  1. First of all, Welcome. This just happened to me Thanksgiving. I kicked and kicked and my shee finally started but my left cylinder wasn't firing. I wasn't getting any spark to my left spark plug. My buddy hands me two brand new plugs to put in and wouldn't you know it. One of the plugs (Brand New mind you) was dead, I mean nothing. He hands me another we check it for spark (Great), put it in and the shee fired right up and ran great. Check your plugs for spark (or put a brand new set in after checking them first also), and check the compression. Good luck
  2. Down at Glamis one time my buddy and I find this "giant" bowl (I mean it was perfect). I take the lead and we go around and around and around just flat open in 6th gear (having a blast). So then I drop down from the top of the dune to the bottom still flat open wide. The sun hits my goggles and I go blind for about 1 second (and we all know that's about all it takes). At the bottom of the dune there was this washboard with two but ruts (BIG RUTS). I bottomed out bend my rear axle, bent my rims, and then I hear my back crack 5 times. I stay with the quad and ride it to the top of the dune and just roll off in pain. Meanwhile my buddy thinks I'm pulling a prank on him as I lay on the sand. He finally got it after I told him don't touch me! I laid there for 20 mins before I could even move enough to get up. My Chiropractor about had a heart attack when he saw me! It took 22 treatments and 3 months to straighten my back out. I now wear tinted goggles (good ones)at the dunes!!!! Have fun, be careful!
  3. This is my elevations I run: California City elevation- 2405 ft Gorman- 4524 ft Glamis (sand dunes)- 335 ft At the California City elevation and Gorman the 290 mains run Great! At Glamis I guess according to everyone here I should run atleast 3 up (320 mains) 27.5 pilots, 2.5 turns air screw and 4th clip on stock needle. If you all agree to this I try it and see what happens (going next month to Glamis). Yes, tire were changed from regular shredders for hardpack to paddle tires for sand (overheated). I know the engine is going to work much harder in the sand. As far as gas goes with the head also milled at 30 thousands, I'm running 92 octane fuel. When it overheated which was less than 10 mins of running time it overheated. You could tell it overheated because it not only got hot but the you could "hear" the guggle sound from the raditor and she it out the over flow. I will take all your guys information and test it out next month at Glamis. Thank You all for your input on the Shee!!!
  4. I have some 320's I'll try those and check the pilots, air screw adjust and stock needle on 4th clip. I have a stock grill cover. So, all of this would cause me to heat up that quick?
  5. Is this what you run at Glamis? or higher jetting? Thanks for the info
  6. The plugs look just a little on the grey side.
  7. My Shee has T'5s, Oversized gas tank, new impeller (alum),timing +4 degrees V-force reeds, Ported,K & N filter(with stock lid and holes in it). Took her out Thanksgiving to California City (Mojave) and Shee ran GREAT with 290 main jets. At Glamis with the 290 main jets my Shee overheated in less than 10 mins. Do I need to run larger jets for Glamis? Like 320's or larger? If so, what size do you guy think (with the mods I have)? I'm hoping to get some good answers from you guys that hit Glamis alot. My Shee always ran good stock out there. But with the mods? ... Thank for your input!!! Bruce
  8. I remember seeing that about the timing plate +4 A highflow impeller? does this keep it cooler ? Start with 340 mains and work down. I ride under 3500 feet elevation Glamis and Gorman, California City. Will I need to go up or down on the pilots at 27.5 also when dialing in the mains? Thanks for the great input! Bruce
  9. I have a 1995 Banshee (stock, other than K & N filter with outerwear). Tell me if this sounds right guys! I'm putting the following on: Toomey T5's pipes with silencers, rejetting the stock carbs (280 main), Cool heads, Vforce reeds (should that be Vforce3 reeds?). I do not have a welded crank yet, will these mods be ok with out a welded crank? I also run "cool ice" in my banshee to keep it cooler. Now, do these mods sound right? Is there anything else you would do? Thanks for the input guys!! Bruce
  10. I used the best and it's Never and I said Never let me down. Golden Spectrum, I've used this oil for 40 + year (yeah I'm an old fart, but I'll ride til I die!). I watched other people use other oils and have problems especially with that MC plus1. Two of my friend used that and there goes the rings. Golden Spectrum has been in my Shee and all my two stroke bikes. Good Luck with you choice. Bruce
  11. I have a stock 1995 Banshee with a K & N filter and outerwear. I'm looking to do the following: Toomey T5's Vforce reeds Re-jett the stock carbs Cool Heads (what do you guys recommend?) Here's some of my questions, will my Shee still be as reliable as it has before? Everyone has told me that the Toomey T5's are the best, true? What do you guys have your jets set at? 280 under 3500 feet? If I got cool heads would I need to get 20cc domes? or another size? Also, will I have and I mean HAVE to have my "crank" welded? Thanks for all the input guys Bruce
