  2. And also this question. I am installing a new set of Chariot reed cages and im using the stock intake. They will not fit without cutting them like in the picks. Is this ok or should I do some thing else?

  9. I took the flywheel cover off to see if the gap was right for the stator and found that I have an adjustable timong plate that was set to 1 or 2+. I changed it to 4+ and the bike came alive with the 310s and the needle set at the middle slot. I knew I was running a bit rich with the 310s before I made the change in timeing but now its fast. My question is how much would that timing adjustment change the jetting?
  10. Ok so I put 300s in yesterday and it ran strong at the top but was laggy in the middle. But here is the deal i just checked to see what the pilots were( I thought they were 25s) and they are 30s, so what does this change? I have been seeing everyone on here running 320s and 330s with close to my set up and was wundering why mine was 290s to 300s. Does this explain why? I put the 310s back in tonight but didnt ride it, im sure it will be fat again but I have to try. I am also planning on getting a new reed cage set and im still not sure on wether to go with the v3s or the Chariot cages.
  11. I'm not sure what porting is done but I was told by the guy that I got it from that it has mild porting. I plan on taking picks when I open it up. Thanks for your replies.
  12. Ok thanks but I am only getting the cages not the intake. Do you think they are better all around than the v3s? How long are the reeds lasting on them? Thanks

  15. I was looking on ebay for reeds and found these Ebay post Has any one used these? any feed back? I know they use the 2 stage reeds and probably wont last as long as the v 3s.
  16. K thanks, that will be the plan today after work. As far as I know it has a high output stator, at least thats what I was told but i have no idea what kind.
  17. Im still working on the jetting. I stuck 290s in it today and moved the needle to the middle position and it ran good but i checked the plugs and it looked lean and reved out fast. Tommorrow I am planning on 300s and back to the forth needle position. its 50s and was rainy today at 180 elevation. All I have read says I should be at 320 or 330 but it wont rev out at all. It has pods and pipe and upgraded stator and from what I was told mild porting. The temp and humidity changes are making this a bit more interesting.
  18. What does the needle that comes with the T5 kit have on it? I pulled the needles today and they look like the stock 5N7 with the clip in the 4th spot from the blunt end. If this is not the right one should I get the right ones or just use what I have?Thanks for any imput.

  21. They are the stocks lights, one reflector housing is all plastic and the other one is metal and glass.
  22. I broke one of my head light lenses so I called up my local Yamaha shop and told him I needed one so he ordered it, he didnt ask what year i needed. So I went to pick it up today and it was plastic, the one I have is metal and glass. So what year do they change and are thay interchangeable? I have a 97 with the metal and glass lenses. I ordered new bulbs for 97 to 06, are they going to work. Thanks for any help you can give.
  23. So im stupid, the choke tube was off on 1 carb, so that fixed the idle issue. I put in the 310s and it is still running rich, I cant eavn get to the power band sooooo I will put in the 290s and see what the plugs look like. they are wet with the 310s.
  24. Ok so tonight i put 330s in with a set of pods and its about 30 degreas out. It startted fine but is idleing high. I pulled out the choke to the first notch and it slowed down. I checked the air screws and they were at 1 1/2. I tryed 2 turnes out but it made no difference. I reved it up and it was boggy and smoking like a pig. I think I fouled a plug because only 1 side was blowen. So tommorow I will try again. I didnt get to ride it so it may be way boggy, but we will see. I have a set of 310s and 290s to try tommorow. Any ideas that I havnt thought of? Thanks, Josh
  25. Correction, Im at 180ft. elevation. Im sure that makes a small difference.
