after doing a ton searchin the forum, i think ive made the desision on goin with 290 main, 30 pilot (ive read that FMF Fattys like big pilots), and 4th clip down from the top of the needle. what do you guys think? Will that be too rich? Or should i go with 280 main and 27.5 pilot? Info on Banshee: *No port job *stock carbs *FMF Fatty Gold Series Pipes Info on my location: *Jamaica, New York *About 40 feet above Sea Level *I ride between 40 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit

in addition to my 1st post, i also forgot to say that it is hard to keep the bike running when starting it after a while. if you do get it started, it sometimes cuts of after a few seconds. you have to keep reving is slightly to try to keep it on. I am wondering if its the idle screw, but the bike idles at a good level once its warmed up.

I have finally opened up my left carb today. The clip on the Jet Needle (5N7) is on the second groove from the top. My main jet is a 260. the pilot jet is a 25.

alright thanks

do you have a guide on opening up the carb??

I got a 01 Banshee that i believes needs rejetting. i bought the bike all the way in Ohio (above 1000ft) and i live in New York (about 40ft). Its all stock except for FMF Fattys with powercore silencers and K&N filter with airbox lid removed. ive had the bike for about 3 years, but today is the first time i have really rode it out. I rode on the street for a few hours...and not just in a little yard like i normally do...(its really hard to find a good place to ride in NYC). ive noticed that the bike kind of bogs or stalls when pushing the throttle passed 3/4s then all of a sudden the power may come back out. it also gets hot really quick and ive seen blue smoke after riding hard and fast. i read the "Yamaha Banshee Technical Information" section on carbs and i see that i am having the same symtoms as mentioned in the article. from what i understand, i believe i am running lean. I was looking at the Dynojet Jet Kits Stage 2. http://www.dynojet.com/pdf/Q400.pdf would that fix the problem??? what jets do i need?? needles?? sizes?? ive never jetted before so any help would be great. any recommendations will be greatly accepted. Info on my location: *Jamaica, New York *About 40 feet above Sea Level *I ride between 40 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit i tried to be as clear and descriptive as possible. Thanks -Mike

I think they raised the price because they stopped making it. so its becomming limited. if you really want these same tires, they gonna hit u hard with the price because they know you may not be able to find many.

hello banshee fans. im lookin for a full set of new rims and tires (front and rear)for my banshee because my current rims (at least the rear), I see that the size is uncommon. I can't find tires for it. My current tires in the rear are ITP MXR4 but ITP doesnt make them anymore, and where ever i see them, its atleast $80 per tire..and its only 2 ply...i want rims that are a more common size and would look great on my shee...I wanna stick with the holeshots. i need both front and rear rims to match. any suggestions??? p.s...i forgot the current rims size...shouldnt matter though... Here are pics... http://www.bikepics.com/members/djlilmikeny/01banshee/ Thanks -Mike

can anybody else give me some tips on doing this? please give me your ideas and opinions. thanks

i agree, the raptor plastics make the bike look really ugly. and b4 u said it doesnt matter wat other ppl think bout the raptor plastics, that only matters up to u (that u like them). In fact, it does matter to other ppl. they r the 1s who want to buy the bike from you. u gotta respect other pplz opinion. im sure if u had nice classic banshee plastics on it, it would have been outta ur garage right now. and u also gotta tell the ppl wat they are paying for. this is a funny game ur playing right now. like other ppl said the bike could be worth more than $6,000 or less. u may loose thousands, or other ppl may loose thousands. even though u say the bike is "fully loaded", it can also be loaded witha lot of worthless crap. keep this in mind!

GO WITH T5's!!!!

hey pplz, i just bout a new pair of head lights from walmart. the little chrome round ones. they are a 12 volt/50watts. i know that the stock stator wont keep them on nice and bright, and i really dont want to buy a 200 watt stator. i was just wondering if i can put in a 12 volt rechargeable battery, and make something like this. Stock Stator > 12 Volt Regulator > 12 Volt Rechargeable Battery > Head Lights i want the 12 Volt Battery to be connected to the stator and regulator to keep the battery charged while riding. the battery is use just to keep the lights bright. is this a good idea? please post all info thankz

im not a professional about jetting and stuff, but i found this on Toomey.com 1.Needle on the 4th groove 2.#280 Main jet (sea level, #270 for hot days or high altitude <2500') 3.Float setting = 21mm 4.Airscrew at approx. 1.5 turns out from full in. (Effective range .5 to 2.5) 5.Standard pilot jet (#25) try this! the jetting with the Toomey T5's and the FMF Fatty Pipes are very similar or even the same! this should work good if done correctly. here is the link for Toomey's home page: http://www.toomey.com/ here is the link for the page on Toomey's website where i found this info: http://www.toomey.com/html/t5-inst.htm Hope This Helps!

It wont really make a difference except for maybe air resistance. I never cut my fenders yet, but i was thinking about it. what i would do, is tape where u wanna cut, cut it, then sand it down. i would cut it at maybe the top of the slant or at the bottom. Note: When cutting, it might be better to cut maybe .5-1 inch away from where u want the cut to ctop at, that way if u mess up ur cut, u still have room to sand it down so it can be a perfect match. GOOD LUCK! check out this video i found. it has race cut fenders in both front and back. i wanted to make my banshee just like that, then maybe paint it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wrNqN7difA

i dont want to bring it to the profesionals, i want to do it all myself. i do have a big air compressor, spray guns, and sander. My dad paints his construction equipment sometimes, but thats metal. if i get the right info, i can do the job almost or just as good as a professsional would do it. its not like i want graphics fancy graphics. if anything, i can do simple graphics myself. i do have a 24 inch vinyl machine. I just want to know how i can make the paint last long. maybe by puting a clear coat, wax, anything. please let me know.

hello. i want to paint my banshee plastics, frame, A arms, etc.. Can anybody give me steps, guidelines, and what products to buy? i want to know what i can use to get a nice shiny paint job. i want to make sure the paint lasts a long time and doesnt peel off. if there are enough good answers, i think this is something that should get pinned up. no powder coating, just painting. i want to do a homemade paint job. anybody?

The 4 spoke rims that u showed me it the ITP SS112 Sport Edition. thats y ii said ITP SS112 (Not Sport Edition!)
-
also, what can i do to make paint last longer and stick better? if i cut my fenders (front and back) and paint them, what can i do to make sure it doesnt peel off? which pipes do u think are better in performance, sound, and looks? Toomey T5's or CPI inframes?

i want the seat and plastics higher. i had a 1999 banshee i think it was before i bought the 01 and it was a little higher than this one. the grab bar and everything was facing a little higher. the 1999 banshee got stolen though. so i bought the 2001.i dont have a pic of my new banshee because my baby sister dropped my camera and it broke. however, i do have a pic of my 1999 banshee. 1999 Banshee alli ccan say is that the rear end of my 01 banshee is a lil lower. the plastics and the seat dont face as high. i like it when the seat and the plastics face higher. nice and slanted like the 1999 banshee or a couple inchs higher. the 2001 banshee is like 2.5-4 inches lower. the seat and plastics are almost flat.

ok, thanks for ur inputs guys. anyway, which rims do u think look better? the SS112 or the SS212?
