do u have a stator? shipped to 43526? -
yup choke makes it idle high.

that makes more sense thank you. i have checked the reeds and they arent broken or cracked. im gonna say the problem would have to lie within the carbs. im gonna work on it today. but in case it isnt the carbs i would defintely like ideas. so yeah if it was dieseling then it wouldnt of stoped like that right?
-
not stock carbs so no choke tube. and everything is sealed i mean its a tight sealed case for sure. the leadown test lost no air so i dunno how it could be an air leak but i think im running to rich maybe i'll back out on the air screws and see what that does. i know dieseling is usually caused by an air leak but air leak is ruled out. so i was seeing what else would cause it. and is it true dieseling? i mean i hit the kill switch and opened the throttle and it died. if it was dieseling then that wouldnt stop it correct?
-
so i started my she today after doing a rebuild and it was running ok and i was blippin the throttle alittle bit and letting it idle and warm up. the engine was running good and then exhaust started coming out one side. so one side was cool and one side was warm. i was still blipping the throttle seing what was going on and then the last time i did it the throttle came down alittle bit and then ran at a constant idle like it was dieseling. waaaaaaaaaa...... i hit the kill switch and open the carbs and it died luckily. so whats going on here? is the one side getting saturated with gas and causing a dieseling effect? that would explain why its only firing on one side. there are no air leaks i did a leak down test. pilot screws out .5 turns. carbs synced. its a fresh rebuild .080 over with +4 timing 28mm pwks fmfs coolhead.

ok so i fixed the plug issue. good spark going all the way through the plugs now. but i have still had to prime it through the spark plug holes. one side exhaust was warm other side was cool. so where do i begin? i already cleaned these damn things a million times. carb cleaner and used a small wire in the jet holes to make sure no junk was in them and float heights are good for sure. no idea on the jetting. so any helpful advice is a good one. -

so these should have a choke tube? i mean the choke is seperate on each carb. i dont understand why it would need a choke tube between them since they arent stockers. but i need this spark issue fixed before i even worry bout the priming issue lol -

not stock carbs 28mm pwk choke crossover???? only thing i have is the dreaded boost bottle but there arent ripped or cracked boots but i will be getting rid of that soon. and yes slides are in correctly they can only go in one way. -
ok so i was doing a rebuild and had some issues with a leaking case. resealed the case and did a leak down test and passed with flying colors. throw the motor back in and i was still having issues. im kicing and its not starting. i have spark and the plugs are wet. well anwyays i pulled the plugs and poured some gas down the holes and kciked and it fired up. ran nice and strong but once let off the throttle it dies. try kicking it again and it wont fire unless u repeat the process. we did it again and it fired up and this time we noticed it was runnin on one cylinder. spark was shooting out from the boot and all over th head like the spark wasnt bing delivered into the combustion chamber.i thought maybe it was a bad plug but we switched them and was still on one same side. then i switched the wires around and it started sparking out of both boots. it is really weird i cant think what would cause it. its a new coil pack and the wires are fresh and so are the plugs. its very puzzling any ideas? also it wont fire without pouring gas down the holes. is this cause of that spark issue? seems like if i fix the spark it might run correctly. cause when it fires it runs great until u let off the throttle. any ideas is much appreicated. i really dont think its carbs. they are cleaned and adjusted right and synced so please dont tell me carbs lol. i dont think that would cause spark to shoot out like crazy in a weird fashion.

Yeah I guess I will but I don't see how an air leak would cause no fuel to be delivered to the plugs. And yeah screws out 1 1/2 turns and I used choke but still dry plugs. And it's damn near turning over but I'll try the leak down tester.

No advice or ideas?
-
lol sorry i have one last thing. i noticed my petcock is constantly dumping fuel into the carbs. there is absolutely no vaccum system on this from the petcock to the carb. i do have what looks like a vaccum port on the carb thats covered up. is this normal???
-
so u wont have to carb sync with a crossover tube. my bad. i thought that was the purpose of it. plus if i need to buy jets where can i get them for my keihnin 28mm carbs without bein raped?
-
agreed. the carbs arent new they are the carbs that came on the four wheeler which 28mm pwks slides. jet size? not all to sure to be honest. well i tried to dump more gas down the spark plug holes and got a rumble. it really wanted to fire today. but still would not run. so its obviously a fuel delivery issue. the plugs werent really getting wet. pretty dry actually. but anyways i cleaned the carbs and the jets rather well cleaned everything up and set the float height between 20-22mm. it has boyssen reeds. the reeds look good. no cracks frays or chips and i tried fliping then around but still no change. yes the pistons are in correct way. arrow point toward exhaust with the two ports on the piston skirt facing toward the carbs. so like i said its definitely a fuel delivery issue. so a carb syncing would be in order from what i hear but i though that was the point of the crossover tube. equals the pressure between both carbs so u did have to carbs sync. other then a possible carb sync i have no idea what the issue can be. ANY IDEAS??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

yeah im gonna try it after i get out of college today. i ordered a new rm coil too just in case and to have one on hand in case the spark is to weak but i dont think it is. i really didnt wanna post this cause there are like a ton of postings on it wont start but i've covered almost everything. the bastard thing is really eating me alive. i just wanna kick the shit out of it hahahahha oh and these are 28mm pwks as far as im aware there wouldt be a choke crossover tube. one choke per carb. but yes the dirty boost bottle is running through the intake.
-
its connected. well the crossover tube is in if thats what ur talking about and i think so. so update. ok i checked the gap on the flywheel and im about .017 gap so im getting spark. made sure the coil was grounded and its getting spark. it shocked me rather well lol. carbs i went through again and everything is clear there. i notcied alittle space between my petals on the reed cages during the tear down and i flipped them over and thinking about putting it back to normal cause it seems like my plugs arent getting wet for some reason. but i even tried putting alittle gas in the spark plug hole to see if it would pop and i got nothing back so. im really at a loss and kickin that damn thing over and over again is kinda rough on ur foot. anyone have any ideas at all?
