  1. Banshee + Twist Throttle = Bad Juju for me. I took mine off after it almost seriously injured me (and the bike). I highly recommend anyone try one out ON A BANSHEE before they install one on their bike. They can be usable on four strokes and other slower bikes but be a real handful on a twitchy fast one.
  2. I know it's not done yet but I really hope you gusset or triangulate that motor mount, just my humble opinion. Looks like you have a great project going though.
  3. So let me start by saying my parents never let me have a quad growing up which is probably why I am so addicted now. I bought a honda 250x and within a week was ready for something faster. My thought was something like "Everybody wants to build a Banshee Killer, why not just get a Banshee?" Shortly after I picked up two basket cases off ebay for $1500 and began putting them back together. With a lot of help from this site I got them both put back together and running well. Some blunders since: 1. After assembling Banshee #2 I accidently left the hose clamp a little loose on the coolant line from the head. It popped off after a big step up jump and burned the heck out of my leg while my friends were watching! Coolant is surprisingly not cool. 2. Banshee #1 didn't have nerf bars. After taking a jump at a bad angle my foot slipped off the peg and I was pulled off and run over by my own bike. The rear whell grabbed my boot and pulled my off and under. It was in really soft sand so I didn't get hurt but it left an impression of most of my body in the ground. Again friends laughed! Banshee #1 now has nerf bars and a good hose clamp. 3. Banshee #2 had a twist throttle from the previos owner. I had never ridden anything with a twist throttle up until this point. I was riding around slow just trying to get a feel for it and decided to go back to my garage. The rear brake was not hooked up yet so I had to use the front to slow down. I made what I'm guessing is a common mistake and rolled the throttle back as I pulled the brake lever. The bike took off and I was just able to steer enough to miss the garage wall. I did however blast through my landscaping, hit a huge shrub and almost flip off when it stopped. I remember thinking I was going to die when it hit the shrub it's really more of a tree. The front was pushed down and the back wheels came up in the air. I wound up trapped between the Banshee, shrub, and garage wall. At least the Banshee wasn't damaged but my wife wasn't very happy the next morning when she saw what happened. Banshee #2 now has a thumb throttle, rear brakes, and nerf bars!
  4. Hopefully I'm not throwing you in the wrong direction but it may be electrical. My plugs have looked great before but the bike has had a miss on the top end, specifically one cylinder would go out. I got some sand and water in my run switch and my bike did the exact same thing. Once I cleaned the contacts it went away. Also my other banshee acted like that when the coil was about to die. I think if your spark isn't strong enough the extra fuel and air under full throttle will put it out, but under partial throttle it will run fine. The best method to check a coil is to swap with a known good one. Sometimes they can test O.K. with a voltmeter but fail under load.
  5. I'm looking for stock or aftermarket headlights for my 'shee. Located in N.E. Ohio as well (Ashtabula). alt0705@hotmail.com
