  1. I am running BR8ES plugs, nothing on them, and they look good. Wet even from the 170 mains.
  2. The domes are custom cut for my set up, as were the 24cc ones I had in before these. Kevin did the first ones, and I believe he had Dave Noss do these with his design. And I am tightening the plugs down the same as I always would, I am afraid of overtightening them if I go any further.
  3. Okay well first off, this is going to be a long post and I'll try to keep it as simple as possible. I have an HJR built stock cylinder 4mil w/ a dune port. 35mm pwk's, 170 mains, needle in center, air screw 2 turns out, @ ~800ft elevation in SW Michigan. It's got a cool head with 25cc domes running 120psi in each cylinder. (Brand new motor with maybe 5hrs). I started out with 24cc domes set up for running premium 92 octane. I had a plug back out on me a few times, then for an unrelated issue I blew one side via a cracked piston. After talking it over with Kevin we decided that maybe it be best for me to go up to a 25cc dome to drop the compression some since I don't want to have to run 110. This dropped me from 155psi before the rebuild to 120psi after. I have since ridden it some and am still having an issue with plugs backing out. Mostly on the right side. My timing is set at +5. Today I tried some 100LL which made the bike run a little better but after only about 15-20min of riding, including 4-5 passes down our ~300ft strip I stopped to check plug tightness, the left side was tight, and the right was loose enough to spin it with a finger. I immediately called Kevin to update him that the 100octane still didn't solve the problem even with 120psi compression. There are no air leaks, the bike is seemingly running perfect save this issue. We are both stumped as to how or why this could be happening given the circumstances. I realize it is indicating detonation, but neither of us can figure out how that's possible with 120psi on 100octane. I should have time to do a squish test this evening and will post the numbers if I can, if not probably tomorrow morning. Have thought of retarding the timing a few degrees, but it doesn't seem like that could be the cause because I should be able to go to 6 or 7 even with this low of compression on 100octane. Again sorry for the long post but I'm desperate. If I've forgotten anything that you'd like to know let me know. I need ideas!!
  4. Did you try trading quads and see if you get the same results.. Maybe you're just a better rider.
  5. Lol funny how every1 stopped doggin it so much when you posted the garage with all the other bikes in it. Between my 4mil, corey's 4mil, your 10, and your wifes there's a shit ton of money/power parked in there. And the R too. And as weird as it is, the rack does look pretty decent in person.
  6. Maybe FMF's, Toomey's, etc.. Definitely not CPI/Shearer, they are more top/mid pipes for stronger motors.
  7. Roundhouses are SO much nicer anyway, so in the end you did yourself a favor.
  8. I may be interested. Can you PM me a price for the whole front end, plus rear shock with shipping to 49046 in MI. Also, it's my understanding that the YFZ a-arms basically give you a +2 +1 up front? Is the raptor shock longer then the stock banshee shock? Also did this whole setup raise the ride height of the bike at all?
  9. Ah! thanks guys! I just deleted all of the cookies and everything is A-OK.
  10. I know this isn't the right section but an identical post made in the forum help section has gone unanswered for almost 2 weeks. Anyway, a couple days ago I opened up HQ and started reading threads but all of a sudden when I view a thread all I see is the original post, then I scroll down and there is a list of links to all the other posts in the thread and I have to click each one indivisually to read them. WTF is up? This is very annoying and I need to get it back to normal where you can see all the posts in the thread.
  11. Pics of six pack rack please. Email is [email protected] thanks.
  12. Just buy an EZ pull lever, and lube your cable and/or buy a new one.
  13. What are you guys doing for your break ins? I'm just about to finish my HJR 4mil hopefully this week when I get my intake(he forgot to put it on). I asked him about what he suggested for breaking it in but he said he doesn't worry about it lol. I was planning on just mixing half a tank or so of like 26:1 with my 927 and taking it easy for the first few hours.
  14. When I posted I didn't realize it was going to be $2900 for the 'shee. I suppose if you want something to hop on and ride, you will be happier with the 450. That does seem overpriced for a Banshee too, I paid $1300 for my 2001 with a brand new top end, and works shocks up front. Anyhow good luck with the new quad!
  15. Well you have to think that you are spending more than DOUBLE the money to get the YFZ compared to the Banshee. If you were to buy the Banshee and were willing to mod it some, you could have a FAR more fun quad than a stock YFZ and still have money left over. And for what it's worth, Banshee's are way more comfortable.
  16. Looks really clean and will be a nice base to start building from. You will have fun with it, and if you don't already with the pipes, you will soon be much much faster than the z.
  17. Wow JasonsBanshee, where did you get that grille? I like that a lot, nice bike. As for the bars, I like the cheapo MSR's. I'd just assume my bars bend/break before something more expensive.
  18. Count me in for a Maybe, along with a few buds.
  19. Silver Lake is here in Michigan.
  20. Well.. I chose to go with HJR and have been extremely happy so far, I should get my motor back Friday and can't wait to get it back together. I think you would be pleased with the results from either Jeff or Kevin.
  21. I too am in Michigan, and I chose to send my entire motor all the way to HJR so I could have Kevin build it. (It's on it's way back now, and I am going nuts!) It only cost about $90 to ship the whole thing, which was about 85lbs. So far it has been WELL worth it, and I can only imagine that I will be even more satisfied once I get it up and running. By the way, what shop in MI were you looking at?
  22. I and some friends may be up for this trip. I'll have to ask them, I know we are heading to the Bridgeton weekend June 13/14, and doing Memorial Day at Baldwin/maybe Silver Lake but I want to go somewhere sooner so I'll see what they think. It would be about 4 or 5 of us. How much riding area is there? Any good play areas and/or hills to climb? Scenery?
  23. The strip is soft dirt/sand. You could run paddles on it for sure, this is what I have done in the past and might do again..
  24. Well if you are already registered then you wouldn't have to do it again, then it's just like $10 to race. I can't remember to be honest if there are cash prizes too. As far as classes go on the dirtbike side they range from the kids on 50's all the way up to open with harley's on 110 and nitrous. In the past they've only had a Quad class with like 0 to 400 or so maybe cc and then an open. They hasn't been many quads racing unfortunately, but we should have 4 or 5 this year just from my party. This is one of the most fun riding trips I've ever taken by far.
  25. Alright guys I just got the dates for this event. It's going to be the weekend of June 13-14. For those of you who've never heard of this event I'll give you a rundown of how things work. It is hosted by the Muskegon Motorcycle Club at Dan Raymond Park. There is over 200 acres of private land that is open to camping/riding. It is $30 for the whole weekend from Friday to Sunday, $20 for Sat/Sun, or $10 for Sunday. They have I believe 2 mx tracks(varying sizes), a TT track, 2 hillclimb walls, and a 300ft dirt drag strip w/ tree lights that is under flood lights at night. When you arrive you are allowed to camp wherever you like, and basically are left on your own to do what you please. As far as the races/hillclimbs are concerned, anyone can race as long as you are AMA registered(you can do this at the event, $50 for a year I think). Unfortunately quads are not permitted to hillclimb in the events. You can run them in the TT and the drags though. Drags start Saturday night when it gets dark out, many different classes by engine size, etc.. Trophies are given to the winners of each class and after that is done you can race anyone for $1 a run. This is geting to be a long post so I'll sum it up, tons of room, tons of fun, tons of riding, and tons of beer. I'll be heading up Friday morning/afternoon and staying through till Sunday night. This event is also plenty of fun for friends who don't ride as well, I've got plenty that come to just hang out. We've got my 4mil, a 450r, 660r craptor, crf450, and maybe a few other banshee's including a 10mil cub. I'd like to get a strong showing of Banshee's for the quad drag class which has been rather punk in recent trips since most people bring they're bikes for the hillclimb and mx races so they just drag those too. Anyway lets see if we can get some people in on this. It's located in Grant, MI at Dan Raymond Park June 12, 13, 14.
