  1. As the title says .... how many kicks does it take you to start your banshee when its cold? it takes me 10-15 with full chok right now when cold when i first got it first kick it would fire up now the more i have added the further off its gotten
  2. UPDATE i took the flywheel off inspected it for cracks like was suggested. it came off a lot easier then any other time i had done this so i was tthinknig that maybe i had screwed up putting it on. anyway i adjusated the pickup and it runs better then ever thanks for the tips
  3. OK so after placing the dead stator i had with a fresh one... and now my banshee ain't running so great it's fine at low RPM's but when the motor revs up it kinda sputters and pops there will be a split second or two where it clears up and rip then sputters again now this is the case no matter what the position i hold the throttle at whether i nail it and give it full throttle or just baby it and give it 1/4 throttle its still not right when it should be hitting the power band this the the first reason that i think its something electrical and not caused by the jets now at first i thought it was lean i normally ride with a pro flow K & N in the stock air box no lid... so i figured to richen it up i would just throw the lid back on it didn't change anything so this leads me to thinks that its electrical i am ready to take my bros stator off his quad - which i know is good to see if the brand new one it defective as well ill probably even try the cdi and coil as well should i decide to do this Two weeks ago i did a leak down test to eliminate something on my list of things to check it was fine after i scrapped down the some paint residue by the reeds so now i am looking for some ideas... i am pretty convinced its not the jets and doubtful of the electrical being its the new stator so i am pretty much stumped can anyone give me some ideas on where tho head from here?
  4. im positive i did the test right i check the wires going from the wiring harnes to the stator itself and they were fine so there was no break in them which leave the problem to be the stator itself im not sure what type of multi meter i used it was one my brother had laying around that he uses for work the stator is a ricky stator setup ... came with a adjustable timing plate and all
  5. i was riding my quad a week ago when it died..... i busted out the climbers and found out real fast that my brand new stator was dead. >.< of the 3 tests it was the red and green wires that didnt return a resistance. which i belive is the charging coil the other two test were right on the money. i even checked the resistance across the points right on the stator itself, where the wires are stoldered to the stator itself, and there was still nothing. so now im looking for options. its there a way i can fix this?? get it rewound rather then dishing out 125 bucks for a new stator or any idea what might have caused this??? why woulda brand new stator withy one tank of gas on it go bad???
  6. what sounds like the real problem here is you switched your throttle vavles up. the left and right valve are different and by swapping them you can in effect install a backwords throttle vavle making it difficult for your quad to idle at all
  7. been a while since i been on the boards but here goes at the moment i misplaced my manual so im comming here first To make a long story short I rebuit my shee now im putting a new clutch in before i throw it back together I put the steel and friction plates in throw the pressure plate on and tighten it down and the plates are lose im able to move them back and forth a little play First thought was its a bad clutch..... Now im looking at the old cutch theres rubber bushings i guess you could call them theyre on the inside perimiter of the old stock disks Im wondering if these rubber bushings are necessary. The new cluch i got didnt come with them so my first thought is they arn't required and are probably just junk. Im also thinking if they arnt junk mybe theyre whats causing the clutch to be a little loose. If theyre they are junk and arnt responsable for the clutch being loose.. can i maybe get a few pointers to steer me in the right direction to get this straightened out. Whatever help anyone can shed on the matter is appreciated thanks
  8. ***update*** When i read your reply i wanted to show my brother the shift star mod so I did a google search and found this thread. The shift star is one of the few things left in the clutch area. http://race.atvaddiction.com/forums/showth...p?threadid=1083 The screw was staring right at me so i went to check it and sure enough the shift star was flopping around.in the breeze. This releaved me greatley but raise a few questions at the time. It would explain the porblem with shifting my quad on the last ride i had but might not necessarily explain the power loss before hand. The seal could of been bad before hand or it could have not. Not sure whati am gonig to do bout this. Looking for some opinions on weather I should split the case or not.
  9. Havnt been on the forum in over a year now..... so its interesting to see the t6's came out after years of rumors of their ranting... Any way ill get to it..... My banshee has always been rather sluggish for its mods and it wasnt till i finally raced my my brothers stock up against mine that i realized some thign was wrong.... Mine having pipes. cool head, open k&n degree key was lossing to my brothers stocker... I thought it was jetting and played with that a lot... i figuerd this cause it was hard to start. The compression was good and resistnaces on the coil and stator were fine and i had removed the tors a long time ... So i Finally i made a leak down tester from some home depots plumbing parts and found a problem... The air leaked out in a matter of 10 seconds!!!!! So tonight i finally took the quad apart to find where the leak was and to my supprise i found a small screw wedged behind the primary drive gear on the crakshaft and the seal. Needless to say the seal was toast and there wasnt much gear oil when i drained it. Thiis explains a lot on why my quad was down on power, hard to start, and had problems with the shitfer -which worsed the last few times i did ride it. Makes me wonder how the hell a screw would have gotten in there and how long i was riding around with it inside. All I can think is that some jeolus punk sabotoged my qaud at one of my parties..... Now im in the position where i am facing an expenasive rebuild. Which i dont really have the money for right now. This makes whole thing makes me mad cause spring is in the air and my borther has been thaking his quad out the past few days to go riging around. This just shouldnt have happened. Im also curious about my shifter problem. When I first got the quad there was always a problem finiding neutra. This problem on worsenedl the very last time i rode it was stuck between gears i.e. It would down to 2nd or up to 3rd and not click back up. Would this be from a bent shift fork or some internal mechanism breaking? i would like to hear some thoughts on what is wrong with the shifter so i can have an idea what to look for. thanks ~matt
