  1. I literally have a brand new crank and I am not willing to buy another one....this has cost me well over 1200 to build this bike and now the rods are bent due to water in engine.....I can replace the rods.....the cranks were meant to be rebuilt...why all the negativity about rebuilding them?? is there a how to anywhere
  2. Yea stator was completly dry..the compression test revealed 70 on each cylinder....which makes me believe the rods are bent and I will need to rebuild the crank I guess the crank has less than 5 hours on it.....this blows....
  3. yea def need to take it all apart...its easy enough, but something is bound up......take a look
  4. Make sure your adjustments for your clutch are all tight and that you are actually letting it engage and not just power shifting it.... as for your sprockets....if they are shot you will hear a grinding slipping noise which is not good....you can take a few links of extra chain and see how tight they are in your sprockets where your chain is not riding....if there is a lot of play then get new sprockets...make sure your chain is tight... you can normally tell if its the clutch...a banshee does not hook on gravel in any gear lol
  5. Went out to coal hill for some sick riding...which it was....hill climbs were nice Here is what I did: Attempted hydroplaning in fourth pinned across this little 1 foot deep wash out approximately 30 yards across.. got about halfway and engine cut out......due to water clogging carbs i would imagine...I have pods(yea I am an idiot for doing this) - got it out....took plugs out and kicked over getting the water out.....no start - Dried plugs out and replaced about 5 times until all water was out.... - Got it to sputter then dragged it and jump started it...it was running but like crap....because coal water is not clean.... - Rode it around trying to clean all the crap out...it was running on both cylinders and ran horrible low and mid.....but top end was crisp and fine....ran for like 2 hours like this....it started right up and idled. GOt it home: -wash it.... - pods were like black....cleaned them...cleaned outerwears - changed plugs.. -cleaned carbs...completely air hose all jets out and cleared.. - new reeds - put back together and right cylinder sputters and pipe is super hot after a few seconds..... What I have: -65.5mm forged pistons.....brand new wiseco stock crank....just rebuilt the engine.....new ricky stator and RM flywheel...stock carbs....pods w/outwears...stock reeds....no TORS....300 Jets with Paul Turner Mids with FATBOY SILencers Carbs were dirty as hell with black crap.... P.S> Bike ran MINT before I said "hey watch this!" to the kid on his 400EX
  6. alright thanks man I thought so, but wanted to make sure....Mike
  7. I am rebuilding my engine and have the case split.....I am putting in the new parts.....I have various circlips...one on the cank bearing one for each of the tranny gear shafts......I just want to confirm that there was only one circlip a half a circle for each position or is it supposed to go completely around the bearings?? Was just at yammy ording new circlips....they claim there is just one needed......any help??
  8. IS there a tutorial on rebuilding your crank....I froze a connecting rod bearing and need to rebuild the crank.......any info???
  9. I noticed a huge difference with a new cable on my warrior....It broke andI bought a new one....difference is like night and...lube just did not help the worn out sleeve inside the cable
  10. Right I would definatley get it trued and welded.....could I weld it myself??? or not even worth the time? I am going with the long rod set up as well after reading about the problems with the shorts.....I just want the best set up for reliability.....I am doing it myself so I want it right....I can restore cars. I can handle the banshee engine...I rode it for like a total of 3 hours.......best three hours ever.
  11. Right..I am slowly finding more info on what to do/not to do....I have the engine apart now so I might as well just do...I have seen where you have to alter the case for the stroke of the crank? But some 4 mil set up do not require it....is there a good/better company that desings the actual cranks....I am going to get the crank and rebuild the bottom of the engine then see where I am at for the top end based on waht I hear/research...I will be running the PT mids with the fatboy silencers...I just dont wanna have the crank freeze up in the future..anytime soon.......what is the lifespan on cranks/crank bearings??
  12. I want to build a 4 mil set up since my engine locked up.... What set ups are out there that are reliable.....Once I order the crank kit....whats a recommended Top end? should I go .30 over? What are you running and for how long has it been working out for you... This is going to be the occasional MX, mostly open trail use...some drags
  13. Yea I have the manual on CD I am going to look at it....I have the sleeves and head off now....Looking into a 4 mil set up....Who does porting on the east coast?? where can I send the parts?
  14. Yea, so now the question is how reliable are the 4mm stroker kits??? I want it to be pretty fast, but reliable, also how difficult is the rebuild going to be....I am used to v8's
  15. Recently bought a mid 90's shee with an 88 engine.... Engine was stock.....I replaced the pipes with Paul Turner Mid ranges...rode it for tops 30 minutes in spurts without rejetting...ordered a jet kit.... Replaced 200 jets with 270's.....went down the road seemed to be running a lot richer ...went to my friends house 1/2 mile down the road....pulled in the drive and it froze up.... Premix i run is 32:1 for a lil added protection...guess not.... Took the cylinders apart.....two tiny metal pieces on top of the right cylinder....dome on LEFT side was chewed up from possibly a past problem....RIGHT side a a few nicks in it nothing catostrophic....took apart further RIGHT side crank/rod bearing frozen onto crank......LEFT side free..... Cylinder walls are clean, rings are fine.....tops of pistons are fine....... What went wrong....could it have been existing.......or was it from runnin it on the 200's? never showed any signs of damage while riding it with them...
