not sure but it sounds like you have a ripe in your intake boot or a bad gasket on your reed plate. this well cause it to run lean and could cause it not to idle even if the slides close, by air intering befour the carbs. hope this helps.

Does the trans make noise in any other gears? Also does the bike feel like it does`t wont to move in secont gear? if the chain is slipping it would do it in more then one gear. when you had the trans apart did you check the main shaft splines?

I run mine at +6 on 100 oct fuel and never had a problem.

Is this a problem only at idle? Or at higher RPM's also? You should check you intake boots for a crack, cause you might be sucking air in before the carb.
