  2. so no one out there is willing to help? plez i know theres someone close. thanx everybody.
  3. hello, I have two 93 banshees and I purchased almost everything I need to rebuild. i got the cylinder work done, new cranks, new piston kits, billet water impellers, adjustable timing plates, i just got the torque wrenches, Im ready. lol i have two manuals n a dvd, I'm sure I can do it with a lil help. Is there anyone in my area that has rebuilt bottom & top ends, that might be willing to help? Im in Orange, Ca. I am willing to compensate whoever can help out. beer and food provided. Thanx -Michael 714-470-6995 [email protected]
  4. I installed a new billet water impeller in the side cover for my buddies Shee first. I pressed out the bearing n seal. installed new oil seal and the bearing seemed to roll fine so i installed it and the rest of the setup: the pin, gear, washer, then clip. didnt put the gasket and cover yet. wanted to get the input from here 1st before I close 'er up. Question is when I put the washer on I could barely see enough room for the clip to fit, but I still tried to get the clip on and couldnt. so I took a razor blade and took a few scrapes at the underside of the gear where the pin sits, and I finally got the clip in. But its a very tight fit and i triple checked to make sure the clip is secure. But with the tight fit the gear and impeller dont turn as easy as "I THINK" they should. Is the gear rubbing on the underside of the it? Is this something to worry about or will it not even effect the assembly or engine? Am I being paranoid already? My first rebuild and I got my friends and my banshee I just bought to build bottom end and top. Hell Yeah cant wait to get these fine machines going. Thanks Mike
  5. if they dont just go out, and if the play between the basket and the gear isnt(might not be) the cushions then what do you guys think it might be? if its not the cushions. Thanks Again Mike
  6. my friend has a Banshee Moose Clutch Basket Hinson and he said there is some play between the basket and the driven gear. do the cushions need to be replaced and/or how hard is it to replace these on this setup? is this a good setup i was thinking about getting one of these after market baskets. my cylinders cleaned up at 65.25mm should i get an aftermarket basket? thanks mike
  7. Thanks Bro. i appreciate the help
  8. do u think that's what i need from what i said? hope this helps! thank God for lil borthers. man four years ago i was teaching him.
  9. I think its a few rubber bushings in the top and bottom of both front shocks that need to be replaced but not sure. I looked at the parts I needed here at this website but it doesnt specify that the same part number for the top of the shocks works for the bottom of the shocks (http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=20728&category=ATVs&make=Yamaha&year=1993&fveh=529). Can someone help? do you know for sure that if I buy four of the (#34 DAMPER, BUSH B 59V-2331R-00-00) parts listed for the tops of the shocks will they also work for the bottom of the shocks? (2 for left side and 2 for right side, top and bottom) I have pictures but I can't get them to post. Darn NEWBIES! Thanks hope I made sense. Mike
  10. Thanks guys
  11. I've seen several different yamabonds out there 4,5,6b,7, etc. which one is the best to use when putting my banshee case back together? Thanks for the input. Mike
  12. if that's the case do you think it just needs to be tightened a little more? if not what do you think my problem is? I had my wheel bearing assembly go out on a 1998 Chevy blazer so that's why i thought it could be a wheel bearing in this case with my Shee. Thanks Mike
  13. The guy I bought it from said the crank bearing went out. the piston came up and hit the head. When i got the bike the motor was already taken apart. It looked like they split the case without removing the flywheel, etc. (the tranny gear clusters where still attached to the clutch and the drive sprocket. also the flywheel, stator and adj timing plate where all still attached to the crank. the bearing stopper plate was broke in two pieces. The flywheel threads are shot, my flywheel puller wouldn't even thread in. Two of the adj timing plate mounts where broke.) this guy sold it to me for $1000 and agreed to help me rebuild my banshee and my friends banshee (same prob needs new crank and top end. our cylinders are at the shop.) when I get the parts for no xtra cost. After seeing what he did to it I am having doubts about having him help us with the two rebuilds. I'm new to learning the ins and outs of the Banshee, I've learned alot so far but I think I know more than him. what do you guys think?
  14. I just bought a 93 banshee, and I've been looking over it seeing what needs to be replaced. I see that the back left tire/rim moves a lil (when you grab it from the top and bottom and wiggle back and forth). Might need to be tightened or I think its the wheel bearings, not sure? I want to get some input on "insurance". I need to replace the crank, top-end, and head. so far. My main question is while I have it open since I don't know how it was taken care of, should I replace the (I think) four bearings on the tranny clusters? Do they usually go bad? Do they spin super fast to where I might need to replace them? Should I do it now? Also, If anyone wants to input on any other things that might need replacing, please feel free. I'm aware of certain mods, but as for now I'm thinking about things that are a little more important such as preventive maintenance. I'm sure I'm getting a high-flow water impeller. Thank for the help! Mike
  15. Thanks for the input!
  16. oh yeah if they r different which is better should i get the more expensive one?
  17. I am rebuilding my friends 1993 Banshee and we bought a Hotrods crank in box delivered for $371. (the middle bearings are readish) It looks sick. we bought a Wiseco prolite top end kit delivered for $175. (371+175=546) plus oil seal kit and gaskets = more money. I just bought a 1993 Banshee for a $Grand$ it needs a crank, top-end kit, and a head. (so far, I just got it tonight and didn't have much time to look.) It is bored .020 over, freshly rebuilt carbs, stock pipes, twist throttle, t.o.r.s. eliminator kit, new tires, new chain, 200w stator from ricky stator, ricky stator pick up coil and ignition coil., more I think I still need to look. but it sounds like it needs the same things almost as my buddies. Is this a better deal? I saw on ebay a Wiseco crank with Hotrods connecting rods, and a Wiseco top end kit and the oil seal kit and gaskets for like $500. ( HotRods crank and Wiseco crank w/ HotRods connecting rods) are these two cranks the same or are they different. Thank You for your help Mike
  18. hey whats up everybody. I'm new, I was wondering everybody's input on swing arm extension. whats better a/j-arm extension or swing arm extension? I know if i do the swing arm I need a new chain or can i extend the one I have now. does it consist of different mounting to the frame or the axle? Thanks Mike
  19. Thanks I appreciate the input Mike
  20. Thanks do u know if the cir clip should have came with the crank or do i need to buy that separate? Thank again Mike
  21. I bought a hot rods crank and all it came with was the little bearings that go in the upper connecting rod (forget what they are called.....wristpin bearing?) and the crank of course. I was wondering if it should have came with the cir clip/s that goes on the crank bearings? Also is there supposed to be two clips/ one on each side of the crank where the cut outs are on the crank bearings or and o-ring on one side and the cir clip on the other or what? I guess I should read the manual more, but to my understanding the stock crank has little tabs that sit in a cut-out in the case, but a hot rods crank doesn't have the little tabs. Please help me determine the correct way of installation. Thanks Mike
  22. do I need this gasket (Water Impeller (pump) cover gasket) when rebuilding a banshee bottom and top end? I have these new parts here or coming (Hot Rods crank stock stroke, wiseco 64mm stock bore top end kit, flywheel puller, oil seal kit - i think 7 all together - , service manual, MAYBE a adjustable timing plate.) I know I need a lot of odds and ends. (like yamabond 4, tranny oil, coolant, new spark plugs, clutch side crankcase gasket, etc.) Can somebody suggest things I might have left out. I know I might need other specialty tools besides the flywheel puller. Not sure what ones are necessary and which ones aren't. I've seen two different kinds of torque wrenches, which is better? I heard I need to repack the exhaust pipes (Toomey T5s) often, should I do it now? Should I have the carbs synced and rejetted? oh yeah, the crank i bought (I think I said this in another forum: came with one o-ring sitting in its little cut out, in the bearing, on one side, but no o-ring in the little cut out on the other side.) I heard that a clip thing goes there. My question is: is this clip supposed to come with the crank in the box? all that was in the box was the crank with connecting rods/bearings etc and these two little bearings. I think for the piston end of the connecting rods. sorry for so many questions Thank You Mike
  23. thanks guys. new to this site still learning. I know alot of computer stuff but I'm still learning tha art of the BANSHEE! talk to u guys soon
  24. Does a timing plate eliminate the woodruff key? also does a Hot Rods crank in the box come already trued?(I dont think I see welds on it.) my buddy's banshee, that we r working on, has K&N air filter, Tommey T5s, I think its jetted too(not sure, my understanding is that if it has pipes then it is always jetted) I'm still learning. It might have other mods. Then I think I'm going to get the modded shift star, timing plate, and um I think that's it for now.(other than replacing the crank and top end. Hot Rods and Wiseco. stock bore) I want to port and polish the cylinders but dont have the money now. So with these few mods or keeping in mind maybe down the road I might port and polish, should I get the crank trued and welded? and if so do you know of a good shop to have it done at close to me in so. cal. (Orange, CA 92868) oh yeah the crank came with one lil rubber o-ring on one side but not on the other side. I called the company I got it from and he said you dont really need those, he said the oil seal kit is what actually makes the seal. he said people have called him in the past and said, "hey my o-rings are gone" after they opened the engine when servicing. He also said some clip thingy goes there. (sorry I tried to word it so u can understand it. let me know if I was confusing.) Is he correct? Also, When I opened the shipping box I took out the factory box and noticed on the bottom the was a puncture and it looked like an oil ring around the puncture. upon opening the box I noticed that the foam bottom was smashed down (I think by the weight of the crank and mishandling by humans). I picked up the crank and the plastic wrapped around the crank was punctured also, thus leaking some of the oil in with the plastic wrapped crank and allowing some of the foam material to get onto the crank because there was a lil hole all the way through the box/plastic. I dont see a dent in the crank but its hard material and thats besides the point. I emailed them to see what they say. what do you think? I think if this product did get dropped or whatever happened to cause this damage that it will compromise the reliability of this product especially with an important internal part such as the crank. HELP! Thanks Mike
