  1. well i played with the idle and it fixed the revving problem. now its not idiling.so i guess tommorow ill sync the carbs.
  2. the choke tube is on. the flat screws are all the way in so i would imagine thats why its racing like it is. ill try to spray the boots and see if i got a leak.
  3. i cant start this thing without using starting fluid and i dont want to keep on doing that.and the other problem is when i do get it to fire up it revs way up and stays up and i cant get it to come back down.it smokes real bad on the left cylinder but is probably right on the right cylinder. i rebuild carburetors all the time but none have the stupid tors on them.BTW i still got tors. how do you adjust the idle on it?bone stock, theres a K&N filter, and im at sea level. i just fired it up for the first time yesterday and the carbs probably arent synced. i wouldnt even know where to start. help me out!!!!
  4. just finished up all my electrical work. got my stator done and some other shit done. had no spark at the beginning but then i held the throttle open and that stupid switch turned off i guess and now i got hotass spark. its bogging and i think its due to the parking brake. what is the remedy for this without buying the blockoff?
  5. just put gas to my carbs after about a month of sitting on the bench and the right carb needle was stuck and the god damn tors were constantly in the way. they gotta fucking go! once i do they are getting destroyed and ran over with the mower.
  6. i know the carbs are clean. when i got it they were pretty nasty and i cleaned them with the zep carb cleaner you get in a 5 gallon bucket. good shit right there. on average i clean at least 5 quad carburetors a week due to the absolutley fantastic ethanol bullshit. as for "plum" do you mean that the slide iswarped and it is rubbing against the carburetor?
  7. just tried that and everything checked out ok. once i get some cash im going to get rid of the tors.
  8. yea it aint that big of a deal. i have to get a flywheel puller because the stator is bad so for now im going to have to live with it. after i bought that stator im freaking broke!
  9. when you remove the tors isnt there something else you have to do to your carbs? wasnt it drilling and tapping a hole for the idle screw?then everything else is bolt on?

  12. how can i make the throttle softer? mines hard as hell. the cables are not frozen or anything? any thoughts?

  18. the one thing that i dont understand is that everybody has top end kits but none that i saw includes needle bearings. you would kinda figure they would.
  19. i think that im going to replace the bearings anyway because it was never opened up before. so reusing bearings from 98 will probably give me problems. im trying to cut corners as much as i can with this but id rather spend the 10 bucks and replace them anyway instead of replacing a crank when it blows apart at 9 grand. as of right now its going to cost me 275 bucks to get it where i want it. it aint that bad.
  20. who do you buy yours through? i know jeff has then for 65 bucks a peice. same package as vitos. when you rebuild your engines do you ever reuse your needle bearings?
  21. saw these pistons and i wanted to hear everybodys opinion. i beleive theyre wsm brand. i cant find wiescos fro this price. i think it was 30 bucks for a std piston,ring,and pin.anybody run these pistons?
