  1. I'm running Ohlins front shocks off of a Mountain Max, set as soft as possible, they handle very well. Left side of the handle bars I have a 90 degree "J" hook with a long SLP grip, works great for the turns.
  2. Try coating the threads of the studs in either rubber cement or weather strip adhesive. It does help. I am running the Chens with 5/8 Kold Kutters.

    Nerf bars.....

I am looking for a set of new or used nerf bars in the Anchorage-Matsu valley area of Alaska. I may be willing to buy a set off the board but the seller must be willing to ship them using Fed Ex. If you have a set or know someone who does give me call. thanks, 907-315-5373
  4. I am selling a couple stock parts off of my 2004 Banshee. Stock headlights with bolts, $70 shipped Stock heel guards, not the plastic netting, make an offer + shipping. Items will be shipped 2nd day air. If you have any questions PLEASE EMAIL me @ zk25thz28@yahoo.com Thanks.
  5. I am pretty sure a friend is going to give me the Razers off the fromt of his wheeler since he just bought a new set. I was planning on running them on the front and ging with the Chengs in the rear. I am thinking about going with 2 studs per lug in the rear set diagonaly from one another. I think it might hook up better. I think I am going to try and find another swing arm to try cutting it down so I can try it. I called Trinity yesterday and asked about the 421 stroker kit and he said it was $2800, and I'd have to run dual 35mm carbs. So the stroker kit will have to weight for now. Have you guys done the porting yourself or did you have someone else do it?
  6. Hmm, looks like I'll try them after all. Are the Cheng Shins really the hot ticket? The friend who got on this kick is using Razers with 4 studs per lug. Should I just go with the Shins? If I do, what length stud should I choose, and how many should I order? What size tire should I go with? Why cut the swing arm down 2 inches? I saw alot of shee's in the pics. Are they all strokers? I have almost everything but a stroker kit in mine. do Shee's without the stroker kit hang well enough?
  7. I am pretty sure I have a good setup in mind. The problem I see is traction. The two strokes just don't seem to hook up like the fours. I watched a race yesterday and there was a 500 Q racer out there and he was about to get lapped. I know alot of it is the rider, but evan the 250s just don't seem to hook up. I want to be able to bolt off the line. Gearing and the studs are my biggest problem. How different are the MF44's to the Kold cutters? They sure are more expensive. You can get twice as many Kutters for that price. Do you have the studs with the lock nuts? What did you use to help seal the tire? I have heard of people using rubber cement on the threads just before they install them. What tire size would you guys recomend? Why cut the swing arm down? Thanks
  8. I plan on ice racing next year and I'd like to see some pics of your tire set ups. I am curious as to why I see people cutting down their swing arms 2 inches. Is it to move weight over the axle? Maybe lighten up the rotating mass of the chain and give more direct power to the wheels? Thanks.
  9. I am pretty sure I'll be happy with the engine the way it is as long as I get it tuned properly. The trails are a little to tight for anything bigger and we don't have any dunes to speak of up here. The closest thing we have is a place called Jim creak, and it's mostly just silt. The riding is ok, but the scenery is better, but lots of maintenance afterwards.
  10. I do have a 92 Z. I bought it when I was in South Dakota for college. It's been sitting for some 6 years now. I'm not in to big of a hurry to get it on the road. The roads up here aren't the greatest. I'll see if I can find a pic and post it with the writeup on it. As for the shee, whee on te dome was the cc etched? I'm guessing I will have to remove the head to check. Yeah, I was going to check the stroke with a dial caliper tdc to bdc, but from the instructions that trinity had there wasn't a new crank in the kit, unless he bought the aftermarket stroker crank. Say, are the swing arms weak? I am pretty sure mine is tweaked a bit. Also, are all the frames from 1991 on all interchangeable? were there any differences? I may pick up an extra ust in case.
  11. I printed out Trinity's instructions for their 420 kit and it didn't come with a spacer plate, just pistons and gaskets for the most part. I will just have to order a gasket set some time and just take it apart just to make sure. That way I can get an accurate measurement with the mic. I think I am probably going to look into getting a dual carb set up for it and Trinity stage IV pipes, I was never a big fan of mixing aftermarket parts. So if you know someone with a set of Trinity pipes, that might want to trade for my Toomey's let me know. I also need to find out what domes I have in the head. With the compresion I have I am going to have to run some spendier fuel. What is the best mixing ratio for the fuel? I have seen in the book it says 20:1, but I have seen people recomend up to 40:1.
  12. Checked the compresion, engine cold, 15 kicks each side I had 150 psi, so thats good. I still may rip it apart to have the crank trued just to be safe. I'm gonna pick up new plugs and jets and engine oil tomarrow on my way to work. I took the carb apart and found out why it was flooding. Had a chunk of rubber under the float valve. I researched the carbs and it looks like I may go to a twin set up, but I think I'll run the single for now just to see how it runs. I plan on ice racing it next winter so I'll need all the bottom and mid I can get. Not sure what I'll do about the pipes, I'll probably just leave them until I can do more research. Right now I think I'm going to concentrate on cleaning it up and getting it set up for my riding style. I also have to get the rear of the frame straight. It's a little tweaked, but not by much.
  13. I just picked up my first Banshee yesterday. It's a 2004 Limited with Toomey T6 pipes. stage 4 head and the single carb and intake kit on it. The guy mentioned a while back about it having a 420 big bore kit in it, but I forgot to ask him more about it. I was going to take the head off and look at the cylinders, but is there a quick way of checking to make sure if it's got the kit or not? I'm sure I can measure the bore size, but is the stroke different? I also had a question about vibration. How much do these vibrate? This one seems to vibrate more than what I would think is normal. I was contemplating taking the crank out to have it trued, what do you guys think? Is the single carb intake kit really the way to go? I'm sure it's easier to tune, but does it add a decent amount of power? Does anyone else have this kit on theirs? If so what's your set up, jetting, air screw ect? With the stage 4 head, what should the compresion be? Are you suppose to run a different plug or stick with the stock one? What is the standard plug for these? Also what is the mixing ratio? Most of the two strokes I've had were 32:1, the guy said it was 40:1. Is there anyplace to download a service manual for this? Is there anything I should do or look out for, other than the general maintenance items? I appreciate all the help, Thanks, Zach
  14. I am looking to trade my 97 KX 250 for Banshee. Any year, almost any condition. Must have a straight frame, and I would prefer a complete wheeler, but will consider all in the Anchorage, Alaska area. The KX runs excellent. I powdercoated the frame green last winter, it has an FMF gnarly pipe, stock silencer, also repacked winter, Boyeson rad valve, Boyeson float bowl, Renthal o-ring chain. I have the service manual, extra top end gasket kit, and various extra parts, like foot pegs sprocket and a fewother little parts. The new parts that I put on at the beginning of summer include- all new black plastics, Pro taper 1 1/8 bars, Motion Pro throttle, throttle cable, clutch cable, Pivot works swing arm and linkage bearings, UNI air filter. The bike is in great shape and is adult owned. I have used Ams oil synthetic 10-40 and Dominator mixture oil while I have had it, and I've had it for several years and never had a problem. I'm not really looking to sell it, and I've always wanted a Banshee, so if you have one or know someone who is wiling to trade let me know. I am not afraid of a project. Please email or call me and I can email pics of the bike, or if you are in the area you are more than welcome to stop by and see and hear it run. Thanks. 907-841-4421 zk25thz28@yahoo.com
