Hey whats up everybody...I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kyle and I have been lurking through the site for a few days now trying to figure out exactly what it is that im going to do to my Banshee. I gotta say that you guys are an EXCELLENT source of information and knowledge. I have learned a lot in the past few days about what works, who to go to for different work or advice, and most importantly which way to steer my build. I will be posting my progress and i apologize in advance fore the TONS of questions along the way as it will be my first frame up Banshee build. So any advice or comments you guys have will be very much appreciated.
THE RIDE: 1996 Banshee that is completely stock except for a rebuilt top end done many years back... it has sat for many years and i finally decided to turn it into the machine it needs to be.
THE PLAN: Build up to be a good all around machine. It will be used for mainly MX, Trails, Open fields, and the occasional drag race (who doesnt drag a banshee from time to time). I am not going to rush this build as i want to do it right the first time. If there is a part that can be upgraded i want it upgraded. The only goal that I have is to have a bad ass machine when it rolls out the garage (hopefully by next summer). Did i mention an empty bank account by the end? lol
THE MODS: I have a lot left to decide but heres the main direction im going... 4 mil stroker crank, Ported stock cylinders for MX or Aggressive Trail by either HJR, F.A.S.T., or Passion Racing (tough decision), Cool Head, advanced timing, pipes and carbs will be decided with the help of whoever does my porting as well as all of you. +2 A-arms and Elka Shocks all around, Elka rear linkage, sticking with stock swinger and axle (until you guys talk me out of it). Black plastics thinking fullbore but not sure yet and orange powdercoated frame (could change to red).
Thanks for reading the novel i just wrote and i look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments along the way. The Clymers should be on its way and teardown will begin soon.
