  1. Sounds like a plan and cheaper than a cool head. Thanks for all the info quys
  2. Noss site says 156 psi at sea level with 21cc domes. From what I have read that might be ok with pump gas but may be a little hard on the crank. Sounds like unless I want to get my crank welded and run higher octane (which is in the books just not right now) I should just save some and shave my head .10 or .20 and keep my comp around 140 - 150 BTW this bike is running 140 psi at 3500 feet so I wonder what I'm running at sea level
  3. I don't think I was clear on what bike I'm thinking about the head for. I want to put a cool head on my wifes bike which is .80 over, stock porting and timing and put the head off of her bike which is shaved .20 onto mine when I get the jugs back from being ported
  4. hey no prob on the high jack you were still somewhat on topic
  5. Well thanks for the offer but I'm getting my cylinder ported right now for my bike but i'll keep you in mind if the wife wants to juice hers up a little more.
  6. man you nailed that one one the head and if the funding was there i would have one now. Anyone want to donate to the poor little white boy foundation.
  7. I got this bike with what looks to be shaved about .20 with that Im running about 140psi at 3500 feet. I do ride at sea level some times to and have never checked my comp there but seems to run fine on pump gas but maybe I'm pushing my limit there. What my plan is to put a cool head on this bike and put the shaved head onto my 88 when I get the cylinders back from being ported.
  8. There hope that helps. Looking to put a head on the 87. Also thanks for all the info guys. I have lurked around here for awhile but finally started doing a few more mods and this place has been a gold mine of info.

  10. so if I want to stay with pump gas would I better off just shaving my stock head .10 or .20 and not wasting money on a cool head. Would I only be gaining the cooling capacity of the cool head and not any hp.
  11. so it sounds like I could get by with 20's on stock porting and timing or should I just be on the safe side and go with 21's. Just trying to stay with 91 octane if I can. Would hate to buy some domes just to find out I have to much comp and have to run 100 or higher
  12. How much comp can I safely run with pump gas say 91-92 octane. I'm looking at a cool head with 18cc domes but I think it will give me to much comp at sea level Bike has stock crank but is .80 over

  15. pulled the jugs last night and there is only scaring on the front and rear of the cylinder the sides look like the rings never even touched them. also the pistons look brand new. i would hate to have to get them re bored and buy new pistons but it looks like that is what i'm going to have to do
  16. How would you recommend on the west coast
  17. I bet you hit the nail on the head with having the ports chamfer. Bet they justed bored it since there more of a automotive machine shop. When I first had it done I thought maybe the rings didnt seat so I threw a new set in there but had the same comp. Can I get the ports chamferd without re boreing and is this something that I should send off to get done. Thanks for the help guys.
  18. No on the ports and i installed the rings with the markings up which i think makes the bevels face down
  19. Yeh I put in the rings but I bet there has been someone out there that hasn't. Yes checking it at wide open had a napa machine shop here in town bore it. I guess its possible that they could of over bored it. I did give them the new pistons when they bored it so the could match it up. How much clearance should the pistons have. i did check the rings and they were ok.
  20. just rebuilt the top end fresh .30 over bore and new wiesco's but i'm only getting 85 lbs of compression and the bike has no bottom end. Why would my comp be so low thanks
  21. Thanks guys. I also have another banshee that is .90 over, dg pipes, pods that runs great with 260 mains and 30 pilots so that is what i was going off of.
  22. I cannot seem to find just a J arm everything on e bay is the whole set up but I just need the left one. Any help would be great. thanks
  23. The bike already runs rich ( no one likes following me ) I have tried 260's and had 25 pilots and it made no differance. Also I'm puzzled as to why turning the air screws all the way in which would make it richer make it run better on the bottom and mid.
  24. I have beat my head against the wall with jetting on this banshee. Runs great on the top but you got to keep it reved to the moon to get any power. Runs really rich on the bottom but I can get the bog almost out by scewing the air screws all the way in. I'm riding at sea level and have 250 mains and 30 pilots. Bike is mostly stock but in bored .30 over, T3 toomeys, and K&N pods. Thanks for any help.
