  1. So I got the bottom end together last night on my CR500. Crank is brand new with a new rod and it spun freely when it was on the clutch side bearing. I mated the 2 halves and initially it was binding at 1 spot but fine the rest of the way. I spun it over a few times now it spins freely with no issues. Should I be concerned about this?

  2. You will get at least 2.6 zillion opinions about this.

    Mine:

Most any pipe will give you a performance boost in the upper revs, and take away from the bottom end as compared to the stock pipe. I say if you can get them for real cheap, go for it, if not, wait for a pair of pro circuit or FMF gnarly pipes. For YOUR situation, though, the first thing I would recommend is to bump up your compression. This will give you some much needed grunt on the bottom end. Something else you should do is when you pull your head offf, go ahead and pull your cylinders off and do a "clean up" port job, basically smoothing out the flow. While at this you can match up the liner to the exhaust port (aluminum part). This, in conjunction with the head mod will give you a very noticeable boost in performance and grunt for climbing those hills. You might be happy with this for now and save some money.

That said, I don't know much about the ct pipe. However IMO, it is worth waiting for a set of pro circuits, which you really can't go wrong with unless you have a dedicated drag bike.

CT products are typically well above par, though...

From what I heard if you want more bottom end get a dynaport 2 into 1 pipe and +4 timing plate

  3. so heres the deal. my bikes stator got trashed and i need a new one. I've heard lots of bad things about rm stators and ricky stators. so i was wondering if the moose stators are any other aftermarket stators that are worth buying. i just dont have enought cash for a $ 413 stator from the dealer so i was wonder which aftermarket one would be best

    Thanks for you help

I bought a ricky stator for my kx250 within a month it crapped out... I then picked up a moose one for the kx and installed it back in 2007... Still using it with no problems

  4. Yea I'm running klotz supertechniplate now. I just ran a tank of 40:1 I mixed 12.6oz to exactly 3 gals of gas. The Klotz does smell awesome. Anyone had any issues with there rings freezing while running this stuff? I mostly trail ride and I was reading the klotz supertechniplate is not recommended for trail riding.

what about that ipone oil? I've used it in my shee love the smell, and after tearing it down it seems to have put less wear on my motor opposed to amsoil dominator

  5. My ride group "Windy City Dune Assault Squad" hits SilverLake every month. We're thinking about an early season trip on May 21,22,23. (We'll stay in a hotel that weekend cause it might still be a little cold and or wet.)

June we'll be up the 11,12,13 and all summer stays are at "The SilverLake Resort and Campground" http://www.silverlakerc.com/

July we'll be up the 16,17,18

August we'll be up the 20,21,22

September we'll be up the 24,25,26 (this is a hotel weekend as it's my anniversary weekend)

Anybody, feel free to PM me if your wanting to meet up. ToomeySheeLE=(Brad) and his group of 15 people from Ontario Canada and Dozer520=(Tom) and his group of 12 people from Pennsylvania met up with us last September and we had a ball! Let me know if you need any info. We'll be going to the West Michigan Sand Dragway on Friday nights when they have a test and tune that matches up with our trip weekends.

im from toronto ontario and i go down often... anyone else from ontario that goes down?

  6. I am having a problem hitting water holes hard. Never had this problem before but since I have been running these PTR pipes I cant hit water holes hard. If I ease into them and keep the revs up its fine but if I just fly into them it stalls out. After a bit of letting it idle and letting it "dry" out it will run fine again. Now the two things I have thought of are, I dont have the jetting just right and am fouling the plugs when I hit the water. ALso these are the older PTRs that dont run an exhaust gasket so water may be getting in through the exhaust flange and getting the plugs wet. I have heard of banshees reving high when hitting water holes but am not sure whats going on here. I may have to put my 916s on but really wanted to keep them off the trail bike. One more thing no leaks before the cylinders and water isnt getting in the air box.

Maybe your getting water on your plug wires causing them to short????
