like the title says i checked my compression today and got a reading of 118 in each cylinder. My motor is stock and I was wondering if it might be a good time for a rebuild? thanks peter

The piston is flush with the caliper and I did open the bleeder when compressing it. There is only one shim on the pad that is closest to the caliper. However, according to the manual it's supposed to be there, so I would rather not eliminate it. Are the pads for the 87-89 thicker? When you guys replaced yours how much extra space did you have? I think I will just start from scratch. Its just frustrating because this SHOULD be a quick and simple thing to do. I just wanted to see if anyone ran into the same problem.

Hey guys, I ran into a minor problem when changing out my rear brake pads. I pushed my brake piston in all of the way and put my pads on, but they are too tight and I can't put them over my rotor (almost fits). I was reading in my manual that there are 4.5mm and 6mm pads depending on the year of the bike. I have a 2003, do you think I might have recieved the 6mm and if so do you recomend that I buy new ones or try and sand them as evenly ass possible? Thanks for the help.

Its mostly dirt trails that can get pretty muddy. We also have the occasional sand pit which is definately a nice surprise. What are you doing in Qatar? Military?
