Oh yea I remember Matt! he actually did a rear shock for me years ago. Awesome work. Hope he is well.

Simply price. I have two builds in process right now. One is my personal bike that's getting all the funds and nice goodies. The other is a fairly stock shee that I am simply trying to make look nice to keep as a back up or to sell. The shocks work fine, they are just beat up.

Who can rebuild stock shocks? Not only the performance aspect but who can polish the bodies and powder the springs.

Picked up a new 100% stock banshee
gizmoman replied to Buckeye513's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Saw a pristine stock 06' SE black banshee for sale a couple weeks ago. Guy had it in storage for 12 years and it was never started unless to be moved. I wanted it but didn't want to drop $5500 -
As the title states, I'm debating on getting back into the banshee game as a summer project. Basically building a shee from the ground up without a doner bike. I've got the chassis components almost figured out but the engine I have not. I don't want to start this project and find out later the engine is outrageously expensive. Essentially I'm just trying to figure out how much it would be to fill a set of empty cases with new OEM parts. Only talking about the bottom end here minus the crank. I'm gonna go with a 10mil 521 serval and already have a basic idea of what those components cost. I'm thinking about buying an engine stand and taking this project on for myself, as it would be a good learning experience. Offtopic: Who can I speak too about getting my username changed? I don't want to make a new account just to change names.

Non-drag frame and plastic options nowadays?
gizmoman replied to gizmoman's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I don't see anything that indicates that I can't order an oem frame. Looks like ~$700 from Yamaha parts house. -
If someone was in the market for a new frame and plastics that don't suck, what's their options? It looks like full bore is out so that leaves OEM?

Well hello everyone! It's been so long since I've been on here. I remember browsing this forum every day after I bought my first banshee and later on posting a build log of when I took on a complete tear down and rebuild myself, I think I was probably 15 or 16 years old at the time. I ended up moving out of my rural hometown when I was 18 and ATV's took a backseat until now. This summer I'll be moving back to where I can ride again and I'd love to get back on a shee. I'm thinking about buying an OEM frame and building it from the ground up with aftermarket parts. In the meantime I still have my old stock 05' shee that's never been rebuilt, I rode the piss out of it for years and it'll still start within' 3 kicks after not being touched in ages.

If I'm just cruising at say 1/4-1/2 throttle and then peg it, it hesitates just a little then builds rpm really slow. I'm probably missing out on alot of power should probably be at a 162-165 main.
-
I'm running rich on top with the 175s but my bottom and mid range is great.
-
My setup is about the same as yours except with 39pwks and i'm running 175 mains,50pilot,cel middle clip.
-
I have some big 20 degree angled k&ns on right now, and the outerwears are melted from the pipes. but if the 2 airbox mount tabs or w/e weren't there then i could angle them where it doesn't touch the exhaust. I also had some small uni pod filters on it before and it cleared fine.

These are shearers

codybby on xbox also add me if anyone wants to play mw2
-
A little lower than i expected but still nice, really wish i could find a local dyno to compare the different settups.
-
Sure is, exhaust is shearers the rest of the mods are in my sig. Im ready to see the numbers 05stroker puts down with his settup, should be interesting.

I assume your talking about mine, i'm still working out the electrical / jetting issues with it
-
I changed the stator and it fixed the problem in the video. I was riding yesterday and everything seemed fine until it started running like crap and would'nt rev up just popping. Not sure whats going on, the coil is grounded but i didn't touch the motor mounts. I put a bigger main in and dropped the needle. i don't have a meter to test with but i rode today a little and it ran fine.
-
So i can't get this thing to run right, it cuts out on the top end i tried switching ignition coils and no change. This is frustrating... jetting is 158 mains,54 pilot, needle on 2nd clip, airscrew 1.5 turns out. plugs are a light brown color and it seems like its gonna run ok until i get the rpms up. short vid of what i'm talking about
-
Ok so i'm trying to get the serval dialed so it can actually run right. mods are in my sig, i'm running the needle on the 4th clip,52 pilot, airscrew 1/2 turn out, 160main the temps are around 30-50F. So to my problem when idling it loads up and has a low end bog and i have to work the throttle to get the revs up (thats with the airscrew at 1/4 and 1/2) at 1 to 1.5 turns out it idles high but doesn't load up on idle but the bogging moves up to the mid range and sounds crappy when you hit the powerband. Any suggestions? was running a 50 pilot before and same problem
-
Nevermind i'm finding some interesting topics about this.
-
How does one adjust floats and ensure they are working properly? i think mine has been getting stuck (gas pouring out of carb) and i don't wanna screw anything up. 28pwks by the way

I had a raptor 700 before i got my banshee and it was nothing but problems the EFI went out and other stuff which ultimately led to the engine blowing up after a year and it was stock. I always wanted a banshee but missed out on all the opportunitys to get one until i finally got my 05' about 2 years ago i threw a timing plate, pipes, and an airfilter on and didn't even touch the jetting at all it was all stock when i got it, i ride the s*** out of it still even today and never once had a problem out of it not even a rebuild yet and i only changed the spark plugs once or twice and i didn't even have to then, maybe i'm lucky for that but i would never go back to that raptor to many electrical problems and the stealership quoted me 2500$$ to fix it no way, as of now its sitting in back of a shop in pieces and i doubt it will ever get fixed. But to be fair it was no doubt fun to ride it was great for just about anything it was an awesome all around play bike and had good power really good for trails slow or fast paced ones. I would in no way trade a shee for it though and thats my .02
