  2. I dont even know wtf a jet looks like , lol . the needle in my right carb is sticking because fuel keeps dripping out of the bottom hole on the carb , so i may have to take it back apart again and check it . It also back fires ALOT , if im trying to go WOT it will backfire then take off like a bat out of hell . As far as those little gold spacer inbetween the carb boot and cylinder , is that factory ? Thanks again guys . Yea i would hate for this thread to get SOT (super off topic) and we start bashing each other , altho it is funny as shit , haha Looks like i found another forum that i like , haha . Im here to fuck shit up (step brothers )
  3. As in tea bag'n ? wow just wow , LMAO !
  4. UPDATE ! Put on the new cleaned carbs and the bitch started right up and then died , i then did a little bit of adjustment and started it up again , started the first kick !!!! and then idled fine , i was so f'n happy i just threw the seat on it and took it up the drive way and back . Now for the new problem , its hard to get going , as in it BOGS and hesitates and then DAMN WOT , crazy quick , lol . What would cause the bogging issue ? like you got to rev it rev it rev it and let out on the clutch little by little before it will take off , then if your crusing at maybe 5-10mph in 1st and hammer it , it bogs down like BLAH then picks up and lifts the wheels off the ground(scared the shit out of me) and then takes off . Sorry to make you guys fight and argue , lol . ANY help is appreciated . I think this things got reeds allready installed aswell ? its goes carb , boot , gold (looks to be a 1/4") spacer then the head (i guess) ? This thing might be built i have no clue i have never rode another banshee before .
  5. ^If you can provide pics and the guy above me dont take it , i will will take it if you take paypal ? This installs in the stock box too correct? kinda new to this .
  6. She be running tonight , the air filter and the carrier is a must have tho , the other stuff is a looks kinda deal and i must have OCD or something , lol . I just bought a billet twin row carrier for the stock axles off ebay for 58 bux shipped that someone had dropped , but it wouldnt effect it any . O and nice truck ! Im fixing to sale my caliber and pick me up another silverado . I want a crew cab 4x4 duramax 05-06 OR a 07-08 ext cab 5.3l 4x4 . I got an 02 right now thats a regular cab that i drive to work and back .
  7. I just got paid on my intercooler i sold and have some money in my paypal account ($550) . Do any of you know if any of the vendors or people on here that sales parts takes paypal ? I need a peices for sure that im going to go ahead and order while i got some money . Going to go ahead and order Headlights (both mine are busted out) Airbox filter (suggestions on what kind ?) rear carrier(they sale the twin roll on ebay for like $150 , suggestions?) Need some new grips for the handle bars , one of mine is gone Need some new radiator plastics and gas tank plastics all 3 of mine are long gone AND MAYBE a new clutch (suggestions on what kind ?) And maybe an adjustable timing plate( will i need to rejet anything for this mod?) Thanks again SORRY I ASK SO MANY QUESTIONS
  8. Ahh man you wouldnt beleive how nasty those carbs were , they were terible . The floats and the needles all looked up to par , but they had so much gunk in the bottoms of them i had to use a Q-tip to scoop it all out . Then i sprayed them all real good with carb cleaner and shot 140+ psi air through them in all the little orfices etc. and used a torch tip cleaner to clean out all the little holes . They should be good to go now . I know when it was running this mofo would definetly scoot out thats for sure , i just assumed they were all like that , lol . Im going to reinstall them tonight and see what happens , also going to go ahead and check the spark and see what it looks like aswell . Updates later on this evening when i get off work
  9. We rebuild wrecked vehicles and we always just used 500 degree black high temp paint on the older vehicles that showed some fin damage . BUT they sale it in many diffrent colors , shouldnt effect the way the radiator works at all . You can pick it up at advance auto or walmart for around 7 bux a can .
  10. Yea i bought 4 new plugs , lol . When you say re-set the pickup gap what do you mean ? I also need to go ahead and change the clutch anyway probably , but that will be at a later time . I would like to get it running and idling correctly first , i still got to order a new rear carrier aswell . Once i get it up to par im going to disassemble it and do some paint work to it . I got about a quart of the blue left from the caliber so i will probably paint the frame and control arms blue and get some black plastics and black wheels , but idk yet . Thanks again!
  11. I havent checked the spark yet , i will do that today before i reinstall the carbs and the fuel tank . Magz i rechecked the compression last night and i was right at 125 and 120 , my relese valve on my compression tester was loose cuasing the air to leak i tightened it up and those were the results . The carbs are real good and clean now , took me about an hour to get them both good and clean . so hopefully i can get it running tonight sometime , sux having to work til 5 , haha Thanks for the help again !
  12. They are mikuni corp 's ? They both look identical and they both have push down chokes , and they were NOT linked together other than by the "T" in the fuel line . Heres the pics of them , they were FILTHY ! im still cleaning one of them up . They were on the quad when we got it 10 years ago . Took the bottoms of them off and had a pretty good pile of gunk, dirt and debris . EDIT I JUST MEASURED THE CARBS 28mm on one side and 40mm on the other side , which is stock *i think*
  13. These pods your talking about , do they hook directly to the carbs? I dont plan on abusing it that much , im real anal about getting stuff done right and keep it that way . Also anyone know i read on another post somewhere on here that there is a hose that connects the 2 carbs together like a choke ? what it that ? the only thing that linked mine together was the main feed line ? Thanks again!
  14. I just REDID the compression test , the release valve on the tester was loose causing it to leak air , lol . Now i got 123-124 in the left cylinder and around 118-119 in the right cylinder . So now i should be good right ? I need a new airbox anyway , the boots were good , but the filter assembly thing is gone and one of the rear tabs is broken off of the stock box . Any suggestions on a good upgraded airbox or do i need to get a new filter and go with it ? Just got 2 cans of carburetor cleaner aswell so im going to get them good and cleaned up tonight and put them back on either tonight or in the morning sometime , that is if the gaskets dont fall apart first . Whats a good gasket set ? or would it pay me to just order a carb rebuild kit and get the gaskets with it ? Thanks for the help so far guys .
  15. Im very mechanic freindly , been rebuilding cars for over 13 years . I will do another comp. test this evening and we can go from there . Heres my most recnt project i got finished . I turned this Into this , took me 3 months ALL work done by yours truly
  16. If i were to take a pic of my carbs could someone here tell me if the TORS are removed ? I didnt take the throttle cables off of them i just took the 2 screws off the top and pulled them out like that . the tops , throttle cable , needle and the plastic carb plate is still on the quad .
  17. Thanks for the help , the compression tester i used was a matco , BUT i had to keep my finger held down on the release valve because it leaked . Im going to try another tester this evening that will actually hold its own . If it is the compression , i guess i will look into a top end rebuild . I assume these arent anything like a car because when you look at top end on a vehicle your talking about the valves , lash adjusters , cams , etc . BUT on this thing it seems like the top end is the pistons , etc. ? crazy , lol .
  18. Just took mine off last night , VERY straight forward , common sense . Take the seat off , remove the stock airbox(kinda a pita has to slide forward out of some grooves) , then you will pull off the fuel lines (make sure your fuel is off!) and take a phillips head screw driver and take the clamps loose on the engine side and they just pop right off . Make sure you mark them left or right tho .
  19. My elevation is 11-1200 ft , but i live up in mountain areas all the way up to 5k feet , but i dont plan to ride that high . The highest i will ever go is maybe 2k feet . I have zero mods , stock . The TORS i dont even see , i had no wiring at all on my carbs , so idk on that . We bought this thing back in 97-98 from an auto auction as a theft recovery , rode it very little and its sat in the basement for the last 5 years . Only riding im going to be doing is on the street , on the farm , and maybe a little trail riding , but thats about it . Just talked to another guy about my compression and he told me it may be low compression due to me trying to start it so much that i washed the cylinder walls down . Im up for any and ALL types of suggestions and help . I just want to get this thing running again and have some fun , lol . Im selling my intercooler off my 08 caliber srt4 today for $550 so i will have a little money to spend and hopefully get this thing on its feet again . Once again Thank You to everyone for the help so far , You guys got a top notch forum here and im glad i found it
  20. You my freind are one smart individual! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I will definetly get the carbs cleaned and stuff and go ahead and order the syn tool i need and get the carrier , carb gaskets , etc. on their way . ^but according to the guy above me i need to reubild the top end ? would that be why 5 years ago the powerband would come on strong sometimes and quit working the next pull ?
  21. Just went and did the compression test , it was right at 80 on the left cylinder and at 85 on the right cylinder . Whats it suppose to be on these things ?
  22. Plugs were black as coal and they had a little on the threads , but ont on the tip itself , the tips were both black . And yes it smelt like fuel terribly bad , like it was flooded . I will check the spark this evening when i get home , and i guess an regular matco compression tester will work ? we have a few of those at the shop i can take home . Its hard to kick over so i assumed the compression was good , lol . I may run home in a minute and check the compression and report back Im going to have to read again on the carbs because even with them in front of me i dont know what the pilots, mains and clips are lol . They stink like old fuel so bad it isnt even funny , i can almost gurantee that they are clogged like no other . Thanks for the help ! Its definetly a start for sure
  23. I picked up a 96 banshee from my dad (basically gave it to me) It hasnt been rode in about 5 years or so , still had fuel in the tank , OLD OLD OLD fuel , so i drained that out . Went to the store and got some motul and i went ahead and bought 4 new spark plugs, and 2 gallons of 93 octane , i wasnt sure how to mix it up so i called the place i got the mixture from , he told me 4 ounce's per gallon , so i put in 8 ounces to the 2 gallons of 93 octane . I then put the new gas in, and new plugs in and put the chokes on *i think* , isnt the choke ON when they are pushed down ? Then i commenced wearing my leg out , i kicked for probably 30 minutes with no start at all . I called the store i bought my mixture from and he told me to get a LITTLE bit of starting fluid and take the filter off and spary a little down in each carb , which i did and it started after maybe 3 or 4 kicks , it ran , but the revs were crazy high and then it died after about 5 seconds or so and when it died it sounded like it had a blow out (like compression shot out of the carbs?). then it would not start back to save its life . I then talked to my dad and he told me NOT to spray any more either that it could damage the motor ? so i didnt . My question is , what do you think the starting point for me is on this thing ? Rebuild the carbs ? clean them ? Something else wrong ? This thing never has really ran right , even 5 years ago it was a hard start and it ran fine after it warmed up , but sometimes the powerband would work and sometimes it wouldnt ? I have been reading the jetting , how carbs work , etc. , but i still dont uunderstand where i need to start at here . Im at around 11-1200 ft (thanks to the one sticky thread) I also have to change out my carrier bearings , mine is shot and you can see where at the back its rubbing metal to metal and the rear end sways back and forth(bearings definetly shot) Can anyone recomend a good rear carrier(stock maybe with new bearings?) Thanks everyone for their help , im into rebuilding cars(Me and my dad own a junk yard and buy and fix wrecked vehicles), not atv's , but i want to get into ATV's and quit blowing money on my car's .
