  1. I think when It blew up a piece got wedged in somewhere. I had taken the clutch cover off and clutch out and didn't notice anything so I figured it was the cylinders/pistons so I put a wrench on the crank and turned it over slowly by had. Heard a little bit of a grinding / rubbing sound so that when I figuered I'd tear it down and found the broken key.
  2. That I did not know. Thank you. But I figured it out. The timing key broke...
  3. Jereme- just sounded like it stumbled. Didn't lock hard at all. I think I figured it out. After taking the clutch cover off and not really finding anything I decided it would be best to split the cases to check the crank. So I went to pull the fly wheel and there was no need to do so. The flywheel key blew up and the flywheel backed off. I'm guessing it was the remainder of the key that was locking everything up. But put a new key in and it's back up and running. This is my drag bike that I'm just finishing but when I ride my trail bike I ride mio gladwin, Atlanta, st Helen... All over the place up there.
  4. Thanks guys. Now how long can you go with alky I'm the carbs/tank before it doing damage or havering to worry about it?
  5. Pretty much as it says. How do you do the purge when running alky. What gas? Premix? How long? New to alky this will be my first time doing it.
  6. I took the clutch cover off and didn't see anything wrong so I took the clutch out to check the gear on the back and it was fine. I tried putting a socket on the nut that goes to the crank(what ever that gear is called) and turn it and spun fine. Upon putting back together I notice the nut and washer had fallin off the pancake bearing. Could that have had something to do with it? I also didn't check when first putting together or tearing apart but I don't believe the arrows on the inner and outer hub were lined up. The clutch lever was a bitch to pull and now it's nice and smooth.
  7. No I have not checked the bore. This was a running motor before I got it. My friend had bought it and torn it down to be sent out and checked. He then sold it to me and parts were shipped to me from builder.
  8. This was the first time I've ever even started the bike. It ran for about 30-60sec before it shut off on its own. I didn't get to purge it due to it not running. How long can it go without purge before doing damage?
  9. Yeah I'm going to pull the cover and see what's up. Hope it's not the crank or something big.
  10. This was the very first time fired the motor. I'm really hoping its not the crank. I'm going to pull the cover and see what's going on in the. Hoping its just a kicker gear or something.
  11. It's a 485 cheetah which they do but I bought the motor used in pieces so I'm not sure if it was one of there kits to start with or not. I built the motor though.
  12. No never kicked back or anything. But there are no pegs on it right now so I'm sure I was over kicking it. Think that could have anything to do with it?
  13. Ok so I am finishing my drag build. It's a 485 cheetah. While waiting on some front suspension to cone in I figured I would try to fire it. It on m1 alky with bean oil running 32-1. Timing is +7 and carbs are 39pwks with 120 dumps 124 main and 60 pilot. Pjs are wide open. Needless to say I got it to fire and seemed to be running fine. I blipped the throttle a few times but nothing crazy. It only ran for maybe a min before it shut off on its own. Went to try to restart it but the kicker or motor is locked. Took the head off and everything looks to be ok, no big gouges or deto or anything a bad the domes are covered in alky. Haven't pulled the clutch cover yet but does anyone have an idea on what could have happened? I'm supposed to be racing in 1 week so trying to get this figured out. Please let me know what you guys think.

Need something fast. Mainly just need the upper left if your sitting on the bike. My drag bike fell off the back of the trailer going 50 into a pole and have a race coming up. Let me know what you have.
  16. I don't know what I should start pilots at?
  17. I haven't gotten to fire the motor yet. Still waiting on a few parts. Just trying to gather some info before firing it. But I've currently got the to timing at +7.
  18. So with the plating.... Say you have more that 25% plating on it. Does that mean your rich or lean.
  19. Also what alky should I run. I was told m1. Is that good.
  20. Now what exactly do you mean by plating?
  21. Yes they have power jets. Now I'm pretty new to this stuff. How is it the needles work? I believe there is dgh needles in it now. Is the richer or leaner than what you said.
