I dont do the plug chops, I do the same WOT run, then pull the plug and look at it. Looking at the bottom ring may be the most exact method, but im not drag racing, as long as its got the brown plug color im looking for, im happy. So, are you saying I will not be accelerating faster? I know the gears wont be as long, but that would mean to me that im accelerating faster, correct?

So your saying, gearing it down to 60 MPH from 70 MPH wont do anything for me? Everyone keeps telling me 380 is huge, but I could get zero plug color with anything smaller then that. The last plug check i did was with 360's and the plugs had no color. If anything the plugs looked lean. They were starting to get that slightly white look, like a lean condition. Once I put the 380's in I finally got a brown color on my plugs. Bike runs great with the 380's in. It never bogs or spits or anything at WOT. Runs great throughout the RPM range. It takes the gas and grins back at me lol

Well, stock carbs, 380 mains, cyl have been ported (not real aggressive, but has had some porting), FMF pipes, +4 timing, pod filters. I would assume the max rpm on the shee is not much more then a stock one. Considering the minor engine work.....

Well, the only reason to gear it down is that i have no place to go 70 + MPH. Its wasted gearing for me. 60 MPH is more then enough. Might as well get more acceleration right?

Whats the max RPM on a banshee? Is it around 9,000?

Think I should take that into consideration when buying new sprockets? Im assuming right now I have stock sprockets. I pretty much toped out at 72 MPH in deep soft dirt. So, If I use the calculator, its pretty accurate to what I have. Should I just assume its perfectly right and buy sprockets to what it says? lol I want to achieve around 60 MPH max speed. So, I could use 13 front and 45 rear, and get roughly 62 MPH with a 20" tire. Or from anyone's experience is this to much or to little gearing?

I was searching the forum to find some topics about gearing.... I came across this nifty calculator... http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm Is this thing accurate? From my gearing and my tire size, etc. It seams pretty inline with a GPS I used to track top speed. My real question, if i gear it down from 72 MPH to 61 MPH, think I will notice anything on the bottom end? I have no reason to go 72 MPH, 60 is more then enough for trails, tracks and dunes right? So I can take the top speed down and get more bottom acceleration.....right?

hrmm, doing some quick math, correct me if im wrong..... 350 cc's @ 6,000 RPM = 74.16 CFM Sooo, this fan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811999122 would have more then enough airflow then required for a stock bore and stroke banshee..... Correct? Wait a minute, im not sure what the max RPM is on a banshee. I would have to assume its more then 6,000 RPM.

I completely agree. I forgot to add it was an external power source. The battery pack was not related to the engine.

lol, can you point to a MPH calculator? Or some formula to determine a maximum speed on a banshee? I got 20" tires in the back, and im assuming stock gearing. Full throttle for 5 - 10 seconds in deep dirt, in 6th left me at 70 mph. I want to gear it down to 60 MPH, so my bottom end is quicker? Any advice? Again, im assuming I have stock gearing

Sorry bud, only been to NJ for sales calls. I live in MI. So, I hope by now everyone has got it out their system. Im ready to move on...........to the next crazy question!!!!!!! BTW, I have tried this next idea. Putting an electric fan after the air filter to reduce pressure drop across the filter media. I guess essentially increasing air flow? I was throwing away some old computer stuff and I found this electric fan off an old CPU cooler. I took it off and mounted it after the air filter on my old KDX200. I wired it up to a battery and let the fan rip it up.....lol Basis: Well, a lot of computer fans can push up to several inches of water column. (there's approximately 27 IN WC in one PSI) So it would be a like an uber weak electric supercharger. The only thing I may have noticed was a minor increase in maximum RPM. Not sure though, this was like 6 years ago. Wuch ya guys think?

Sounds like you answered your own question.... If I would have given it a serious thought, it would have been a better idea with more of a description.....correct? If everyone is so convinced I was being dead serious, heres my best thought. Adding adjustable venturi's to the openings to regulate air velocity, sort of like the old old carburetors. While having a fuel opening next to the venutri, when the pressure drop across the opening lowers, it sucks fuel in. The same way a real carb works. Essentially you have 4 carbs. A motor's power is only measured by how much air / fuel it can flow through in a pre-determined amount of time. The more air and fuel, the more power. There is my serious thought.
