  1. How do you know what flash point you are after? Is this something you are measuring?

kinda im not actually testing the fuel for a accurate flash point.theres no real science to what i do,

on the engines i have built with a substantial amount of compression and feel a higher octane is needed i just take egt readings and do plug chops and compare the 2 till im happy with the results.

there is way more to this subject than i can grasp, nor have i taken the time to understand it completely. this method is just what has worked for me over the years with good results.so i really have no clue to my actual flash point number wise but know the engine is in parameters for safe running conditions and non-detonation.

  2. ive been buying avgas from the heliports for atleast 20 years and have ran it in every thing under the sun from drag bikes, dirt bikes, quads, hot rods ive owned etc.what i have noticed over a period of time it will leave deposits on the pistons and valves over a long period of time, it will get to the point where valves wont seat from all the deposits and also pitt the valve seat.i have run it straight and have mixed it with pump fuel depending on what octane/flash point im after.for the price difference in avgas and vp i run alot more avgas than i do vp fuel.

  3. damn!! well thats not what i wanted to hear. guess i'll just stick with the stock swingarm for a while and see how things go. thanks for the input fellas.

if you like to carve and jump as i can tell you do i would stay stock maybe +2

if you drag race mostly i would stretch it to atleast +4 maybe +6

i think the +2 is the happy medium for both, will still handle and jump decent,

and will be more effective on a hole shot than stock.

ive seen some guys do pretty good with a +2 just put your nuts on the gas cap when launching.

kinda like riding a cr 500 you have to have yer nuts on the gas cap when in the throttle.

  4. so i found this part number for the FZR600/1000 clutch fibers 4h7-16321-02-00

looking on fleabay nothing is by part number, just model year. Are all FZR clutchs (fibers) the same no matter what yr?

clutch fibers are the same from 1990 to 1999.i run barnett hd springs barnett flat steels and 1997 yzf 1000 fibers,if that helps any.thats what i ask for at the parts counter or when ordering.its basically the same thing your going to get from f.a.s.t.theres several bike shops and builders that sell this set up.

and yes they do hold up well.unless you have a highly modified all out drag bike then you will need a lockup.they also have a 8 plate clutch set up with these same parts just runs 8 fibers instead of 7.if you want to do this just buy the 8 plate inner hub.

  5. first off, it all depends on the terrain. I get so sick and tired of this bs about bikes vs bikes. I regretted even posting the stupid video that my brother took while we were just fucking around. It all has to do with so many things, (rider, bike, terrain, situation, circumstances, holeshot. blah blah blah) the 700 is fast and so is the banshee and so is the fucking tecate 250, so is a cr500.

stock for stock, 700 beats banshee unless the 700 rider is a f'ing tard.

    [/quo

    i agree completely.

  6. sure you can build a banshee to beat a vette if you tried but the point of the thread was to see how it stacked being piped against a piped kfx 400 and a stock rappy 700

yes i agree a stock raptor 700 will smoke a stock banshee.banshee off the show room floor was majorly detuned.thats why one can pipe jet and some filters that let it breath advance the timing a little with gear for what your doing and its a different animal.but yea a 700 raptor should kill a stock banshee its only half the cc's and detuned badly.its amazing to me how close of a race it is with just pipes for half the cc.just imaging if the banshee had come with like a tz750 two stroke motor from the factory.it would take a yamaha r1 motor in the raptor to keep it in sight, NOT.

  7. im sure am glad i dont have the horror stories some of you have.all i can say is some of you are riding some hurt ass banshee's.i raced a raptor 660 about 2 weeks ago with my 03 z400 and spanked it.z has athena big bore kit, hot cams hot rod, trinity stage 5 exhaust etc.i had no problem handing the raptor its ass on dirt beating him by at least 3 quad links.my banshee will run off and leave my z400 like its going backwards.something is definitely wrong, sounds like to me some hurt ass banshee motors.so far on my banshee the only thing i have been beat by was another highly modified banshee.i am also a believer in you can make anything fast.my point is if your getting beat you havent done enough to your banshee.

this guy here that cat keep it in 5th or 6th gear having to down shift to 4th for power should have not been racing anything.my blaster would have spanked it.hell on my banshee i run a 15 tooth front sprocket and am looking for 7th gear.all i know is theres a bunch of banshees out there that will smoke a modded raptor 700.it better have a turbo on it if it comes my direction because thats what its gonna take.

i fuck up raptors and yfz 450's for free.

anyone that lives in the 4 states area close to texarkana that has a raptor or a yfz450 that needs a banshee ass whoopin let me know.thats if i havent already smoked your ass.

  8. my experience with clutch slippage is when not into the power band grabs fine,as you get into the power band then is will slip and let go....i run the yfz 1000 street bike clutches and flat steels with heavy duty springs with good results.you can buy a lockup they just cost $$$$

  9. so im thinkin about gettin a longer swingarm but im not totally sure if +4 is the way i wanna go or not. i USED to just dune my bike and would hardly race or do tree shots, but since ive had my bike ported im wanting to do more of both of those things. im just unsure of how well a longer swing arm will hold up with jumping (see sig)?

right now i have a stock swing arm and 20x10x10 10 paddle haulers, what im thinkin' about doin is switching to a +4 swinger and goin with a 22x11x10 10 paddle hauler to keep some of the dunability and still get more traction.

what do you guys think?

    i went with a +6 and for what i do, i though i should have went with a +4

after riding a friends bike with a +2.. thats what i feel like i should have went with.

the longer the swing arm better for just drag racing i feel or just hill climbing.

a +2 will help you out on your hole shot some and you will thank your self for not

going any longer for the fun factor of a shorter swing for carving and jumping etc.

im after a +2 for what i am doing at this point.will keep the +6 though for drag.

only takes an hour to change evey thing out depending on what type riding your doing.

  10. Daves domes will work in the Modquad head. I have ran a set of Kevin's domes in one I had and Dave cuts his domes for him. Pro Design domes are the same, they will work with the Modquad head.

    SP

cool i know very little about the modquad head, thanks for the info.

i figured there would be more options than the modquad domes.

  11. id say you would be alright with jb weld that shit is tough ive filled holes tapped it and snaped off bolts in that shit lol. and by the way banshee terror a chevy 350 is a smallblock engine. i not sure but i think the old 396 is the smallest bigblock

402 was the smallest chevy big block.

400 was the biggest small block.

  12. thanks for your input.i have a set of stat o seals for under the head nuts im going to use.i talked to pro design and they said their domes will work with the modquad head.im going to call david noss tomorrow to see if his domes will work.does anyone else know what other domes will work with this head.

  13. can anyone say jockey there are many different riders in different altitude on different surfaces with different set ups and different tuning.but like i said rider.i have never been beat by a 660 700 or a yfz 450.i live on the texas oklahoma boarder and had a few buddies getting spanked by a yfz 450 in oklahoma and i took my slow ass texas banshee to oklahoma and put a ass whoopin on the yfz 450,he could not stand it had him mad talking about selling it.

i am ported with a few other mods ,not the fastest banshee out there by no means but the 660's 700's and yfz 450's i have ran dont come close.

  14. i just picked up a new modquad cool head for $125.00 factory sealed/never opened.

ive heard good and bad about the modquad head but i figure for a buck twenty five i will give it a try.

if its no good i will sell it,just thought i would try it...

what dome brands will work in a modquad head..ive been told that noss domes will work also pro design.

of course the modquad domes will work,im just wondering what all domes will work with a modquad head.

if anyone knows what works and what dont please fill me in.

says in the package that came with the head big bore or small bore domes

just wondering what brands will interchange.

    thanks in advance.

was also wondering about the chozen performance domes and wsm domes.

what will these domes work with.

  15. when i talked to kevin, he recommended the 33's. basically im just tryin to figure out if the power gains from 33PWK's are gonna be worth the cost, since boreing out my carbs is gonna be fairly cheap.

there's a reason why boring your stockers is fairly cheap,,,,its because its not worth doing.a set of bought 28s will perform much better.i had a set of stockers bored for 60 bucks,i feel like it was wasted money.very little difference.the 33s should make a huge difference.

  16. everyone has a opinion but some opinions are over looked for good reason.you have guys on here like gregrob and bigred that have posted time and time again looking for help/information and then gonna bash the sources that the information came from in the first pace.with out the builders and some individuals on here that have tried different combinations of things to know what works and what don't,no one would have the information they need with out spending truck loads of money and a garage full of parts trying to figure it out.all anyone has to do is read no matter what site it is to get the information that is needed.i myself have replied to threads but have never started one ,don't need to the information is already there.its a thing called google.imo most people that are sitting here bitching about this builder and that builder have nothing better to do than be ignorant to the fact that he could be learning something in the time wasted bashing someone else.i feel like its been a big waste of time for me and everyone that has read this whole thing.hell i could have been out breaking something while in the saddle of my banshee instead of who is gay who is stupid who is retarded who is a nut swinger..WHO GIVES A FUCK!!!!!!.no wonder gas prices are half of what they was a short time ago.its because no one is riding there all computer racing and talking shit instead of posting important information or something that really matters.you bunch of fucking nut swingers.

  17. We have carried both and tried both on the same bikes and the wedges are hands down better for traction we tried the 4 snow because of that article or a similar one that we read and they just didnt live up to the hype. The wedges are hands down better for traction on dirt havent tried either on snow though.

i haven't ran the 4snows,i was just going by a article i read and posted about them.

  18. I've heard the opposite. I have both and the wedges hook a lot better that the 4-snows for me. But the wedges are also on wider wheels - not exactly a fair comparison.

Read it for your self they tested both tires back to back.sounds to me like the 4snows have deeper lugs and also a pound less per tire.

    Product Review By: Chris Hodkinson

ATV Dirt Drags on the east coast are every bit as competitive and the racers take it as seriously as the NHRA Top Fuel guys. Even though the Top Fuel Cars are running 300+ mph, over a 1/4 mile stretch, and just under 5 seconds, ATV Dirt Drags can be just as exciting and quick. ATV's cannot come close to hitting 300+, but in 300 ft, their speeds can reach over 85+ and times are also under 5 seconds. With a combination of speed and time, they, the ATV dirt dragsters, have to be on their toes just as much as the Top Fuel cars so they can cross the finish line first.

Many races are won or lost right in the 1st 60 ft. If you can't put the power to the ground and your competition does, forget about it, it's all over for you.

The tire of choice at these races is the Pro Wedge II's. They offer excellent traction on the starting line and grow in size as the tire speed increases. No other tire puts this combination together quite as well. The biggest down fall for the Pro Wedge II's is the availability of them. They can be hard to come by and if you do find them, might be costly too.

The engineers at Maxxis may have stumbled onto the ultimate dirt drag tire combination and they didn't even know it while designing the "4-Snow" for the winter enthusiast. The new Maxxis 4-Snow (M910) wasn't meant to be a competition used ATV dirt drag tire. But with a tread pattern similar to the Pro Wedge II, except for a little deeper lug, and also weighing in at 1 lb less per tire, these tires looked like a formidable foe for the Pro Wedge II's. We contacted Maxxis for more info on these tires and also found out that they grow 40% taller when up to speed. They were as curious as we were about how these tires would compare to the Pro Wedge II's so they sent us out a set for testing purposes.

We set up the timers out at our local dirt drag track. We made several runs with each set of tires, and immediately noticed that the '4-Snows' consistently offered more traction and were quicker at the start. We recorded each run and at the end of the day the '4-Snows' were .15-.20 of a second quicker then the Pro Wedge II's in 300 ft. This translates to about 2-3 bike lengths in 300ft.

Although we cannot comment on the wear characteristics of the '4-Snows' vs. the Pro Wedge II's in this short time we have had them. However, we can say that in the last month of racing and testing they have held up well.

In conclusion, we can say this, for the rest of this race season we will be showing up with our quads running Maxxis 4 Snows, as this is a new arsenal in our daily quest for more speed and faster runtimes in our 1/4 mile drags.
