well, i put 290's in it today, and spark plug looks good. nice coco brown. however, i did notice that i fouled a plug when i was running down the road? Never fouled a plug that easy before? Why is that?? Also, uni air filter. im gonna get a k&n soon.
-
no its not a 2 into 1. why is it on banshees that you have to go up that big? Thats like a huge jump! should I try a 260, i have those already?
-
Ok, I had a problem, and we did a top end rebuild on my 2000 banshee. Im in the process of getting it jetted right for my pipes. They are dyno port racing headers, with dg silencers on them. I live in illinois, idk what my elevation is. My snorkle is off my airbox. We put 220 mains in it and im still breaking in the new top end, i almost have 1 tank of gas ran through it. So now I need to see about my jetting. I got on it a little bit, and about half throttle it want to pop, like a backfire. The main jet is the only thing that I changed. What does that mean with the backfiring or poping? Once i get a full tank of gas through it then I can give you guys a sparkplug pic.

whoops, i forgot to add the link to what i bought lol http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...rksid=p3907.m32

i bought whats in the picture, except for the rear. I haven't bought anything for the back yet, im looking for back fenders right now.
-
Ok, i bought this, I got the front with the flame radiator cover for 70 shipped, I didn't think it was a bad deal. Now, I need some rear fenders. This is maier plastic, and it looks darker than the stock blue. I am wanting to buy some to match, if stock is the same color, or if anyone has any good looking maier plastic for the rear (non cut) that they wanna sell for a decent price, then please let me know.

whats the piston ring end gap supposed to be? what measurement?
-
well, idk how old it is, it could be a little off, but im gonna tear into the top end later on this evening, and let the guy come look at it. I will let you know what happens later on. I don't ride in the woods, the place wasnt really woods, i mean theres hills there, and I was climing one, and bottomed out. i was just following someone that was really slow in a jeep so it couldnt get much air. edit: I run 32:1 with klotz oil.

theres not any shops that build motors and stuff around here. I know a couple of people that do know how to rebuild motors, that are friends of my dads. So would you guess that its pistons and rings or more so than that?

Left Cylinder was 72 PSI and the right one was 77 PSI...was tested with a snap on tester. Top end rebuild then?

when i got it, it had stock exhaust and everything, and it didnt have a bit of trouble, it idled excellent and everything. Then when i put on my exhaust and jetted it, is when i started having problems. I know someone down the rode that has a compression tester, he owns a shop and hes a friend of my dads. We are going to take it down there tomorrow, and im gonna test it, and i will let you guys know the results. My dad has an ol timberwolf thats in super nice condition, and he is gonna let me sell it and keep the money, so ill hopfully have a grand to work with, so i plan on rebuilding it if it needs it, getting these rims (4 of them) in black http://www.rockymountainatv.com/productDet...odFamilyId=8641 those good rims? with razr 20's in the rear and 21's in the front. then not entirely sure what ill get with the remaining, possible k & n air filter, power lid, and cool heads. not entirely sure, anyone got any suggestions? I will let you guys know tomorrow around 2 or 3 central time the results of the compression test. Thanks guys, you have been a lot of help, nice forum btw!!!

located in illinois, and i tried doing that as well and it runs bout the same. Im guessing that top end needs rebuilt, because i dont know why else it would just quit working all of a suddon. and it all happened after it overheated, so thats my guess.
-
alright, ill ask around and try to get a compression tester tomorrow. How exactly do you use one of them anyway? Like i said it was running fine, until the other night, i cleaned the plugs, and put them back in and it doesnt want to stay running, why would it have quit running all of a suddon?

read the above post again, i have edited it some. Well, if its not the mains, then could it be the pilot jets? im just confused...the adjusting the airscrews havent been helping too much.
-
ive tried messing with my airscrews, with no luck. Does that mean I need to go down a main jet size or what? But since it was running rich, and got really hot, and the antifreeze started bubbling, and i let it cool down a little, then rode it down the road and it cooled off, and rode it a little bit later, do you think I will need to rebuild my top end, because it doesnt even want to run right now, and it was. Let me know if you think I need a smaller main jet or whatever. Only thing that I did was put my exhaust on and change the mains thats the only thing i did. I took a audio record of me kicking it, and it running, at the end of it is when i let off the gas, and it died. 0824081557.wav

I don't like them as well when they are rounded. I like the looks of them when they come to a point, but i'm not too sure on to do it by the exhaust, the beginning looks pretty easy, but the back, by the exhaust looks a little bit harder, because you actually have to make the point.
-
ok rich is what? Too much fuel, or not enough? That plug had like 2 hours riding time on it. Do I need to jet it more or less or what? My pilot jet is stock, mains are 260's. What do I need to do?
-
drill it out, and then retap it?
-
Ok, So I am wanting to cut my front fenders. I really like the way that BansheeDan's looks, and I would like to cut mine like his I don't want to mess up so I was needing some tips. Whats the best to use? Jigsaw or Dremel? I went and taped it, and this is what I have. Could you tell me any adjustments that I need to make, if any?
-
Heres a picture of my spark plug. Thanks!
-
Also, what about my mixture screws, how do you adjust those, is there an easy way? I have been just guessing and checking. I have been trying to get it right, because from right out of idle, to midway, it doesn't get up like it used to, like there is some cutting out. What jets do I need to change? Are my mains not high enough? But still, why doesn't it want to run right now when it was running decent for a couple of days?
-
well, i was always told that on a 2 stroker you gotta keep it reved up to keep them from fouling plugs. Yes it is bone stock other than the snorkle being taken off, and the exhaust. I am running 260 jets, I can give you guys a pic of the plugs tomorrow, the circle is black, but the 2 little places where the spark happens like the lever thing and the point are a golden brown. but still why would it have been running decent, and all of a suddon since last night it doesn't want to run at all? It did seem like my jetting could be wrong because its not been right since I changed the exhaust and jets.

Ok, so I got a 2000 banshee. When I got it, it was all stock. I bought pipes for it, and jetted it, and i had a little bit of problems, but i got it. So I started at my girlfriends house, and went to a place around here called suicide. Theres some decent size hills there to climb. I was following a jeep and going into the woods, i was going really slow, just keeping it reved up to keep from fouling a plug. We got to the hills, and i climbed one, got to the top of the hill and bottomed out. So i messed around a little bit, then shut it off. I heard bubbling, so I took my seat cover off, and it was my antifreeze. It was so hot, when I stuck my finger in it, it burned it. So I let it cool off, didn't start it for about 20 mins. I EASED out of suicide, and got on a gravel road and rode back to my girlfriends house just cruising in 6th gear. I got to my GFs house and i checked the antifreeze, and it was cool. So I figured I was just not going fast enough to cool the radiator off. I went gravel cruising for bout 10 minutes and put it up. So tonight me and my girfriend was going to go ride. I went ahead and swapped my plugs out and it took me forever to start it. Once I got it started i warmed it up a little and started to take off and it died. I finally got it started again, and i got to take off, went down the road a little ways it wasnt running right. It wanted to cut out, and when i stop it dies. So whats going on? Need to rebuild top end or what do you guys think it may be?
