  1. So, we cleaned jets out and compression is good. What should we be looking at next ? I was thinking something having to to with spark. Like sparkplug boots or something like that.
  2. Exactly what I thought also. The pilot was totally clogged. Before we fixed it you couldnt even kick start it when cold, only push start. After we cleaned the carb up and un clogged the pilot it would kick start if the engine is cold but not if you just shut it off then try to start it again. I told him we prolly need to check compression, but I dindt have my guage with me.
  3. A friend of mine just got a banshee and it is giving him problems starting. It has LRD pipes and a 2 - 1 carb set up. It will start right up when cold. when engine is warm it cant be started by kicking it. It will start if we push start it tho. It runs just fine other thatn the starting issue. Any suggestions ? thanks
  4. cyclepartswarehouse.com will have them
  5. Several months ago I posted a couple of posts on the jetting forum stating that my banshee would run good till about 1/2 throttle then just fall on its face when hitting the power band. It was strange becouse I hadnt changed anything on the bike, it just started doing this out of the blue one day. I disassembled/cleaned the carbs several times, ended up buying new carbs, nothing fixed the problem. One day I was brousing around on here trying to figure out what the heck could be the problem. I ran across a post that had a rundown of how everything on the quad works, great read ! I put it in my favorites but we have since formatted it so now I cant remember what the link was. Anyway, upon reading about the coil I decided to buy another one and see if it solved my problelms. It did !! I just wanted to share with everyone my experience because there were several people describing the same symptons I was having and they couldnt figure it out either. The symptoms make you think its something with the carbs, but switching the coil solved my problem. Its been so long since the shee ran good I had almost forgotten how fun it is to rip everything up !
  6. Lick it N Stick it
  7. It took some work to get the airbox boots streached over them, but they will go. Also had to slightly bend the clutch arm down to clear the bowl.
  8. I am impressed with them. Big power improvement over factory carbs. They have a nut on the bottom of the bowls you can remove to change the mains. Just loosten the rubber boots tilt carb sideways and you can access the mains. It makes life so much easier! Got mine from carb parts warehouse, I told them what mains I had been using in the stock carbs and they sent the OKO's jetted pretty close to where they needed to be.
  9. Sorry for the delay, its been so hot out I havnt been fooling with much of anything thats outdoors. Yesterday I did a throttle chop and ended up going up to 165's. The plugs look good, but I would still like to try 170's, dont have any yet. Air screws are 1-1/2 turns out. Dont remember what slow jets are in it - whatever came with the carbs. The bike is running better than it has in years, have been putting up with sloppy/junky stock carbs for waaaaaay too long !!
  10. Just curious, the broblems you had were they what I have read about on here where something needed drilled out to allow more fuel in ?
  11. I think I'll try & find some of this clear tubing. They came with 160's ( I ran 340-350 mains in the factory carbs ). Thanks for the ideas guys!!
  12. Installing some 30mm OKO's and it's turning out to be alot more of a challange that I ever would have dreamed. The seller told me they would fit the stock carb/filter boots. Yea, they did after fighting with them for over an hour to get them to streach far enough. Now the fuel line is making me pull my hair out. The lines off stock carbs were too short, so went to local automotive store and got some 1/4" fuel line. Everything connects fine till putting it on the oko's. The nub that the line goes on is so small I cant keep it from leaking. First tried the clips that were on facroty lines, then zip ties, lastly hose clamps, still leaks !! Any other ideas, anyone ??
  13. I just got in some 30mm OKO's today. It was a son of a biscuit getting the stock boots over them! Mine came with 160 mains, but I have more engine mods ( was running 350 mains in the stock carbs). Had to bend the clutch arm down so the left one would clear. The right one rubs the clutch cable/cable holder, but I think it will be ok. Wont get to see how it runs till tomorrow, as I need a little more fule line.
  14. OK, thanks, I have a set coming. Was not paying alot of attention when I bid on them on ebay. Won the bid for under 200. When looking back over the auction I noticed it didnt specify the brand. I was guessing OKO, but wasnt sure. Hopefully they will perform as well as everyone says.
  15. Who makes 30mm D slide carbs ? Are they any good ?
