  1. thats crazy to think about that...
  2. are all hotrods banshee cranks trued/ welded straight from hotrods?
  3. ok, thanks "letsgetthisdone", i'll give jeff a call when i'm ready!
  4. i guess i dont want to buy a used crank because i dont want to end up getting one that needs rebuilding despite what the seller might say...
  5. ok, thanks for the good info guys! it is an '89 and it has fatty pipes, boyessen reeds, and fmf mufflers that i know of. its been sitting for 2 yrs. after i had heard the "knocking". i ended up buying a new yfz450 but kept the banshee and want to get it running again! can you guys tell me where can i get a welded crank for 400.00- would it be a new stock crank or something like a hot rods crank? any info is appreciated!
  6. i emailed ebay seller "powersports outlet store" about a new banshee crankshaft he has listed. i asked him if it was a hotrods crank, and he said that it is a "raider" crankshaft that is made in the same factory as the oem and uses some of the same parts. do any of you have any experience with this crank or know if what he is telling me is true? thanks.
  7. ok, thanks a bunch for answering. if it is "piston slap" will i need new connecting rods? or just pistons/ rings/ wrist pins? sorry, i'm new to this...
  8. how will you know when ur crank starts separating? what signs will there be? if it starts separating, will you still be able to rebuild the same crank?
  9. can anyone on here describe how i check to see if my crank needs rebuilding? i have a"knock" in my motor so i was going to tear off the top end regardless. if my crank does need rebuilding, does it really pay to have the crank welded and trued? if i buy a new hot rods crank, does it pay to have it welded and trued? i'm not going to be stroking it, just adding a big bore so is it worth it for me to have it welded and trued for my application? i would appreciate any info anyone can give me on this topic. thanks.
  10. how much more longetivity would i get out of welding the crank? i'm not planning on stroking it, just boring out bigger. is it worth it for me to weld the crank in my application? i can see if i have to get the crank rebuilt to do it... how do i check if my crank needs to be rebuilt? thanks.
  11. i have an 89 banshee that has developed a "knocking" sound which i cant tell whether its coming from the clyinder or bottom end. i took it to a shop and they listened to it and thought that it might be the wrist pin bearing. if it is the wrist pin bearing, am i gonna need a new connecting rod/ crank as well as a complete new top end? any other thoughts on this? thanks!
