  1. Hey guys I'm about to tear the banshee apart and start my rebuild but am a bit stuck on the powdercoating part due to the fact that in my part of the world I'm yet to find a powdercoater that is anywhere the quality of the work I see on here. Now obviously I can't exactly get my frame and swinger done due to the size and shipping costs. But I would a few things jazzed up like the brake And sproket hub, rear caliper and all 4 hubs. Now, what I think would be the most cost effective approach would be for me to purchase the parts and send them to the powdercoater direct. So any of the powder coated keen to take on this task, please PM me. Cheers, ned
  2. get a woods/play port and the above mentioned parts. also a specific low down exhaust pipe like pro circuits or paul turner mids. could also go to a 2-1 carb kit for more low down, but you will lose some up top. also, handling and suspension will make you go faster because you can hit things harder, faster and later which will make you quicker over the long run. some +2 +1 a-arms, aftermarket shocks and a wider axle is a good start. approriate tyres are important as well. something like a maxxis razr2 or itp gncc.
  3. umm no. its an 05 i bought 6 months ago. unknown hours, unknown amound of rebuilds if any lol, but can garauntee its been thrashed for those two years with out much maitenance. im about to rebuild it so id like to get an idea of what ive done so i know what to buy to fix when its all pulled apart.
  4. my bad, was written on iphone...will edit now. went out for a ride this evening and ran into a bit of a problem. the shee started fine ran good for 5 minutes, but then i noticed the gears were becoming harder to grab and the gear lever was able to move up and down about 2 inches from top to bottom. then as were going down a track, i needed to turn around. went to gas it and then it just bogged down and died. kicked it over, put into first and tried again and it just revved with a little bit of movement. can anyone give some insight into what ive done before i tear the whole thing down??? regards ned
  5. Well went for a bit of a evening squirt this arvo and first off noticed sowmhing wrong with the banshee. The gear lever was able to move bout 2 inches up and downs And gear changes were hard to get. Then down the tracks a bit and went to turn around a d gave it to her and it just bogged and went nowhere, clutched and made sure it was in first and tried it again and nothing again. So I gave up and pushed it back to the truck. So by these descriptions wat does it sound like I've done to the shee?
  6. yeh boy, mickey t's rock. rolling 35x12.5 Baja MTZ on my 100 series cruiser, Australian spec though with solid axles. i payed 450$ each for mine, not cheap lol.
  7. going to be redoing the banshee soon and am hung up on what colour direction i should go in and need some opionions. its going to be a more MX/trail inspired machine. my options are Maier Silver plastics all over, grey and white n-style graphics and seatcoverk, candy blue frame and swinger, chrome T-5's, black laeger LT +2 arms with elkas, black ac propeg nerfs and probably some Hiper CF1 wheels front and rear with some various polished bling parts. maier black plastics all over, standard silvervein frame, black swinger, blue a arms, polished itp baja wheels, no graphics, blue seatcover, cheers for the help.
  8. Sweet setup, although not the sweetest I've seen. That's an Australian designed cart by The Edge karts. There's lots getting around with 1000cc street bike engines, absolutely insane to drive.
  9. benBB, thanks for the informative reply. My only reason for getting the long travel is I can get it for like 500aud more than a standard aftermarket setup. Well it sounds like I'm going to be better off nodding the shee, which I'm glad is the out come cause boy do I love that sound and feel. Thanks all for your invaluable input. Watch out for my build up thread
  10. Well I was considering port work, but then I thought bout it and I'm happy with the current power the stock worn out motor offers. Plus I'm not into straight line LOL, so would like some good low-mid range punch for carving dunes and when I get onru the trails and track, that's why I'm going with t5s. Same reason I want the elkas and lt, cause I would prefer to have a super plush ride and be able air it out than go fast. I think the cool head would be a good idea as well because I'm not always going flat out and it's reguraly 40 degrees Celsius here.
  11. yeh its got a K&N already need to get a alloy adaptor as well though. i know ive got my parts sorted, if i go that route...but im looking for some input from some people who have ridden a aftermarket suspensioned banshee and know how they compare to the newer quads????
  12. i just worked it all out off ebay and everything i need i can get for around 4500 aud, plus around 1000 in shipping.
  13. nothing really worth mentioning, pretty much stock. my plans were: .20 over wiseco rebuild new hotrods crank NOSS head adjustable timing plate T5 pipe kit billet impeller shift star mod heavy duty clutch gforce +4 axle Laeger long travel front end with elkas racetech gold valved rear shock +2 antivibe stem
  14. by the way, thats 5-6k australian so with the shit economic state its around 3k USD.
  15. hi all heres the lowdown. i bought my 2005 banshee about 6months ago for around 2500USD with unknown hours in reasonable condition. ive now found out it has been abused to all hell cause the engine is just about to pop and in need of a rebuild. my mates all have four strokes, a trx450, heaps of 700 rappys and my mate went down today and picked up a ktm 450xc. i rode the the trx and 700 rappys and was impressed by there suspension but not by the power delivery or engine feel. yet to ride the ktm but im sure it will handle like its on rails. we ride mostly dunes, with some sandy trails thrown in and also a little tight hardpacked trails. now, i had plans to drop 5-6k on my shee to get the engine running fast and reliable, upgrade the suspension and make it look abit better and am now wondering what i should do. my options are do what i want to the banshee and keep the adrenalin pumping with the sound and powerband OR do a quickie rebuild, sell it off and put some more money in and get a new 450. my reason being is the stock banshee suspension is killing me right now, escpecially since its so windy here (one of the best windsurfing/kitesurfing spots in the world) the dunes get chopped up real bad. so what i need is some feedback from guys who have done there suspension, done a rebuild and piped there shees and see how they compare to the new age quad???? thanks for your time and help
  16. I'm in geraldton, west oz. Hmm cranks are pretty exspensive I see, wat would be the downside of going to a new stock crank?
  17. bump
  18. dunes, sandy fire trails, tight trails, mx and road racing. im in a position where i will spend wat i need to spend but dont want to spend money on squeezing more power out of it except with bolt on parts. plus im in australia and i dont know of any companies that specialize in banshee porting so it would quite an exspensive excursion getting the engine built in US.
  19. hey guys. its time for a rebuild on my 05 shee. now im more than happy with the power its got now so will just be looking to rebuild it to stock and just make it more reliable. i willl be putting a set of t5's on at a later date, so can anyone give me some info on what mods and parts i should get to make it more reliable and run at its best. my plans so far are: wiseco top end kit pro design cool head pro design water impeller +4 stator plate tors eliminator kit cheers for ya help
  20. i wish, but i dont have 3k lying around to put into just suspension
  21. you dont want a specific terrain tyre like the holshot/razr or super swamper. you really need a all purpose tyre like the kenda knarly or the stock YFZ450 tyre as loco suggested
  22. ok after realising that my banshee rebuild would have me asking the bank manager for more money, ive decided to cut back on some things. im thinking of getting burgard +3 +1 a-arms and YFZ450 shocks. would this be a good setup and be kind of comparable to something like a works dual rate???? cheers, ned
  23. i would love a set of these, but am in australia. would you be able to get me a shipping price to geraldton western australia 6530?
  24. hey im from gero and a proud banshee rider. mainly ride the dunes, we have three large legal riding areas just on the outskirts of town which is mint. bahh, four strokes are boring. im about to drop way more than wat it wuld cost to upgrade to a 450 just because of thast sweet sound and powerband ned
  25. scaffolder/rigger/crane driver/Shutdown Supervisor travel all over Western Australia running shutdowns and driving cranes. i get a hard time out there though only being 19 and being in charge lol.
