight glass in the side of both carbs you should be able to see the recessed hole in the slide when you open the throttle fully. If you cant see the holes through the sight glass or the cuttaways when looking into the rear of both carbys then its safe to say the slides are in the wrong carbys IE: left in right and right in left , this also will cause a rich condition as well. Hope this gives you something to go on and once you've got this problem whipped you might want to consider 27.5 pilots and changing your oil fuel mix. :)

  13. Does anyone know where I can find 9x10 or 10x10 rims for the rear of my shee I dont know if they even exist or wheather I'm looking in the wrong place and I'm also looking at getting rid of the airbox and going to a pod filter but want to try and get one larger one than two smaller individual pods. any advice or information would be greatly appreciated thanks.

  14. if the boy wants a cool head he can buy a cool head...its nice to throw out some cheaper alternatives before someone goes and buys something....he is posting here to find out hwtas good/bad and what he should do now that he is ready to make his move....

    we all ride.....chilll

Ya know what I like about this site is everyone has an opinion and thats good because it throws allot of ideas at you that you may not have considered yourself. I can see the benefits on both sides running a cool head and shaving one, Ive shaved heads before but mainly in cars havent had anything to do with bikes though and it workes extremely well the only thing is if for some reason you need to go back to a stock setting it usually means buying another head where as a cool head is only a matter of changing domes either way. So at this stage still considering.

But your right we all ride and luv it and anything that gives the bike that little bit more get up and go is a good thing

  15. all fuel has an octane rating.

    there is

    RON - Reasearch Octane number

    MON - Motor Octane number

    AKI - Anti-Knock Index

RON is usually the highest and MON the lowest with AKI in the middle.

so really 98 RON would be close to 93 AKI

Ok thanks for that I'll do a little research on that one . so you recon 93 AKI with timing set at +4 degrees should handle that ok?

  16. i will only be running 93 octane, but i am not sure if your 98 is rated the same as our 93.

i think the US uses AKI rating, and where you live they use RON.

    AKI = (MON+RON)/2

not sure how you work that rating out but I was always under the impression that the fuel you guys have is allot better quality than down here
