  1. yeah i had the same problem but in 2nd and 3rd. Hes right it is easier the second time around; doesnt get any cheaper though ive done it twice already and have to do it again cant figure out why it keeps happening. Goodluck
  2. So after a full tear down of my engine i found alot of scourched bearing and shafts and pinion gears which led to my locking up of tranny.Replaced almost every gear in tranny (pretty much brand new) threw in a new piston and all was good went to dumont for new years bike was running tits before i left within the first hour of riding it locks up again. The same damn thing happened burnt gears cogs pinions whatever you wanna call it. Has anyone heard of a defect in the oiling system in these things is the oiling bearing not doing what its supposed to im stumped. I had brand new motul in it so i know it had enough oil. I dont know any suggestions or anything info for that matter would be appreciated thanks
  3. When i did my rebuild i didnt replace the studs is that bad or is that just a standard procedure you guys do? They looked fine threads still in good shape and no bends or anything.
  4. Jus got the motor back together and it runs great but i havent really laid into it til i know theres enough fuel. It has full fmf pipes, cool head, dune port, pod filter with lid off, cant remember how much it was bored over but i know it has 65.5 mm pistons in it. I opened the carbs up and it has 290 mains in there already not sure bout the pilots and what notch the needle was in but would this be enough? My buddy has some 340 mains that he said i could have but would this be too much?I am at 500 ft right now but i am going to dumont for new years and the elavation is the same pretty much but should be colder there does this matter that much? any info would be great.
  5. sounds good, did a search on plug chop but couldnt find much.Whats that?
  6. Going for the first or crank on new motor and trans what's the best way to break the rings in? Do i need to change trans fluid after first ride? Do i need to re-torque head like on a car engine? and should i run my gas alittle more rich on oil then usual to start? thanks WISH ME LUCK (first build)
  7. So i am still having clutch sdjustment issues. I have taken the clutch out and put it back in so much i could do it in my sleep.I have followed the manual to a T and try to make the adjustments they recommend and i still get nothing no movement at the handle or anywhere. Its just a tusk offroad clutch with new springs. I push the lever over so the tits line up and turn the adj screw til it touches and back off 1/4 turn and still nothing. Im positive i have the plate properly seated and torqued down. I got a brand new cable and im sure its the right one. It acts like the push rod isn't long enough. I dont now out of ideas can you guys enlighten me on any missed steps or tips to point me in the right direction. thanks
  8. Anyone ever run a tusk clutch and need a new push rod and if so what length? Or am i jus not adjusting the clutch right cause i run out of adjustment at the plate. thanks
  9. Trying to tighten the clutch boss nut and dont have the holder they say to use in the manual.Does anyone have any suggestions on how to torque the nut and hold the boss without the tool.
  10. So i can jus bolt it back up in whatever postion it sits in and not have to worry about what the timing is at? Not worried about if it does advance it at all i jus dont want to retard it.
  11. but on the stator the mounting holes are more like slots and it has room for adjustment. dont know if someone before me did that or thats stock. I jus didnt think it was jus a bolt on thing.
  12. So like a dumbass i forgot to mark or even look at the position the stator was at when i tore the engine down. I dont think it had any timing advance on it to begin with but not sure. Whats the easiest way to get it back to the right timing setting without having to buy a timing adjuster or is it jus worth it to buy the adjuster and advance it. The manual isnt very helpfull. thanks
  13. its a pod with jus the bottom of the air box and i forgot i have a mild port job done on it too
  14. jus opened the stock carb and saw that it had a 290 main(didn't get to the pilot). Would this be enough jet to satisfy a .80 over bore, cool design head, full fmf golds and cone filter motor?.I am at 500 ft. lets jus say it has stock pilots for shits and giggles.
  15. Thats the answer i wanted to hear yeah i bought the pistons from a supplier and they came a few thousandths out but the bores were matched. He marked for me which piston went to the right jug, but i was jus wondering if that gonna be an issue. thanks
